The room was very comfortable, nice and quiet, good bed etc.
The problem was I was never told the road outside the hotel was completely closed in both directions until 11:30am because of a race of some kind. Signs for this were poor but I did ask the staff, who said they knew nothing about it, I also asked the race organisers who said the hotel was informed. I suspect someone decided they needed the money from suckers like me

Major problem with room as water would not turn off and I could not run the bathwater away and then no one answered the phone either. Ended up having to get dressed again and going to reception (long walk) and getting 2 men (night manager) to come to my bedroom to sort it out. At first they could not do this and then one rolled up his sleeves and used a teaspoon to prise open the plug so the bath could drain. The water still continued to run and I could not use bath or shower in the morning. I had a disturbed night and lack of sleep before work the next day. I reported the problem to the night managers obviously and then again in the morning and then further by telephone when I did not receive a response to my formal complaint and reduction in the fee which I had prepaid.

When the temperature was around 9°C, the hot water is not working.
The room was beautifully presented & very clean. Bedding was immaculate & bed very comfortable. Breakfast was plentiful & delicious.
My Tv did not work & when I flushed the loo the mechanism got stuck & continuously flushed but staff did fix it straight away,
We usually use Premier Inn, but this was nicer.
Be even nicer when renovation is complete

Short overnight stay, good value for money
Room was hot took a long time for ac to cool
It was familiar
Very nicely appointed room and bathroom, (but see comments on the shower later). Very comfortable bed, blackout curtains and a kettle with plenty of tea, coffee and milk. A bar and excellent restaurant in the evening with plenty of choices for all tastes. In the morning - full on English breakfast buffet plus full Continental with breads, croissants, cheese, cereals, salami, fruit, yoghurt, a quick toaster and an excellent diy coffee machine catering for any requirement.
The hotel is 20mins from the Channel Tunnel which is very convenient. There is also a Sainsbury's petrol station a few minutes away if you need to top up.
The only thing I found rather strange was the walk-in shower; which had the shower at one end and the taps at the other. Because of the distance between the taps and shower head any change of temperature took a long time to propagate to the shower. Consequently trying to adjust the temperature was a bit hit and miss - walking back and forth tweaking the tap until a sensible temperature was achieved.
Only a small thing but certainly a waste of time & water!

LACK OF SHELVING/DRAWERS FOR STAYS OF MORE THAN ONE NIGHT (ALTHOUGH THIS MAY BE TO CUT CLEANING TIME AND COST), THE DISTANCE FROM RECEPTION TO DISABLED ROOM (N0 134), THE AMOUNT OF WORK BEING CARRIED OUT BLOCKING OFF ROOM ACCESS AND HAVING TO WALK ABOUT 100 METRES VIA THE BAR AREA MEANING NO ADEQUATE LIGHTING AT NIGHT, THE CONTRACTORS DID NOT CLOSE THE DOOR TO THE PAINT STORE AT NIGHT (POTENTIAL FIRE HAZARD), ONLY ENTRANCE TO ROOM VIA FIRE EXIT WHICH WAS LOCKED CLOSED ON 2 OCCASIONS NECESSITATING RETURN TO RECEPTION TO OPEN UP THE DOOR

No bench outside
Easy to find, easy to park- check in was simple. Staff were all lovely!
First morning I was disturbed by house keeping even though I had a sign on the door saying come back later.
There aren’t any plug sockets near the bed or mirror- so makes it impossible to charge your phone at night or get ready in the day. Also no fridge so my food/drink had to just sit on the side.
When organising people’s stay- if you aren’t busy then put the guests a room apart not next to other guests as my neighbours were up very late chatting in bed.
Restaurant staff was lovely but perhaps they would all benefit from some training as I had to drink Prosecco out of a wine glass and they had to go up and down the stairs multiple times as they forgot sauces for chips even though it was requested when ordering.
