Bed little uncomfortable
Unfortunately, I did not stay at this property.
I arrived at the hotel on Friday 22nd as booked. The receptionist was not very friendly with me and as I started asking her questions about room alternatives and different in price, she raised her voice and stated that I did not qualify to stay on the ground floor. I explained to her that there must have been a communication breakdown between hotel and myself, as I had actually requested to booked in a ground floor room. The hotel responded to me stating that I did not qualify on the ground floor. The unfortunate part of this is, I had not seen this email hence did not ask my questions in response to this. So this is what I wanted to clarify with the lady and to pay any extras to qualify on the ground floor as I have a knee problem. The lady was so adamant with her response and so I asked her if she was saying this or treating me this way, as I am a lady of colour. She then turned around and stated that I had accused her of being racist. She then told me she did not want me at the hotel and told me to leave. I asked to speak with her manager but she said she was not giving me her manager's telephone. I then called the local police as I did not have anywhere to go and the lady told me to leave without a refund. She told me that the hotel did not owe me anything, as I did not book directly with them. Police reference number MP-20260522-1083. The police advised me that this was a civil matter and they could not do anything about it. So, I left the hotel and made alternative arrangements without a refund, considering I had paid for 3 nights in total.
Needs updating desperately
Good value average breakfast
Basic accommodation and breakfast
It was dated
Our stay in this historic building was a truly romantic experience. The ladies at the reception desk were exceptionally friendly and communicative, with a refreshing sense of humour. They provided plenty of useful information about the best places to dine, sightsee, and explore, helping us make the most of our visit to the city of the Beatles and the famous Anfield Stadium.
The rooms were clean, comfortable, and well maintained, with excellent heating and ventilation. The breakfast was delicious and surprisingly generous, offering a wonderful start to each day.
We would have loved to spend more time in the city, as four days were simply not enough to visit all of its historical attractions, especially considering that one of those days was dedicated to the stadium. Although it rained during much of our stay, we enjoyed long walks around the surrounding area. One particular highlight was the nearby Botanic Gardens, which remained open both day and night. It offered a delightful opportunity to admire a wide variety of flowers, shrubs, and trees.
The hotel is also conveniently located near a vibrant multicultural dining district. We especially enjoyed an excellent Indian restaurant just a five-minute walk from the hotel.
Overall, we had a wonderful stay and would happily return in the future.
