The locals and food

Backpacker style resort with 4- 5 star pricing. Only 1 dining option for breakfast, lunch and dinner. No bar or poolside food options. Buffet all the way with very limited options, 5-6 dishes total, nil sides and in most cases of poor quality.
Resort transfer (an additional $540 return for 2) of 45 mins on the way out took 1.5 hours due to the boat being diverted to pick up other day trip guests from cloud 9 and malamala.

Rooms are in very poor condition. My air conditioner was leaking onto the bench, fridge not working, door handle was stuck and hard to turn, rust all over the chrome in the bathroom... Very different to the pictures..
Food was bland. Breakfast was disappointing and very limited options. Things that should be warm were cold and things that should be cold were warm. Nothing fresh. No cheese, yogurt and only long life milk. Serial option was cornflakes only.
The boat goes 2x per day from the main island so not siure why they dont have anything fresh.
My son and I had diarrhea the last night. Not sure if it was the food or water.
Overall... not much care taken at all.
Staff are nice but many of them are constantly trying to sell you more and more. You say no and same staff are asking you the same thing the following day with the same speech. It boarders on harassment. Seems to be something they're told they must do to sell more which is fine, however it comes across as fake. There's no genuine care and conversation... every conversation is geared towards you spending more and is cut short when you say no thanks.
The view from the room was beautiful. The sounds of the waves outside are lovely.

Bereits der sehr (!) teure Transfer von der Hauptinsel hat erst mit einer Wartezeit von 4 Stunden stattgefunden. Das Organisieren des Transfers war sehr aufwändig, da zahlreiche Nachrichten ignoriert wurden.
Die Zimmer sind okay, wenn auch es sehr wenig Stauraum hat.
Die Insel ist leider eine Baustelle. Es ist sehr lärmig mit zwei Baggern direkt am Strand.
Die Insel ist sehr ungepflegt. Überall hat es Abfall, alte Matratzen, PET- und Glasflaschen am Boden.
Das Essen ist, abgesehen von der Fiji-Night, sehr enttäuschend. Es wurde oft kalt serviert.
Das inklusive Frühstück ist absolut minimalistisch. Es besteht aus fix fertigen Hash Browns, langweiligen Rühreiern, praktisch ungeniessbarem Speck und Bohnen aus der Büchse. Dazu gibt es etwas Müsli und wenn man früh genug aufsteht wenig frische Früchte. Dazu würden ungeniessbare, fettige Omeletten angeboten. Kaffee ist nicht inklusive und muss einzeln bezahlt werden.
Auf der Insel hat es zwar einen kleinen Laden, welcher aber keine Getränke und nur Snacks anbietet, man muss also vom Restaurant essen.
Bei den Mahlzeiten singt oft ein Herr, welcher zwar schön Gitarre spielt, aber keine gute Stimme hat und nur stört. Zudem wird man beim Essen regelmässig gestört und auf mögliche Massagen oder teure Transfers auf andere Inseln angesprochen. Wenn es regnet, werden die Stühle nicht beiseite gestellt, das heisst, man sitzt oft auf einem nassen Stuhlkissen.
Am Strand hat es schöne Liegebetten, jedoch hört man dort immer Musik aus der Poolbar und gleichzeitig von der Hauptbar, was sehr störend ist. In regelmässigen Abständen wird durch das Mikrofon irgend eine Meldung ausgerufen.
Wir schreiben dies hier auch deswegen, weil die Meldung zu Beginn des Aufenthalts vom Hotel ignoriert und nicht behandelt wurde. Wir sind sehr enttäuscht und empfehlen, zwingend eine andere Insel zu besuchen.

The food was a bit hit and miss so there were nights where most of us didn’t enjoy our meals. The ticket system for the restaurant wasn’t always accurate so we were often having to sort out bills to ensure we were being billed correctly.

Staff were discriminatory towards Indians even though we paid for our stay .
They greeted other ethnicities with a different article and cold towards Fiji Indians .
Sad to say this , but it does affect our feelings and I wished I hadn’t booked for 3 nights .
The absence of a phone in the room for reception service is not good practice . What if there is an emergency ?
This trip was a belated birthday treat for our daughter and we requested for a hammock . We were denied it time after time until the manager stepped in . We are forever grateful to her . Reception said it is impossible - so how did it happen ?

I try to figure out but nothing comes to my mind.

We booked a suite, but they put us in a standard room. We told them, and they offered to make it up to us with alcohol or massages. We said no. In the end, we kept the standard room, and they covered our return transportation. The staff just wants to take your money and keeps offering you things to spend it on; it gets really overwhelming because they only see you as a source of income. Then, out of the five buffet meals we had in total, we found hair in three of them. The food is bad and tasteless—it’s a total tourist scam. There were also rats, and in the room they put us in, there was a motor of some kind right across from us that made so much noise I couldn’t sleep at night. If you want to be ripped off like a tourist, go there—they’re the best at making sure you have a terrible time. It’s the worst place I’ve ever been in my life.

We thought some of the staff just really did not want to be there and one of the evening bar staff was just repeatedly rude. We were also a bit disappointed by the little bits of litter all around the island, something that wouldn't take much time each day to pick up. But overall nothing that would stop us staying again.
