The hotel was decent for the price, and conveniently located next to the airport with a free shuttle service. The customer service was good, the employees were nice. The rooms are a bit outdated, but they’re ok. Food from room service was not very good.
Spent a week this month at this hotel in Accra. Loved the look of the spacious reception (to me it is a no frills hotel really), but on arrival I was hit by the smell of damp. Either the system got used to this cos by the day the smell ebbed. Or I arrived on a rug clean day??
My favorite space was the shower. Beautiful, had hot, hot, pressured water and the usual amenities.
The restaurant served a good array of fresh goodies and great service.
Had a situation of damp floors on floor 4 standard room and was upgraded to a floor 6 lux room. Trust me it is a million kms between floor 4 and 6 (or perhaps between standard and lux rooms. The towels were softer, the bathroom amenities smelled nicer. Thank you, Holiday Inn!
Friday nights by the poolside are a ‘must not miss’. There was a live band and great ambiance. All ended in time for my bedtime fortunately.
All in all, great place with very polite and helpful staff.
I’ll recommend the Holiday Inn Accra to anyone who enjoys a less frilly, business-type hotel.
This hotel is like a home for me. Everybody at reception so good and always helpful. I have been coming here for many years happily… Only one thing this time surprised me .. the chef in the kitchen who prepare food for breakfast, lunch and dinner… Every morning during my stay (around 1 week) i had to eat food with a lot of pepper… in rice, chicken, noodle, spaghetti etc and some other food despite i complained by calling him, talking to reception and their superior, i could not get any result. As i was too busy i did not have time to change hotel or eat somewhere else. I had several time problem with my stomach and other intestine problems repeatedly came back… i suffered… i wanted to talk to their general manager but each time i asked if he is in the hotel, they said he is not in the hotel. İndeed i am not happy to write here about this issue but i wanted someone to tell the chefs to stop this nonsense stubbornness … Holiday inn hotels are chain hotels, we trust their brand and stay in these hotels in many coyntries. These hotels are not toy in someone’s hands.. chefs must give more importance about humain health. Also i dont like the quality of pastry sfuff in the buffet either. I hope SOMEONE WITH COMMON SENSE WILL STOP THEM. If someone wants to eat a lot of pepper, he can add on his food but he has no right to make me to go to hospitals when i came back to my country.
Arrived lat...ish via KLM flight. Had a couple of beers, bar staff were friendly.
Ladies of the night approached us but you just have to accept this in Africa.
Breakfast was alright with plenty of choices. Bedrooms were ok, a bit bare but clean
Beautiful interior! Wonderful breakfast and other meals. Great spacious rooms! After staying in a hotel in Cape Coast, where we didn't have running water every day, this was a treat. LOVED it! All of the staff were gracious!
Service at the counter was excellent but management and leadership were poor and uncreative. I found stains on the bedsheet and the mattress. The manager at the hotel flat out told me I could take my business somewhere which I did for a difference of $30 dollars. I was willing to pay $150 to sleep on the stained mattress instead of $180 dollars.
Customer service at the Accra Holiday Inn is lacking. Also had a similar experience being assigned to a smoking room. Difficult management group to work with when changes are needed.
Our company will consider other properties first when returning to Accra.
The service was not good to me
Holiday Inn Accra is a convenient location directly across from Kotoka Airport. You can actually walk if you have only a few bags. Food was good. Rooms were clean and comfortable. It was a good stay in Accra. I would recommend to anyone who needs an affordable and comfortable place to stay.
Internet was unusable for more than a majority my three week stay. Room was wildly over-priced. Above what I was quoted on 'Hotels.com'. The furniture was uncomfortable and lacked space. TV is outdated and not user friendly. Shower was slow to drain and would back up into your standing area less than 5 minutes into your wash. Everyone is looking for ways to take advantage of visitors to Accra; Holiday Inn is no exception.
Rooms are outdated and smells moldy wet and parts of the ceilings are having leaks and falling off, the carpets to the rooms are water stained and smell wet
Room was terrible, washrooms looked very dirty.
Always i stay here in Accra. Receptionists are wonderful such as Miss Gifty, Sarah, Vanessa and others. Ypu can find everything here. I suggest to everyone. Near to airport, there is free shuttle, spa, near to mall etc
I suggest to everyoneI suggest everybody.
very smelly damp room had to sleep with mask on
The property is very old, and the general standard is poor. Basic thinks such as towels are not in good order. The bed is tiny and the sheets are basic. Light switches are not close to bed like all hotels, this one is opposite the bed.
The location is great for easy access to the airport and Marina Mall.
Customer service levels really very depending on who you are dealing with. The receptionist who checked us in was pleasant, we had a query with regards to our booking so she called her supervisor, also fairly pleasant but very laid back with no sense of urgency or priority to assist.
We were told we would be given a twin room but when we got upstairs it was a double room, they then changed us to a twin room with an awful smell of damp. Finally we got a twin room with less of damp smell!
On the morning of our departure we spent between 30- 45 minutes locked out of our room because the battery for the lock had died so our key cards wouldn't let us in.
Overall the hotel has great potential, the public areas are clean and well maintained, the food tastes nice with variety of options.
The bedrooms require a bit of updating and the damp smell needs to be addressed.
More importantly a real focus on customer service and attention to detail is required in order for the hotel to achieve the international standards that travellers/guests expect and deserve.
Although a little rough around the edges, there are staff members who are doing a great job, the lady from the gift shop is very helpful.
Salieu from the restaurant is very attentive and pro active, George, who runs the shuttle service between the hotel and airport went above and beyond the call of duty Barbara the Guest relations manager is amazing. We were also fortunate enough to meet the hotel manager who introduced himself to us during breakfast this was a nice touch and greatly appreciated.
I would return to the hotel in the hope that the feedback given translates into service improvement which would make a much more pleasant stay.
Friendly service but rooms were jaded and in need of upgrade. Approached by hookers on the terrace (in front of staff). Twin room, not queen bed. Helpful airport transfer. Breakfast adequate. Just needs a lot of upgrading to meet the rather hefty single night hotel charge.
Good
Not recommended at all
Reception checked me into a Smoking room without clearing this with me and had to change into a non smoking room not to mention the delays after a 6.5hours flight
Bed linen, towels are not clean and had requested to change them upon check in
Room door lock is not working so for you to close your door on your way out you need to use the keycard repeatedly hoping it works and following repeated requests from maintenance they said they can’t fix this at the moment as door hinges are out of place!!!!
Air condition is a mess, you can’t turn it off so it’s either freezing cold or super hot following requesting maintenance, they turned off room ventilation completely where there is no window and was left suffocating inside
Reaching out to reception over the phone is a miracle, you might get luck at the 15th attempt and usually without any kind of follow up for your request!!!
I'm a loyal customer of holiday Inn, staying minimum of 60 days in a year at their hotel. In my recent stays on May, June, September and October 2022, my points were not updated to my account. I have made several follow-up up in person and through emails. There is no response until now.
This is really terrible and definitely not a right way to handle premium customers. Now I completely hate this chain of hotels.
