Hyatt Place Grand Rapids South

Location was nice but the room had a few repairs needed. Breakfast bar was limited with empty dishes. Pool water was cold.

We have stayed here several times and it is very clean, the rooms are nice and the staff is very friendly. It is very well situated because you can go to Gun Lake Casino or use it as a halfway point to get UpNorth.

They had us down for a no show. I checked in got 2 keys. Next I'm at a funeral I get a call saying I'm a no show. Said I checked in got 2 keys. I was worried about my room so left the family earlier than we wanted to but we were worried. My husband is 85 and has a terrible back. We get to the 3rd floor go to our that is at the end of the hall. Can't get in our room. We had bottles of water with us and a bag of groceries. So my husband stayed by the room. While I went and got keys.
His back was really hurting him and he couldn't sit. I think I should be compensated some how. They would not call me back. No one. So I called the main busy office. Waiting to hear from them.

This place ruined our trip and after countless phone calls being kind to them and giving them grace they still
Refuse to contact me back. Bad morals… bad business bad hotel. Don’t recommend.

We always stay here! We love it! The rooms are amazing. The breakfast buffet is outstanding The staff is helpful & friendly.

It was clean but had no phone in my room and there was nothing to properly clean workout equipment. The breakfast was also really good.

Nice hotel. Nice rooms. When we walked in though we were greeted by the front desk manager, or assistant manager, who had on a mesh see through shirt with just a bra underneath. She might as well been naked. Very unprofessional. I’m a Hyatt employee for a different Hyatt and still can’t believe what she was wearing. We have uniforms for a reason. And for her to be a manager is insane to me.

I have been a Globalist (or equivalent) for over 25 consecutive years, so very loyal Hyatt customer. I have had bad service at this property repeatedly - including last January when the hotel did not have hot water and failed to contact me before I arrived so that I could stay at the downtown Hyatt Place or another property (I mean who expects a warm shower in January in Michigan). I have had two problems both times that i have tried to use an electronic Hyatt gift card purchased directly from Hyatt. That was my issue again today. New management, same bad service and terrible follow-up.

Digital key not working - Internet down.
Had to switch rooms twice. Once due to strobe light in bathroom. Second time, the bathtub clogged immediately upon taking shower. I was sharing the room with a friend who could not shower due to clogged tub.
Bar/dining service not operational. Had to order take out.
No coffee in the morning. Did not use breakfast service.

The room and hotel were very clean. The hotel was very quiet. The personnel were very hospitable. The bed was quite comfortable. However, the breakfast was quite inadequate for a Hyatt chain. The eggs were hard and cold. There was no meat and no yogurt. There was mold onto two of the oranges. The only fruit was apple and oranges. The oatmeal was as thick as paste. We were quite disappointed in the meal. It appeared as if the breakfast was incredibly limited due to the fact that there were a few individuals using the hotel last night.

Clean room

Toilet paper holder was coming off the wall. The tap in the sink spun around. Had to ask for lotion and facial tissue as non was restocked in my room. The last straw was when I opened the refrigerator and found 2 boxes of left over dried up pizza and bread sticks assumingly from the previous occupant. The outside grounds by ashtrays was littered with cigarette butts and one ashtray with the lid off was so full of trashI didn’t even use it and deposited my snuffed out butt in the larger trash can.

Overall, Hyatt Place Grand Rapids-South did not disappoint. It was convenient for our trip needs. Property was very clean and the room suitable. We especially appreciate the walk-in showers and bath products. Two areas that were disappointing: Housekeeping did not provide service during our stay. The breakfast offered by the hotel was not appealing: scrambled eggs were cold (and we arrived a few minutes after breakfast began), and only sausage was an accompanying option. Staff were professional and friendly.

It was the worse experience I have had the key would not work were told had to go to desk every time we wanted to come and go the the rest of the family did not get rooms even though we had confirmation numbers the staff was very rude and was told I could get a refund but it has not happened yet and it is about 20 hours I will never stay at a Hyatt again if this is how you are treated

When walking in you are greeted with a clean modern lobby. Friendly staff. Check in was quick and easy. The room was beyond our expectations and perfect for pur family getaway. The staff was accommodating to needs we had and went above and beyond to help us with simple things.

Parking was well lighted.
AC was in room controlled.
