Holiday Inn Express & Suites Lufkin South by IHG

Booked this room through their app which was super easy. Upon check-in received complimentary bottles of water for being a rewards member with them. The room was one with king bed including a sitting area which was nice to have the extra space to lounge after a long day of driving. The bed was comfy and walk in shower was spacious. The free continental breakfast had many options which included instant oatmeal, scrambled eggs, bacon, turkey sausage, potatoes, toast, muffins, bagels, cereal bar and hot oatmeal, yogurt, hard boiled eggs and a pancake station. Overall our stay was very nice! Would highly recommend this hotel to other travelers.

Staff were friendly but didn’t provide room cleaning during our stay, had to ask for coffee items that weren’t replenished. Lots of door slamming at 3am don’t make for a good night’s sleep. (Pool is unheated and not cleaned)

It was a quick check in. really nice room, clean bathroom, spacious room, and beautiful veiw. we enjoyed the clean refreshing swimming pool.

We’ve stayed here for many years at this specific hotel in Lufkin. Last few it’s began to go downhill. This trip - will be my last. Front counter people for the past 3 days have been rude. No smile. As if their jobs were awful. Only one who has been sweet and had a smile was a young black lady. She’s been here for the past several trips in.
Toilet was stopped up the first use when we arrived. 30 min later guy walks in with a plunger. Told them the phone didn’t work so we had to go down to them to tell them. Nobody has looked at it.
Day 3 - toilet backs up again. This time, they gave my husband a plunger to clean it himself!!!
Hallways and elevators smell like skunk. Housekeeping decided to go in our room even with a sign on door. Then next day we sat trash at door outside so it could be emptied - nope. Still there end of day but this time they didn’t come in our room - thankfully.
We will not return here ever. Holiday Inn is going downhill with this location. And not one person seems to care. Loyal customer- you just lost this one.

I would like to start off by saying that my visit to the hotel was amazing and worth my stay and i will visit this hotel in the future and will recommend it to friends and family anytime and the location is awesome so continue with all the polite and friendly staff and employees and the business will forever sky rocket.

Room smelled musty. Several other people staying there said the same. Don’t know if house keepers used a sour mop. Otherwise this was a decent hotel.

Ashley at the front desk was very friendly and accommodating. She checked on us and provided any needs we may have had. Check in and check was very smooth. We will definitely be back per usual!

Pool needs repair and cleaning at the top rim of the pool. Breakfast lady on my last day was very rude. Ran out of eggs two mornings at breakfast which I thought was unacceptable. Cleaning staff ladies are very nice and helpful. This is my fourth time to stay here and I will have to think real hard if I’m gonna stay there again.

Great place to stay

Check-in was easy. Rooms were nice. I used the gym and got in a good workout. Beds were comfortable. Breakfast was delicious with some great options.

The hotel website said “Newly Renovated”, but there were areas in need of repair or cleaning. When I went for breakfast there was none left. I asked the server on duty and was told it was 10:00 am. I looked at my watch and said it was 9:45. She stated it was alsmost 10:00 and there would not be anymore made. Can’t believe I paid 185 for this.
