Superb!!!
Pros:

Our overnight stay including dinner was a gift from our son for our 25th wedding anniversary - and wow it’s been fab! Upgraded huge room, food in the restaurant was superb (seriously how did they do those carrots!) service attentive but not intrusive. Back to the room though - so clean, lovely wee touches like cold water in the fridge and the lit up mirror. Ridiculously comfy bed and crisp sheets. Everything you want from a hotel room. Thank you Malmaison, definitely a cut above!

Double charging.
Pros:

We went as a group of friends for afternoon tea. Upon payment, the majority of us were asked to pay again as the card machine had reset itself. We questioned this as many of us could see the notification had come up on our phones from the bank stating that payment had been taken. We were told that this would remain pending and we would only be charged the once. However this was not the case. A member of our party contacted Malmaison and explained the situation. This had to be chased and replies were very slow. 2 weeks in and we are still chasing the refund. We have now been told it will take another 10/15 days to go back into our accounts. Totally ridiculous and unacceptable. Has put me off returning.

A wonderful hotel with exceptional staff. We will 100% be back again. Thank you.
Pros:

I cannot praise this wonderful hotel and it's staff enough! I stayed in December for a company christmas dance. On arrival, I'd somehow overlooked something and not booked the room. The staff were brilliant though, totally empathetic and understanding (front desk and management). They sorted a room quickly and without fuss despite being so busy. It was their excellent, customer friendly attitude that shone through here. Even at breakfast in the morning the waiting staff were patient and so keen to help. I travel often with work and this was truly one of the best stays I have ever had.
Well done on such outstanding service, Malmaison Aberdeen.

Rude DGM - Nightmare Enquiry
Pros:

We stayed at the Mal Aberdeen back in October 2025 and I previously gave a 5* review as it's sadly 1 of the last Malmaisons in Scotland that (at the time) actually still had superlative qualities.
We decided to book again this month for a visit to Aberdeen.
In my last review I mentioned how I contacted the hotel directly at the time to enquire if they could beat the price of a 3rd party website, however at the time the receptionist wasn't interested and instead directed me to the 3rd party site. This was addressed at the time by the reception manager Amanda.
So fast forward 5 months and you would think they'd have learned that a customer calling directly to book directly and not through a 3rd party website would be more beneficial to the business.... wrong.
I called in the morning and spoke to a receptionist who said she didn't know how to offer a better price and to call back later.
Instead I just booked through said 3rd party website.
I then received a call from another receptionist some 5 hours later who was quite rude and condescending.
Claudia was her name. She repeated herself over and over saying ''We cannot offer you any discount''.
I politely explained to her that I wasn't seeking any discount, I was only making an enquiry, however as I have now booked through a 3rd party website, it didn't matter at this time.
Her tone and demeanour was quite off putting, therefore I asked if Amanda was available, whom was helpful previously. Amanda wasn't available and it appeared there was no one in charge available either.
I contacted Central Reservations and spoke to a lovely lady called Hazel. Hazel explained that the hotel should have put me through to them the first time I called in the morning.
While on to phone to Hazel, my phone was then having another incoming call from the hotel, so I took the call.
The ''lady'' introduced herself as Rebecca, the Deputy General Manager.
She asked me if she could help, I explained that I had a booking and was previously making an enquiry if the hotel would have done a better deal than a 3rd party website.
I explained to Rebecca that I was just on the phone to Hazel at Central Reservations and that Hazel had explained my enquiry to me.
Rebecca then snapped. She replied ''Well I am above Hazel, she is just a supervisor at central, I over ride her as DGM''.
Totally taken aback by this I didn't know what to say.
Rebecca really liked to shout and talk quite fast, I found this behaviour is some form of one asserting herself to give the view that she was of importance and authority, given inappropriate and demeaning comments she made about Hazel, (We're in 2026, no one is above or below anyone regardless if your a DGM!)
I told Rebecca that was fine and we'd be checking in later. She offered me two free cocktails.
However when I got off the phone, there was this feeling of supercilious and it didn't feel great, therefore I called Rebecca back and cancelled our booking.
There was no attempt to apologise or rectify, again her tone was loud and fast, dis-interested and rude.
It's very regretful that this brand which was once held in such high regards has deteriorated so much. We are very seasoned when it comes to visiting hotels and this was always a favourite however it appears that the stain which marks the company now has made it's way to Aberdeen.
What should have been a peaceful get away to remember my late father turned into a complete nightmare because of some uneducated individuals.

Really nice room and comfy stay.
Pros:

Had a really nice stay here on Sunday evening. Everything was faultless from check-in to check-out. The room was lovely, bathroom was great with plenty of towels and toiletries, we used the gym which was excellent and although we did not eat or drink in the hotel, the bar area looked very nice. The black-out curtains and comfy bed made for a good sleep, and it was nice and quiet throughout. I will definitely return!
