Swimming pool was closed (not informed beforehand). Half the equipment in the gym did not work (3 treadmills all out of order). The Chinese restaurant on site was closed every day during our stay (Thurs-Sat). The all-day coffee shop was barely staffed. The bar was never open. The air conditioning did not work. This hotel promises a lot but delivered a very poor experience.
Good
room is spacious, bed and beddings were the best! so comfy. clean.
breakfast is good, has a variety of international and local fare
bought strawberries at the lobby, cheap, and they were the sweetest
I love the nature and beautiful architecture
and there is a mini farm too - so nice
The suite rooms were spacious and worth the upgrade cost. The staff were helpful and accommodating especially at the front desk and Chinese restaurant. The welcome drink was a nice touch. The hotel is not centrally located so not much nearby. Room temperature was very warm and the temperature control did not seem to be working. Breakfast buffet offered a wide choice of western and asian dishes and the quality was good. Only complaint was the breakfast staff was limited so getting coffee refills was very slow.
We stopped over for one night at this hotel. Initially the sprawling grounds gave the impression of luxury and exclusivity. We were happy with the layout and amenities of our room. However the good impression ended there.
We wanted to have a quick swim after our heavy activities during the day. The swimming pool required all ladies to wear a swimming cap and it costs a total of 60 RMB (USD 10) for my family. Because we booked the room through our travel agent so we were not required to pay a deposit during check-in. As a consequence, we were not able to charge the bill to our room for all services, even meals. After a quick chat with the front desk, I had no choice but to travel all the way back to my room (quite a journey considering the large grounds of the estate) to get the cash. I am shocked by the inflexibility of the hotel staff and their ability to exercise discretion for their guests. I was made to feel that the hotel does not trust their guests with a small amount of money and is afraid that we will run away without paying. This was made very clear by the front desk staff as he mentioned that the travel agency has yet to pay the rates. This is a typical business to business credit and transcation but I was made to feel that I was owing them money.
Even the pool service staff seems to be suspicious of the guests. Considering that this is a 5* hotel, it left a very bad taste in the mouth. We were deeply disappointed with the experience. It is quite obvious that the hotel does not place the guests' experience in the highest priority and at the centre of what they do.
While the hardware and infrastructure is 5*, the competency and the service standard of the staff leaves a lot to be desired. There are certainly big gaps in their standard processes.
Lovely setting, great room decor, comfortable bed, almost new furnishings. Welcoming and friendly services. Enjoyed the buffet breakfast. One of the best in all the travels we have done in China. Would definitely return when we visit Ordos again.
The hotel is situated on a huge property with a big garden surrounding the buildings. It is an impressive view when approaching the hotel. In addition, the lobby area is also big, nicely decorated and inviting. The employees are service-minded and cheerful. When I entered my room it felt like being in a small apartment which is nice as it feels a bit more like home. The room is clean, well equipped, warm and with the usual comfortable bed the IHG is known for. In addition, free Wi-Fi, a gym and swimming pool (that was closed for renovation during my stay, unfortunately). In their restaurant you can find food that will make you satisfied for sure. No problem to recommend this hotel.
This is the best hotel in ordos - you should only stay here even though it is very average.
Staff - great young man manager Tyler was his name. Everyone else useless - actually inept.
Food - average. Come here with low expectations and you'll be fine.
Very nice grounds and good for a walk.
This place has a pool but you need a swimming hat. Don't forget that.
Gym has dumbells to 50lbs and a barbell with weights to 200kg so you can do a few presses and flyes.
The nice thing is the layout and you don't need to get in a lift for your room - all ground level.
Excellent hotel, very clean, good food.
We like the BBQ as well.
comfortable room.
Extremely helpful, friendly staff.
I'm currently at the Crowne Plaza Ordos and can say that it's a great 5 star hotel. The hotel is very clean, the staff is very friendly, and the food is amazing. You must try the famous BBQ lamb. I will stay here again when I come back to Ordos. The city is very nice.
We were in town - for the first time - for our son's wedding. While not many of the staff had very good English-speaking skills, all were attentive and helpful, especially Mgr Maggie Zhang (whose English is fine). The hotel and the rooms were clean, comfortable and up to date, and, except for a plugged shower drain which was fixed within 30 minutes of being reported, perfectly functional. The all-you-could-eat breakfast buffet was fantastic, with broad choices between Western and Chinese dishes. A BBQ facility on the hotel grounds lent a slightly surreal Texas-in-Inner-Mongolia spin to the visit. The hotel was not crowded, so we undoubtedly reaped the benefits of getting all of the attention we needed, but I would recommend the Crowne Plaza Ordos without reservations (well, you should make reservations, but you get my drift).
Big room and good hotel service. but when we arrived at night, no restaurant and no supermarket is near around hotel.
I guess not many people living in this city?? The hotel is dim and quiet.. Its quite scary btw.. The facilities are all closed, dont know if it is permanently... It"s a place to sleep, only sleep. The breakfast is normal, nothing special. It"s clean in the room also.
Good hotel but little guest
Nice big hotel but dead town
I stayed in quite few CPs around the world but this one was very disappointing.
First the good one: It was clean !
However the rooms need some renovation.
They are advertising balcony but what is it worth if you can't open the windows. Also the AC is quite noisy. Breakfast very basic. Smokers around in the lobby. Finally they didn't allow me to take an orange juice from the coffee bar to my room.
Lack of English speaking stuff caused delays during check-inn/out.
Hope there are better options in Ordos
