Location was handy for easy access to motorway. Nice coffee machine at breakfast
Bedroom 7 was freezing cold, could not get radiator to work. Breakfast food was cold. Poached eggs asked for (know they are freshly cooked) massively overcooked and took 15mins to deliver.
Large clean and comfortable room.
Room was a little noisy.
Breakfast was good, very pretty dining room.
Warm welcome, very warm room.
Lovely real fresh fruit salad at breakfast. Service friendly and efficent
As we travelled by train/ bus - a small gate in corner of wall would have saved the walk of my elderly friend to the reception, he has bad legs. On the plus side room 2 was very close to reception
Breakfast was really good. The porridge was lovely! Also, the evening meal was amazing. We both loved it.
There is nothing we can complain about.
The location is good for us and previous good experience prompted us to book for a further visit. However on this occasion we were very disappointed. The room provided was difficult to access carrying luggage and whilst it was quite large, amazingly on arrival both radiators were turned off and the room was very cold. Whilst we were able to reset the radiators the room never warmed up before we went to bed, several hours later.
The discomfort was compounded by the fact that the television was very difficult to operate. There didn’t seem to be any terrestrial reception and the only way to receive BBC channels was through the iPlayer….a very cumbersome arrangement.
It seems a shame that, having reported to others of our previous very favourable experience, our recent visit to so poor and one we would not wish to repeat.
Having said that, the reception and breakfast staff were good, it’s just housekeeping and maintenance that need sorting
Very comfortable hotel set in beautiful grounds. The staff were very friendly and helpful. I asked in the morning whether we could have afternoon tea and even though we were supposed to give 24 hours notice and they had a wedding that day, they very generously provided an excellent afternoon tea and also gave my son a piece of cake decorated for his birthday. The tea was excellent value and served by a gentleman who could not have been more professional- he was superb in his role.
The breakfasts were individually cooked on the Saturday and all variations were accommodated and it was very well cooked and very good. The breakfast on the Sunday was a buffet, on which I am not usually keen, however it was replenished regularly, hot and very acceptable.
Even though there was a wedding, it had no impact upon us and we couldn’t hear anything from our room which had been a concern after reading a review.
It was a lovely weekend and great value. I thoroughly recommend it.
I could comment on the decor and dining furniture but this should not detract from the overall great experience, so I won’t!!
Location, cosy and friendly, nice room and bathroom, lovely breakfast. Only issues were the bed was a bit uncomfortable and as an elderly person, would have liked assistance with luggage.
Bed a little uncomfortable and stairs.
Have stayed here before, both times for weddings, which they do very well.
Toilet in no. 10 didn’t flush properly. Asked for a walk in shower but got a bath. Meandering corridors.
Beautiful grounds. Lovely, clean room and public areas. Very friendly staff. Food was amazing.
We loved everything about our stay. Can't fault a thing.
