Everything seemed to be clean other than the carpeting needed to be either cleaned or new flooring put down. Gave me the Willie’s walking on it.

We booked a non-smoking room. When we got there was told there was no non-smoking room. So we had to take a smoking room. Which I have was not cool at all

The whole hotel smelled like cigarettes. Pool was too cold. Found mice bait behind the couches.

We reserved two nights at Best Western Lake Cumberland in the Monticello area, but checked out after the first night and will never stay here again.
We arrived late the first evening, so it was too late to try to switch hotels, otherwise we absolutely would have left immediately.
The room was extremely disappointing. There was visible dust buildup thick enough that I could wipe it with my finger, mold growing in the corners of the shower stall, water damage in the ceiling, paint peeling and flaking off the walls, and broken furniture in the room. The overall condition felt neglected and poorly maintained.
What’s frustrating is that many of the negative reviews online are from years ago (2020–2023), so we assumed conditions may have improved. Unfortunately, they have not. Here’s a current 2026 review for anyone considering staying here: save yourself the disappointment and book elsewhere!
Listing stated breakfast. Went down at 8 o’clock no coffee. The breath bar look like it hadn’t been stocked cleaned if you’re looking for breakfast this is not the hotel for you
Don’t be fooled by the pictures!!! Not up to date at all. The smell of mold as you enter the room will take your breath away! I made the mistake of removing the front of the AC unit and my god, just disgusting. Can’t believe I didn’t wake up with pneumonia. Not a picky person but I am a nurse and was very concerned about the mold, no other options when you are in the middle of nowhere. Would never stay here or recommend anyone stay here.
