Great place for a coastal Kenya vacay. Loved everything about it
Family friendly and excellent people skills by staff
Lovely. Overlooks the ocean. Nice rooms
This is a lovely property. I think you need more food options on site, such as a nice coffee shop, and 2 other cuisine
The staff are the best. They provide exceptional service. Only issue is with the food. Prefer more variety and also only buffet like other resorts.
(1) We were disappointed with the airport pick-up service we booked several weeks in advance, which never materialised, especially as we had been travelling internationally for the preceeding 3 days. Thankfully a local taxi person helped us out - we hope he was paid what we were charged. (2) We recommend Serena offers an 'all inclusive' option. Half board is quite outdated, given so many Kenyan coastal hotels are now all inclusive. All inclusive means the customer pays in advance, removing the worry of what the final bill is for the customer, as well as assuring the hotel will get it's money. (3) For what customers are paying, the hotel really needs to be on top of maintenance eg eroded shower hinges; cracked tiles; mould on the verandah, etc. After all that, we had a lovely time!
Pros: Great hotel in an excellent location. The rooms were clean, spacious, and very comfortable.
Cons: There was ongoing construction during our stay, and the hotel did not maintain the beach, which made the overall experience feel overpriced for what was offered.
The live music was very loud and frequently went on until 11pm. I have to be up early to do medical camp so didn’t appreciate the late finish and the volume of the live music. I shall book a quieter room well away from the live music next time I visit
Nice place
Good 👍
Good
First visited nearly 30 years ago and have stayed several times since. It's a lovely hotel for a short stay and it has an amazing staff. The facilities are excellent, great for young families and can be lively in the evenings (ask for a room away from the music in need). The restaurants are all open attracting monkies, crows and sparrows so some surfaces are likely not very clean but generally not a nuisance. The hotel's reputation is well-deserved.
Excellent property and service!
This is a lovely place to stay along the Kenya coast. The property is an excellent condition and the staff could not have been more accommodating. They offer guest free activities, such as a catamaran and kayaks. Great pool.
Serena Beach Hotel is well located, had beautiful timeless architecture and wonderful ambience. The staff made our stay special, very attentive, pleasant and wet had lots of laughter with them. The Chef is outstanding, all the meals and snacks were well prepared, with a diverse presentation of food and drink.
The sea front needs some cleaning attention otherwise we enjoyed cooling off in the ocean, very safe and comfortable to swim, even for the little ones.
We will be back!
Beautiful surroundings and attentive staff
Really nice place, Good pool and a beautiful beach.
Lots af monkeys in the garden.
Wonderfull staff
The staff throughout the hotel are friendly. No less than in the past or what you’d expect. The restaurants remain very good. The gym is very good too, for a hotel.
But the room was old and disappointing. The shower flooded every time because the flat surface between the partition and tub allowed water to collect and then drip to the floor instead of the tub.
The doorknob on the bathroom door was partially detached.
The TV was old and angled upwards.
The leather on the office chair was frayed and tatty.
The bathroom/bedroom frosted window was loosely installed, which meant that it would rattle if other people on the corridor closed their doors.
Excellent stay and service as always. Will be back!
This hotel has beautiful gardens. It’s a very relaxing place to be in. The rooms, although charming, are tired, and in need of a makeover.
Food offerings are adequate, but unimaginative.
Wonderful team of staff, responsive and friendly.
