Jackson's Hotel & Leisure Club

I stayed with my two children for one night in Jacksons Hotel and had a very enjoyable stay. We were greeted at the front desk by Bojo. He is a fabulous asset to the hotel! He made us feel very welcome and made a big fuss over the children, which they loved. He made sure to engage with them any time we were in the reception area. The bedroom was beautiful. We were in a dormer room, which had a sitting area and was more like a suite than a bedroom. The room and bathroom were spotless. All of the staff we encountered were excellent. The bar staff, the bar manager, the breakfast staff and the leisure centre staff all went out of their way to make sure we had an enjoyable stay.
We owe a very special word of thanks to the housekeeping staff member Denise. She found my child's teddy which he had left behind in this bed and located us as we were leaving the swimming pool. If it wasn't for Denise we would have had a very upset little man when we got home!!
Thank you Denise, Bojo and all of the fantastic team at Jacksons. We can't wait to return.

My mother and her friend stayed with at the Jackson Hotel on Sunday and Monday night in February 2026. They had excellent service from the hotel. In my mother's words, "nothing was too much trouble, we were treated like royalty". My mother and her best friend , both in their 80's love to go on adventures, but age is unfortunately slowing them a little and they do need a bit more help on occasions.

From someone seeing them arriving in the car park and going out of their way to assist bringing their cases in, to catering to my mother's failing appetite and ensuring she wasn't overwhelmed with food, to being remembered by staff from their visit the previous year, to the lovely service by all staff.

This meant so much to them both and to our families knowing that they were well taken care of.

Based on their reviews, I would highly recommend this hotel and will certainly consider for bringing my own children also.

We, a family of 7 ( grandparents, children and grandchildren) thoroughly enjoyed a two-night break in Jackson’s.
All of our allocated rooms were clean and comfortable.
Breakfast on both mornings was varied and plentiful with hot and cold selections.
Our evening 3-course dinner was excellent on both occasions.

Staff throughout the hotel - reception, bar staff, restaurant staff, room attendants - were friendly yet very professional.

I would highly recommend this hotel and we hope to return again very soon.

....booked this hotel for a midweek stay.
We booked with the understanding that nearby Gallen's bar would be providing a 'Trad. music night' on the Tuesday (as advertised). However, we were very disappointed to be informed by the bar staff on arrival that there was no music scheduled for that evening (or indeed for any Tuesday evening in February).
....this hotel should at least remove the statement that music is available on a Tuesday evening.

Jackson's Hotel, Ballybofey, Co. Donegal. My wife and I have stayed at this hotel on numerous occasions over recent years. I now think it is time we shared this wonderful experience with the rest of the world. Jackson's is a first class hotel with splendid rooms, many with scenic river views. The catering is first class and the restaurant and bar staff are considerate and attentive at all times. Cleanliness throughout the establishment is beyond reproach. I thoroughly recommend if you are in that part of the world make sure you include Jacksons in your itinerary.

Had a great weekend stay here. Staff are really friendly and nothing is too much trouble. Hotel is lovely inside, had a roaring fire going when we arrived. Singer in the bar was fantastic and the pair the following night were great too. Had a meal in the restaurant which was great, and great service. Used the leisure facilities as well, pool, jacuzzi etc which was all great. Can't wait for our next stay I think we will be regular visitors. Though maybe turn the heat down a bit the rooms are roasting😜

Get a receipt when you pay for your stay. At checkout the receptionist said that we hadn't paid for our stay. Where in fact we had paid cash upon arrival,but were not issued with a receipt. I asked him to ring the receptionist who checked us in and took payment. In the time being my son and I went to the pool and my husband, who's a quiet, reserved person waited in the foyer, obviously unbeknownst to the staff. Whilst there,the staff were discussing us and asking if we had paid our bill. My husband sat feeling like a criminal. Upon returning from the pool the receptionist was on the phone to the receptionist whom checked us in and thankfully she remembered taking payment.
Our stay up to checkout was lovely, relaxing,good food, large clean rooms.
I will definitely go back, as these things happen.

Family of 6, our large room was over the bar and live music. Very disappointed in this location. Unsettled kids unable to sleep. Food and staff were very good. Disappointed that the hotel do not have family rooms in a quieter end of the hotel. Would not recommend for families for this reason, please ask when booking. No mention of entertainment and where our room was positioned. Such a pity as staff and the food were very good.

Four of us booked in for an overnight stay. We were greeted and booked in with Maria on front desk who was very professional, answered all our questions and helped book us dinner reservation. Our room was clean with all we needed. Only issue was the noise the floor made every time we moved or adjoining room. Otherwise perfect. Evening meal was lovely and good choice at breakfast. We also met Flynn who got us a bottle of water each for bedroom which was very much appreciated. Overall a lovely stay and would recommend.

Myself and my partner stayed for one night b&b and we had a lovely relaxing time, Fara’s bar and restaurant was lovely and homely, great atmosphere. We had a meal in the restaurant in the evening and the food was absolutely amazing, we had the steak and the teriyaki beef, it was to die for. We spent the evening in the pool, steam room and sauna, it was quite busy but we enjoyed it! We spent the night in the bar and the music was fantastic, bar staff was friendly, it was lovely and relaxing! Breakfast in the morning was absolutely beautiful, so much on offer, we asked for poached eggs and it was no problem, Denise the manager was very helpful and very friendly, we definitely will be back for another break and possibly take the wanes the next time!

AMAZING.....A must for anyone to come and enjoy the warm welcome , great atmosphere and food the staff are second to none always eager to help and provide the best service at a price you can afford. I organise both a mid term social dance weekend and a pre Christmas event and could not complain about the welcome and service both myself and my clients are given . 5 star without a doubt and here’s to many more outings .

Went as part of the oakfield Santa experience and it was amazing from start to finish. The staff in the hotel were all amazing. So welcoming and friendly and nothing was a problem to them. Hotel very clean and beautiful. There was a young girl on reception and I can’t remember her name but do know she is 21 2 mro (24 Dec) I feel I need to mention her as she really made the stay extra special she was exceptional with all the children and had such a lovely, friendly, professional way about her.

We went to the hotel as part of the Oakfield park Christmas experience.
We loved it from when we arrived, fantastic staff throughout, so helpful and lovely to children.
The santa experience/grotto at the hotel was excellent ... there was also a movie and hot chocolate/cookie in tje evening.

We only had breakfast at the hotel which was very good, plenty of choice

Good sized clean room/refurbished bathroom.

Pool was lovely with jacuzzi.

We were so looking forward to our visit but we're sadly left disappointed, the room was small and while the bathroom was newly renovated a tile on the floor seemed to have been left ungrouted which left it wobbly and uneven, the pressure in the shower was literally nonexistent, I thought it was broken so reported it to reception who sent up someone to take a look but it did not make any difference so that just must be the pressure.The noise from the bar was thumping though the floor so not ideal with a family as we were right above it. It's a miracle that no children were scolded at breakfast time with the amount running around, it only a testament to the staff that no one was hurt. The pool was lovely as were the staff in the pool area and the staff at breakfast, they had their work cut out for them!

Our stay at Jacksons was very enjoyable. The hotel staff were friendly, without exception. The atmosphere is cosy, the room was clean and comfortable with a modern spotless shower room.

Our only issue was with the size of the bed. It was a double but we found it small, compared to what we’re used to. Next time we will request a bigger bed or a twin.
For me, the exceptional variety of food was fantastic. I am dairy intolerant and there was a separate menu, not only for dairy free, but also gluten free and vegan. What a joy to just pick from a menu, instead of having to constantly ask, “Is there dairy in this?” I was amazed that they could produce 4 different menus, even at lunch in the bar.
We have travelled a lot, worldwide, and I have never experienced this before.
Well done, Jackson’s hotel! Well done to all the staff, especially Caroline.
We will be back.

Excellent hotel, have been several times with family, kids love the friendly staff and food every Christmas (we have been 4 years in a row) and asked to spend their birthday here this year too! We enjoy every time we stay. Hope to be back soon.

Spotlessly clean with very friendly staff..
All the facilities you would require for a short trip away.
Food was of a very good quality also.
Will definitely be staying again.

Short break in Ballybofey but would have loved to stay longer in Jacksons Hotel. Friendly greeting on arrival super comfortable room and very efficient staff to guide and advise us on food and drinks menu. Irish coffees were beautiful also.
