The good? It is undoubtedly the closest hotel to Mont-Saint-Michel (about two miles) with a shuttle stop in front. It has a nice view on the balcony. The bad? The reception is across the street at a nicer hotel. I asked for soap and I was told it was on back order. I had to walk a couple of blocks to a competing hotel and they were happy to provide. I then went to a store a block away to buy some Motrin. I was told the closest drug store was several miles away. In the morning we walked across the street for breakfast. Although they have no soap for guests the breakfast was a typical euro breakfast,
Location to Mont St Michael is great. Breakfast is average.
Certainly a European idea of a bathroom.
Perfect location for walking or catching the shuttle to the island. Restaurant for breakfast has a lovely view - breakfast is pastries, toast, fresh baguettes and cold meats. Rooms are small but adequate. Free parking is across the road. Good wifi. Rooms a little tired but still fine.
The excellent hotel, spacious rooms and bathrooms, wonderful breakfast and very special staff, attentive, willing to help you with whatever you need, very friendly, and at an incredible price
Oh my goodness, where to start? The room I stayed in was an annex to the main hotel. Upon arrival I had to check in at the hotel opposite and pick up an access code to the annex. Staff were friendly, my room clean. Unfortunately, that’s where the positives end!
It really looks like the management of this hotel is living entirely on the view and everything looks run down and in need of serious modernisation. Carpets, furniture and furnishings are all tatty and stale, windows thick with dirt and look like they haven’t been cleaned in years. The restaurant looks like an inferior motorway service station cafeteria!
As there wasn’t a great deal of choice regarding restaurants in the local area I decided to eat at the hotel. After waiting for a little while I was greeted by an Napoleon-like head waiter wearing tight jeans and sporting an over-hanging stomach! Food was very expensive (unless you opted for the meal deal) and a bottle of cider would set one back €27. Amazing! The same bottle costs £2.70 in supermarkets back home. My snails seemed well cooked (I wouldn’t really know as it’s the first time I’ve tasted them) although my chicken dry and chocolate soufflé overcooked. Service was also extremely slow.
Next day’s breakfast was even worse. Tinned fruit, sloppy scrambled eggs and uncleared tables. No doubt due to a lack of staff.
So mostly negatives with a sprinkling of positives thrown in. Lovely views but when rooms costing between £80-100 per night this is very expensive for what is provided.
Lindo!!! Excelente custo-benefício!
Room was comfy and clean but there was no hot water so we had to wash up using cold water. Place was a bit run down but the bed and pillows were comfortable and the room was clean.
Hotel was nice, but reception is across the street at Le Relais St Michael. I messaged Hotel La Digue 4 times prior to arrival to get access code to the gate at La Caserne, they never gave it to me.... If this happens to you, there is a call button at the gate. Push the button and explain issue to the operator and they will open the gate and you pay when you leave. Breakfast at Le Relais was nice and view was amazing.
