Friendly, efficient front-desk service and a smooth late check-out made for a pleasant stay. I enjoyed the Café, Shang Garden, and good Lobby Lounge dishes. However, I was surprised there was no Afternoon Tea on arrival—clearer, bilingual info on availability would help. At the pool, there were no visible towel stations or staff after my swim/shower, so I had to reuse the same towel, which raised a hygiene concern. The rainforest/mist feature was also uncomfortably cold and not adjustable. The “lavender pillow” had little scent. Minor language gaps (e.g., “Afternoon Tea”) suggest a need for targeted English training and signage. Management responded promptly with concrete fixes, which I appreciate. Overall 3/5; I’d return once these refinements are in place.
This hotel has a few pros:
Location - simply unbeatable. Very near to major shopping areas and walking distance to the Metro station and to Futian Railway Station which takes you to HK and other cities in China.
Grand lobby - not something you’d see anymore these days.
Very good service standards (except for housekeeping). You can see that most staff work very hard and are very earnest.
Now the cons:
The rooms are extremely dated, old and in desperate need of major refurbishment and upgrading. This is a very old Shangri La. I’m sure in its heydays in the 1980s and 1990s, this was considered a top notch hotel, but now, in 2026, the rooms are tired, worn out and the air is stale and musty. I kept coughing and sneezing non stop!
The bed was old and you could tell has lost its firmness.
The club lounge was overcrowded during the peak hours. I think the hotel over-commits on the executive club benefits. Too many people! It felt like a market place at times.
Now the housekeeping. It was highly inconsistent. I complained when on one night, the staff simply forgot to do the room cleaning and turndown which I had requested. The housekeeping staff also do not routinely check the level of the bathroom amenities. So you’ll have to ask them to refill them. Carpet was poorly vacuumed. Still had many bits of things on the floor.
All in all, a very poor example of a Shangri La.
I seldom leave online comments or reviews, but the experience we had at the Futian Shangri-La was so exceptional that I felt compelled to share it.
Our family stayed from December 31st to January 3rd, booking two rooms to celebrate the New Year. It turned out to be a truly wonderful holiday, largely thanks to the world-class hospitality and the outstanding care provided by the Service Manager, Mr. Green Guo.
Mr. Green went above and beyond to ensure our family’s comfort throughout our entire stay. He was incredibly professional, sincere, and attentive, providing a level of personal service that truly reflects the Shangri-La brand. He even took the time to personally check in on us during our dinner to ensure we were having a perfect evening.
The hotel itself is fantastic. Our rooms were very spacious and well-appointed, providing the perfect space for our family. We especially loved the New Year’s Eve countdown at the hotel—it was a spectacular and joyful way to welcome 2026!
Another major highlight was our dinner at Café Zen. The buffet is amazing and features a unique live aquarium, which creates a beautiful atmosphere. The seafood selection is top-tier; the lobster, shrimp, and other fresh items cooked live at the stations were delicious and absolutely worth it.
Thanks to the 'service-first' attitude of Mr. Green Guo and his team, our family felt truly valued and pampered. We highly recommend this hotel for its excellent facilities and its world-class management. We look forward to returning
Dated luxury and a subpar stay. We booked an executive suite for our family of 4, which was suppose to have either a foldout bed or a rollaway for our 2 kids. We checked in and were given an executive suite with no foldout bed and no availability for a rollaway. The hotel actually thought it was acceptable for our kids to sleep on the floor, which is shocking for a hotel that bills itself as 5 star. The room felt very dated. Frankly, there was no aspect of our stay we actually enjoyed. The Horizon Club breakfast was pretty lackluster with bad coffee and extremely apathetic service. Comparing this hotel to the Tokyo Shangri-La is a total joke - this hotel feels like a Holiday Inn by comparison. The brand should be ashamed of this property.
Dated room decor with mirrors and corners everywhere! Breakfast spread was wonderful and service prompt. Location is very accessible by walking to F&B and malls. It was a generally comfortable stay.
We were very happy with our stay at Shangri-La Futian. The staff went above and beyond to make our trip smooth and enjoyable.
• We wanted to book dim sum at Fan Lou but didn’t have a China phone line and weren’t sure how to proceed. Felix from the team kindly helped us with the booking and even followed up to ensure everything was confirmed.
• When we booked a Didi ride through WeChat, we realized we couldn’t pay directly. Felix stepped in again, helped us pay for the ride, and allowed us to transfer the amount back to him via Alipay. Truly thoughtful service!
• Later, we tried to order Bawang Chaji drinks through Mei Tuan but ran into the issue of needing a local phone number. Kitty at the front desk provided one for us, and once the order arrived, the hotel staff delivered the drinks straight to our room.
The level of care and support we received was top-notch. From helping us navigate local apps to ensuring our comfort, the staff made us feel completely at ease.
We are very happy with our stay and look forward to visiting again. Shenzhen has been amazing, and Shangri-La Futian played a big part in making it memorable.
Travelled in Shenzhen in November, 2025. Picked this hotel to enjoy the vibe in downtown Shenzhen. The location of Futian Shangri-la is excellent. It is nearby the Futian station for both subway and high speed rail. It is also next to the Link Central City shopping mall where there are a lot of restaurants and shops inside. About 10 minutes walk, you will get to the Coco Park (i.e. shopping Mall). Check-in and check-out process was very smooth. Got upgraded to a room at the Horizon Club level (not sure whether it is because I am a Jade member of Shangri-La Circle). Staff service is excellent. Edward Zhang the Front Desk Manager was very helpful when I asked some check-out questions. In addition, Elaine Liu provided great service when preparing the room for us prior to check-in. Also, Laura Lu was attentive during our stay. The dim sum at Shang Garden was delicious. Afternoon tea at the lobby lounge was excellent. The waitresses provided great service. Our room was on the 38th floor (Horizon Club level). It is clean, quiet and comfortable. Unfortunately, I did not check out the swimming pool and the gym. Based on the price I booked for the room, it was of excellent value. I really enjoyed my stay in the hotel and I highly recommend it to others. I will definitely stay again if I visit Futian in the future.
Great location, great staff. Really good to have a Horizon Club Room, very relaxing with very good food and beautiful little pastries. Good lighting, water pressure, temperature controls and comfortable bed. Cleaning was excellent too.

Went to celebrate Halloween in Shenzhen this year and stayed at my most favorite hotel in Shenzhen. Full hospitality even before arrival as they contact me through Wechat and asked my preferences and needs. Champagne glasses and a full bucket of ice are already there when I opened the room door, just as I requested.
Amazing hotel. Everyone is very helpful. Good part is breakfast includes halal food. Clean and big room. They have a nice terrace. Executive lounge at 37th floor is also big snd beautiful
First time staying at Futian Shangri-La, Shenzhen and received extremely good experience. Before I left home, I wanted to ask information about one of the attractions. I wasn't able to find Concierge tab from my reservation email. I exited but properly accidently sent a blank email replied to Reservation team. The Reservation Team responded to my blank email to confirm my reservation and initially asked if I needed further assistance. That gave me the first good impression about the hotel attentively customer service before I arrived. The reservation team then connected me to a Concierge Team and a Concierge member started responded to my inquires before arrival and during my stay in Shenzhen. I had the best hotel experience with Shangri-La and highly recommend it!
I stayed here one night and it was lovely. Rooms were clean and the staff was at the shangri-la level.
i will say that the staff wasnt fully fluent in english, which is what that is in a foreign country.

Buffet at Cafe Zen had great variety, plenty of seafood & wine was flowing !!!
We have visited Cafe Zen buffet a couple of times, each time is slightly different but well presented throughout. All staff were attentative in particular Mia Mo would ensured we were looked after for our birthday celebrations!!! 🥰
The buffet restaurant is well worth visiting even if you are not staying at the hotel !!

The hotel is right next to the high speed train station (exit 10) and is in the commercial centre of Futian, surrounded by countless of shops and restaurants. The food is also of top quality and the breakfast buffet spread is very generous. The room is of a good size with full amenities. The smart TV also offers a very wide range of free movies. The bed is very comfortable and good for sleep.
some rooms still smelled of smoke. But we were able to change rooms and everything was great.
Hotel room was very clean but the condition of room is dated. There is no USB ports near bedside tables for phone charging so it is very inconvenient. The staffs were nice and helpful. Breakfast choices are good but quality is like 4 stars hotel.
Excellent stay as usual, near malls with a wide variety of food choices. Near a few train lines as well. Special mention to Jack who assisted to guide and wheel some of our luggage to the train line 11 that goes directly to the airport.
Staff (Jennie and Eva) were super helpful in accommodating our request for a later checkout to minimise our wait time to transport pick up time. Also arranged express delivery to our Guangzhou accommodation an item we’d left behind in our safe. Accommodation was also the best place to be to wait out the typhoon
