I am giving 5 stars because all in all, I think it is a great hotel in a GREAT location, however I am still going to list the areas that it could definitely improve upon.
I am currently here, finishing up on just over two weeks. For some reason or another, I got booked into a double queen room. No problem, started requesting a change to a single king right away. They were fully booked out of king's for the first couple of days. No problem, I understand. I kept checking the app for the next time a king would be available. I called each night and asked about the next day -- none available. Finally, I found on the app, two days out, a king was available. Told the girl at the front desk and she said she'd notate that I wanted to switch. I asked if there was anyway they could make the change in their system right now, because I didn't want to chance it being given away. She said, no, but she would notate it. Called the next night and reminded her again because I did not want the day to come and for them to just say "Oh, I am sorry. It was booked." The girl notated it again. Next day came, "Sorry, no king beds available." Figured it would happen. Sad to say, the front desk girls are very very nice, but almost seem to not know 100% what they are doing.
Moving on, about 9 days into my 15 days here, I noticed a suite became available. I had my wife and kids coming to visit and thought I would ask if I could receive a complimentary upgrade, being Titanium, just for the three or four nights that my family would be here for some extra space. The girl at the front desk checked with the manager on duty and said they could do the upgrade, but they would charge the additional $650 per night. I respectfully declined. Kind of defeats the purpose of a complimentary upgrade. I then took the opportunity to bring up how difficult it was to get a different room/upgrade at this Westin out of all of the other Westins I have stayed. I explained that I had been trying to get a king bed for the longest and have had a rough time. She said that she could only upgrade me to a room with lounge access. I explained that I am Titanium and already have lounge access. She said, "Yes sir. I see that, but that is the only complimentary upgrade we can do for you." Very interesting. Maybe I didn't push hard enough? I don't like to be that guy, but I just save my interactions for reviews.
After all of that difficulty, the other things I would say this hotel needs work on are a couple of other minor things. The pillows in the room smell. They have a stale, almost mildew smell. Not like your typical Westin smell where it's very clean.
The lounge. Very, very nice. Especially the evening time. The girl at the front desk during check-in advertised the hours 5 to 10. Sign on the door says 5 to 9. These hours include complimentary wine/beer, hors d'oeuvres and some type of pasta dish. Don't count on these food items being available the entire time though. They only stock them once and when they are gone, they are gone. Usually by 6:30 until the latest of 7:00, the food is all gone and the person assigned to the lounge has already cleaned everything up and put everything away. Very disappointing as it's basically first come first serve and not given over the designated time frame.
Room cleaning is so so. They come in an do a quick freshening of the room, however I have noticed they miss things. I put my dirty towels in the bath tub and sometimes the towels sit there after two times of them cleaning. Sometimes they forget to put a towel down for outside of the shower too. Little things like that, probably shouldn't be overlooked at a place like this with these prices.
The bedding was very comfortable and the bathroom was large enough for 2 people to get ready at the same time. I liked the soaker tub option and loved the herbal soaps!
Was very expensive for a one night stay, however, we understand that you have to pay for luxury.
We love the location of the Edina Westin. It was a cold and blustery day. We were able to go through the tunnel to get to the Galleria to meet friends. We also liked the covered parking so we did not have to deal with snow. The room was quiet, the bed was comfortable and the winter scene set up in the lobby was charming.
We stayed on the Friday night after Christmas. The hotel was very busy. All staff I came in contact with were friendly and helpful.
The free parking in a covered ramp was nice. I failed to realize how busy shopping would be at Galleria and had to drive the ramp twice to find a spot!!
The hotel is connected to Galleria by an underground walkway. We could leave our winter coats in our rooms and walk over!
Many upscale stores and restaurants. We wondered around most of the evening. Had drinks at Pittsburgh Blue and CoV. Then dinner at CRAVE. Nice to be able to have a couple glasses of wine and walk back to the hotel
My room was very clean and spacious. The heavenly bed was indeed heavenly. I slept soundly.
Great location, beautiful hotel, friendly staff
Quiet, clean and friendly staff
The staff was great, the hotel was quiet, and the facilities were clean and beautiful.
清潔で整っていたのがよかった。アメニティは歯磨きセットや子供用のベットなど無料で持ってきてもらえるものが多く良いホテルだった。
スタッフの対応が遅いし親切でない。朝食についての説明がなかった。
Excellent in location and comfort and spaciousness, etc etc.
A large room, a bathrobe, those bathroom amenities that makes one’s stay feel luxurious.
A location such that one could park easily , no charge, and dine and shop at the beautiful Edina shopping center.
Outstanding experience on every level. The hotel is located in suburban Minneapolis and connected to a shopping center. The room was clean and tidy with more amenities than I expected. There was a robe, tray of snacks for purchase and a minibar stocked fridge. Carpet was stained but other than that the room was in good shape. The breakfast in the lounge was totally run of the mill so I only ate there once. Room service breakfast was served quickly and was very good. Did not try the on-site restaurant or bar. There are tons of options for food nearby. Staff was incredibly helpful. I will definitely stay there again when in Minnesota.
This is such a nice hotel! They have a huge pool that I believe is salt water. It has a lounge with free wine and beer at certain times and they offer d’oeuvres and snacks during certain hours along with breakfast. It’s so close to great shopping and restaurants that are within walking distance and they have free parking
convenient location
