Lovely hotel . Clean and comfortable.
Everything you need for a comfortable stay.
Room was great, but not serviced during the stay. Breakfast was fine. The evening meals, especially the fish and chips were awful!
The evening meal especially the battered cod and chips were truly awful. I’m one of those people who don’t complain even when they should. The ‘cod’ and chips as advertised turned out to be two prawns battered and fried, a small piece of white fish battered and fried and a piece of salmon battered and fried. All the fish/shellfish was fried to oblivion. You couldn’t even tell a prawn was inside the batter and above all it wasn't even what was advertised. It was horrible. The day before the pork (obviously left over From the Sunday lunch was about 60% soft fat. I overheard someone behind me mentioning that there was no pork crackling, it was just soft fat. I have stayed here several times during the last 5 months, and the meals on this visit were the worst by far. Most staff are usually amenable, but on this occasion there were several who were just rude or nonchalant to say the least. Overall not an enjoyable stay.
Breakfast was amazing with quality ingredients
Hotel staff was lovely
Grounds were well kept and plenth of parking space
Nothing
Perfectly located for our needs, lovely staff, great breakfast and generous portions in Oscar’s for dinner, also a lovely big comfy bed.
Room was too hot overnight, couldn’t leave windows open as ground floor, fan provided just blew warm air around. There is no mirror at the dressing table. No power sockets beside the bed. You couldn’t have single bedside light on as switches operated several lights at once. Very creaky floor. Sound proofing from the floor of the room above was poor, we were woken at 7.10am by the sound of them walking around and around their room for nearly two hours.
Room was comfortable, breakfast great, and welcoming staff
Too hot and no signal
Lovely room, spacious and very comfortable bed.
Oscars fabulous as usual..
Was nothing to dislike.
Lovely lady who was very helpful Diane, comfortable rooms
Breakfast very disappointing
Comfortable stay friendly staff great coffee at breakfast even though it’s from a machine
clean room, good breakfast.
there were some very noisy guests outside the rooms in the early hours around 2am and didn't seem to disperse when asked. guests should be reminded when arriving late in the evening or in the early hours to be respectful! there didn't seem to be any signs reminding guests!
Convenient and close to, for a party we were attending
We have stayed here a number of times over the years for various reasons since we have moved from Wrexham. We find that the hotel is a little tired now and in need of some improvements. We were also disappointed that we asked permission for our friends to join us for breakfast when we stayed on the 7/8th Feb and when they got there, they were told that they were too late as breakfast stopped at 10am and it said 10.30am on the website! We did finally all get breakfast after some persuasion with the kitchen staff. Our stay 21/22nd February was much the same. Disappointing when the hot breakfast was being taken away at 9.45am when it was supposed to be served until 10.00am. All very rushed and stressful!!! Also seats in the restaurant were very stained. Could definitely do with a good clean. And we couldn’t get a night cap because 12o’clock when we returned to the hotel because there was a wedding on. The guy on reception didn’t even offer to get a drink for us and charge it to our room.
We held a formal dinner here in Feb 2026, and have nothing but praise for everything. Communication with the events team was excellent, with nothing a problem- we had less people attend and were offered a smaller room to hold our function, with no questions or hassle. On the evening, everyone was made to feel welcome, the room was lovely and warm, and laid out lovely. Staff were always on hand, with the food being served and cleared efficiently. Oh and the food was top quality. Thank you, and I will definitely be recommending to others looking to hold a function. Diolch
Location was handy for easy access to motorway. Nice coffee machine at breakfast
Bedroom 7 was freezing cold, could not get radiator to work. Breakfast food was cold. Poached eggs asked for (know they are freshly cooked) massively overcooked and took 15mins to deliver.
