Everything
Nothing!
Location great
Was able to check in earlier
Good large space for the amount of people
Tea and coffee available
The bedrooms were very spacious and beds comfortable
The apartments you can tell have been used it was very worn in the bathrooms and walls. The floor was filthy feet were black. we had a sofa bed that was for 2 people but could only fit 1 person so i had to sleep on the couch and the mattress on that was about 5cm , could feel the springs. And it collapsed underneath us.
There was damp and water damage on the ceiling
Not great for value of money,
Needs an update
Large apartment, well enough for 4 adults.
Location, although not too far description was nit clear that apartment was not part if the Oddfelliws hotel.
Front bedroom noisy,as near main road.
Waited a long time for breakfast
We stayed in a two-bedroom apartment on Duke Street. It's in an ideal, lovely location, with great, roomy parking right outside. The apartment itself was spacious, which we appreciated, but it is in need of refurbishment. The carpet was dirty, the toilet seat was broken, and the taps just twizzled round, which made them awkward to use.
There were also a few basic touches missing. There was no milk for tea or coffee and no bottled water. The apartments were tricky to find as well. Although it said check-in information would explain where they were, an online map and an email confirming when payment would be taken would have been much more courteous and helpful.
Payment was taken three days before arrival, even though the booking said cancellation was allowed up to 24 hours before check-in, which didn’t feel very clear.
Breakfast was disappointing for the price. It was just one hot meal or yoghurt with granola, rather than a normal hotel breakfast with things like toast, pastries, or cereal.
Overall, it felt expensive for what it was. That said, the location was lovely and we did like the apartment’s size, so I would stay again, but only if it was on a special offer.
The staff were amazing and so was the breakfast.
Some of the wall paper needs to replacing in the rooms.
The location
Stayed in the 3 bedroom apartment as part of a last minute break to Chester with two of our children.
We stayed in the same apartment a few years ago and remember thinking at the time it needed some money spending on it. When we booked it recently we had hoped that may have happened over the course of the past few years, but unfortunately it hasn’t.
The last time we stayed in the duplex room in the main hotel, we also thought the same. Just looked tired and old.
The price we paid for the apartment was reasonable at only around £200, but I’ve seen this apartment in summer for over £500/£600. I’d be extremely disappointed paying that once I’d seen it.
The fixtures and fittings are old and worn. The toilet seat is broken. The main bathroom door doesn’t close properly. The cups and glasses in the kitchen etc don’t match. There is one nice sofa in the apartment and the other one looks like it has been bought off Facebook marketplace for about £30 and just felt dirty and cheap. The furniture in the bedrooms is cheap ikea flat pack painted to be quirky.
The fridge has the shelf missing so you can’t put any drinks in there upright, so if you have opened a bottle of wine, you can’t put it back in the fridge.
The TV in the bedroom only receives about 2 channels.
There is also a weird banging noise coming from the ceiling the entire time which woke us up, as well as the blinds that let all the light in as soon as morning arrives.
It feels more like a high end hostel than a luxury apartment. Which is a real shame, because with a few pounds spent on it, it could be stunning and right in the centre of Chester is a great location too
The positives are the apartment is spacious and comes with parking which was useful.
We have stayed at oddfellows many many times over the years, usually in the duplex room in the main hotel, but we said last time we stayed in that room we wouldn’t be back until some money had been spent on it and we are now saying the same about the apartments.
With the Grovesnor closing there’s a real opportunity for oddfellows to capture the luxury market, but they won’t be able to do that without spending some money on the hotel and I really hope they do, because we used to love it there.
Great location and very quirky hotel. Great staff and lovely comfortable beds. It was my husbands birthday and they even left a card and drinks vouchers for us which was a gorgeous personal touch.
The wallpaper in the upstairs bathroom was peeling away from the wall quite badly.
Quirky, beautiful and exceptionally well presented. We loved everything about our apartment - from the location, to the designated parking space, the glorious decor and spacious rooms - we felt comfortable and relaxed in Chester. Would we recommend? Absolutely!
Nothing at all! We loved everything!
Boutique and charming. The large tub in the room was a treat!
Some of the finishes were a bit dated and worn.
Lovely apartment, great location and perfect for 4 people.
Difficult to find, the directions given weren't clear at all, tried to call the hotel 4 or 5 times but no answer so ended up asking in a pub. We also have one shower down which wasnt a huge issue but worth mentioning. Unable to open the windows in one bedroom which made it quite uncomfortable for us. That being said, would go back and take a fan.
