Conveniently located for appointments at the Mayo Clinic
This was an erroneous reservation. I called booking and they sent a request for correction. The hotel never responded to that request. I talked to the hotel manager who said they would correct it. They did not do that. I sent multiple emails to management and made a number of phone calls to follow up. They never responded to any of these. I strongly recommend finding a different Hotel.
I don’t like adjoining rooms. They give me the creeps. At least ask me if I’m ok with an adjoining room. I was too tired from staying with my sick family member at the hospital to go back to ask for a change. My family member was next door at Mayo , so I appreciated being so close. But expect to pay out the nose. I had to troop back out in the dark and cold to put a parking sticker on my vehicle. Parking cost $14/night. The bottles of water that I thought were gratuitously provided turned out to have $6 price tags attached. My room was clean but showing age. I could hear every door open and close in the hall. I’m at the Hyatt about 5 mins north tonight. So much better. If I had only known. I wanted to write this review as a service to others in a similar situation.
I liked the location right next to Mayo Clinic. I liked the king suite as it was large and well designed. The property is beautiful. The hotel has a shuttle over to Mayo Clinic and that was helpful. Most of the front desk staff were wonderful.
The front desk staff tried to tell me that my reservation ended a day early despite my showing them my booking reservation. I spent over an hour with them and with the customer service for booking.com and the manager didn't resolve it until 2 days later. They made rude comments about booking.com. I have used this service for over 15 years and have never had a problem until I got to this hotel. The heat stopped working in my room and the front desk staff insisted that it was working well. I spent a cold night in the room until maintenance showed up the next morning and confirmed that the heat was not working. They switched my room. This was 4 days after a neck fusion surgery and it took me hours to pack all of my belongings one item at a time. They never offered me any kind of a discount for this. I spent over $3,000 at this hotel and their lack of consideration is really concerning.
Residence Inn Phoenix Desert View at Mayo Clinic
VETERANS BEWARE – Policy is Shameful
We arrived at this hotel expecting the same respectful treatment we’ve received in the past. On previous visits, the Military discount made our medical trips to Mayo Clinic manageable. This time, however, we were blindsided.
At check-in, we were told the discount only applies to active duty military. Overnight, our quoted rate jumped from $160 to an outrageous $380 per night. My husband, a Vietnam veteran who served proudly in the Air Force and now requires care at Mayo because of that service, was told he no longer “counts” as military.
This is not only misleading—Marriott’s own website makes no mention of “active duty only”—but deeply disrespectful. Veterans have been honored with this discount before, and suddenly they are dismissed.
The insult didn’t stop with us. As we left for the Hyatt (which welcomed us with compassion and fairness), we met an elderly woman in her late 80s, walking with a walker, who had served 38 years in the Air Force. She too was denied the discount. Her heartbreak was palpable.
To deny veterans recognition, especially those seeking medical care tied to their service, is disgraceful. This Marriott should be ashamed of this policy and the way it is enforced.
Proximity to Mayo, shuttle servicd
Staff not customer friendly when we checked in
Cost seemed pretty high
Breakfast was uninspired
We didn’t have the breakfast
Location to Mayo Hospital
Not much breakfast selection. No fruit , potato, or waffles.
no waiting and proper checout
Room was dirty. No lotion or anything stocked on counters, shower was dirty and had hair in it. The cabinets and couch had filthy splatters. The bed was comfortable but we couldn’t believe the condition of a room so close to Mayo Clinic. People start there during treatments and in would expect cleanliness.
Close to the hospital
I would like to rave about Lisa, the perfect waitress and hostess. Every restaurant and hotel should have a "Lisa". I stayed four nights at the hotel, eating most of my meals there and often relaxing in the dining area. Whenever I glanced up from my book, I would see Lisa serving food, creating amazing drinks at the bar, assisting with food preparation or doing a thorough cleanup job from one end of the room to the other. On top of all that, whenever the madness settled, Lisa would take time to chat with guests, even sitting with them for a few minutes, showing interest and displaying her marvelous sense of humor and making them feel very special. Lisa is a true professional in all ways, welcoming, and a pleasure to be around. I truly hope the Residence Inn holds on to her as long as she wants to stay. Rich
Easy check in process and great price for the size of the room.
Outstanding in every way!
