This historic “home” hotel was just lovely. Nicely appointed. We checked into a lovely wine and cheese tasting. We were assigned room 3 and our friends were in room 2. The rooms were fantastic. Beautifully appointed. Both rooms had enormous tubs. I hated the low beds close to the ground in the Asian style with no box spring but the bed was comfy so it was fine.
We got up the next morning and had a wonderful breakfast. The coffee was fantastic as was the omelette. We left around 9 am abs didn’t return until about 8:45 pm. We were greeted to a room FULL of ants. They were everywhere. In the bed, beside both night tables, in the bathroom, in our luggage. Mind you there are signs all over the property that say put food away in proper containers but we had no food with us. We brought one bottle of water and ironically they weren’t near that.
We called the night emergency line and they moved us to room 4 - which was also lovely and ant free. I’m just glad they had an open room. Ironically room four has a nicer bed but the bathroom isn’t as stunning as room 2 and 3.
We left the next morning before the desk officially opened but I’m so grateful the night help was able to get us set up in another room. It could have been so bad.
Despite the ants I would stay again. It was a lovely property in a beautiful location
Can't recommend. The Gaige Suite was really expensive and disappointing for many reasons. Lots of traffic noise because the inn is off of a busy street. The in room fireplace and patio fire pit only worked for about half of the days we were there and they did not fix it for 2 days and did not adjust our room rate. The hot water ran out when the large soaking tub was only 25% full. The website pictures of the patio are very misleading; our patio looked like it would be quiet and private but it was right above and exposed to a common area. However, the breakfast was great!
Shout-out to the attentive staff! We loved the personalized touch of a property tour at check-in and enjoyed the intimate atmosphere of the evening happy hour. While our room was on the smaller side, it was clean and functional.
Our stay at Gaige House felt less like checking into a hotel and more like stepping into a true reset.
From the first call with Crystal, who was straightforward and accommodating, to the seamless check-in with Michelle and Pam, the hospitality was genuine and dialed in. The wine tasting and charcuterie hosted by B.R. Cohn was a strong touch. The team anticipated what we needed without hovering, which is harder to pull off than it looks.
The Asian-inspired design gives the property a calm, focused feel without being overdone. Our Ryokan Zen Creekside Suite was outstanding. It wraps around a private atrium, has a fireplace, and opens to a patio overlooking Calabazas Creek. With the rain outside, it felt quiet and grounded. The granite soaking tub and double shower were excellent, and the oversized platform king bed delivered one of the best nights of sleep we’ve had in a while.
We had dinner at Songbird Parlour nearby, then came back for a soak in the hot tub. Breakfast the next morning was delicious, soft scrambled eggs, sourdough French toast with fresh fruit, granola parfait, fresh-squeezed orange juice, and Illy coffee.
We left feeling rested and genuinely impressed. Gaige House manages to balance comfort, style, and substance in a way that’s rare. It was a great stay from start to finish.
We had an amazing stay at the Gaige House. The location is well-acquainted to be near both Sonoma and Napa wineries. The room was very spacious and it had everything we need. We got bath robes; bottles of water everyday; the bathroom was huge! They have the capability to cast your streaming service. The AC unit is so quiet that we weren't bothered. We had a good night sleep. The only call out was the light outside the door that we didn't know how to turn off. The breakfast was adequate and served in this cute space. We weren't able to use the pool because it was cold. We did avail massage service which was phenomenal! If you ever go - ask for Tony and Peter! The best therapists we had in a long time.
I enjoy the quiet area away from traffic but close enough to the main streets to get around. Daily delightful healthy breakfasts. The staff were very understanding of allergies and other needs of guests, as well as accommodating of every request. The extra bottles of water in the room were a nice touch.
My wife and I stayed at the Gaige House from Jan 5 - 8 and had a fabulous experience. It was part of a 50th wedding celebration for us which was on the 3rd. We were treated very graciously at check - in with congratulations on our anniversary. We had a beautiful room, and nicely furnished. Lovely fireplace too! The grounds are rustic with lots of trees and a flowing creek behind our unit. They did a very nice breakfast with some different offerings each morning. The front desk was very accommodating with suggestions for nearby restaurants. And I loved the happy hours each day from 4:30 - 6 where they set out a nice compliment of cheese and fruit along with 4 bottles of wine. And in an adjacent sitting room they set out bottles of port wine and sake to sip and relax.
Beautiful Ryokan-like boutique hotel with a wonderful staff and lovely amenities
We’re Lifetime Platinum Elite / Titanium Elite with Marriott properties, and my husband travels extensively for work in the entertainment industry. We were in the area for my birthday (New Year’s Eve) and our honeymoon weekend. We could have stayed elsewhere on points, but we chose Gaige House because the property looked special — and it truly is. The grounds are beautiful, our creekside room was lovely, and the tub was a highlight. Our arrival and stay were great.
However, the checkout experience unfortunately changed our entire impression. At midnight on New Year’s Eve, a nearby firehouse sounded air-raid/siren-style alarms. We were asleep and woke up panicked, unsure whether there was an emergency or evacuation, especially given the fast-flowing creek outside our room and a week of heavy rain. We searched online and couldn’t find any info, so we eventually assumed it must be a New Year’s tradition.
At checkout, when asked how things were, I shared positive feedback and then mentioned the sirens only as a friendly heads-up so the hotel could consider warning guests in advance next year. The staff member became unexpectedly defensive, demanded to know where we live (Santa Cruz - We know flash floods and fires!), and repeatedly emphasized it wasn’t the hotel’s fault, which I never suggested. I was trying to be helpful.
That single interaction completely overshadowed what was otherwise a wonderful stay. A simple heads-up at check-in (or a note in the room) about the New Year’s sirens — and a warmer, less defensive response at checkout — would prevent this from happening again.
I was genuinely trying to be helpful, but the staff member’s reaction was surprisingly rude and dismissive, especially for a property at this price point. I had been telling everyone from the moment we checked in how magical Gaige House was, but based on that checkout experience, I will not return, and I won’t recommend it.
Stunning Location, The overall facility is very well appointed, cozy, modern yet charming, had a heated swimming pool, surrounded by nature, close to redwood groves, hiking trails, a Michelin star restaurant, and quiet, scenic areas. Very tranquil zen atmosphere, tucked away in nature. Room that we had booked was a Japanese Ryokan-style space with Karesansui (rock garden), a signature granite bathtub, with comfortable furniture, with fireplace, private gardens in patio overlooking a creek.
The wifi was non-operational in the room we had booked. But the management was considerate enough to move us to another room. It was still intermittent in another room and they were expecting a technician to come fix it after the weekend.
Location. Room . Staff
Brick sidewalk that was very uneven and was a trip hazard.
The room coffee machines were old and took forever to brew the coffee.
Great rooms and bathrooms.
Staff were slightly strange, dealt with some standard requests very poorly.
הכול
הכל היה מצוין
Stunning setting
A little far from everything you probably want to see and do in the region
SO GLAD we decided to stay at Gaige House! Staff was fantastic! Breakfast and afternoon cookies were perfect perks, but afternoon cheese/meat board with wine hour was extra special treat each day. Walked minutes down the road to fine dining and casual dining as well. Room has double spa shower heads and gas fireplace which were perfect. Ran into several locals on Staycation, so I knew we chose wisely. You won’t regret staying at Gaige House!
Glen Ellen is a nice little town.
The whole place is dark and gloomy, overgrown trees shade the whole place out Japanese inspired suite was v cramped, the courtyards attached to the suite were dark and overgrown and so small to be useless.
