Great room, easy check in. Great communication, been staying on / off for over a month here after looking after a sick relative, and iv just booked in again today, can definitely recommend. Although I can’t face breakfast in a morning my husband said they are superb and looks forward to them
I stayed at this hotel on 13th September and it was an utter disappointment.
The shower in our room did not work at all — just a pathetic drip from the pipe — making it impossible to shower. Despite reporting the problem, no one came to fix it, and we were forced to check out early.
Customer service was shocking. Staff were polite enough but completely ineffective.
Had to ring a number from a note on the wall, They promised someone would attend to the issue straight away, but after 25 minutes, nobody showed up — even though housekeeping were in the same corridor as my room.
I spoke to housekeeping on my way out and they had no knowledge of my issue and could not offer a solution.
My request for a partial refund was flatly refused because the hotel is “small” and they don't have the profit margin apparently— their profits are not my problem. The only thing they refunded was the late checkout fee as we checked out early with not being able to shower.
A functioning shower is a basic expectation for any hotel room, the lack of this facility combined with their poor customer service ruined our stay completely.
Other issues to note:
Road-facing rooms are extremely noisy.
Corridors are dirty, with marks on the carpet everywhere.
Holes in wall from previous toilet roll holder they haven't bothered to replace.
Mattress is really soft and can feel all the springs,
No non-dairy options available at breakfast. Oat milk had 'run out' apparently.
Room entry keypad is painfully loud — you hear every guest entering their room with 7 beeps every time.
No reception staff on weekends meaning you have to call a number, but then nobody assists you anyway.
This hotel is poorly maintained and poorly managed. I would not recommend it to anyone and strongly advise avoiding it until they actually improve facilities and customer service should they suddenly decide to care.
Very good breakfast and very good lady taking orders and delivering food.
Entry system tight but often failed first and second time.
How does spouse access the hotel and room, if lead person is temporarily absent?
Very clean and serviceable room. Breakfast was good and excellent overall value for money.
I was very disappointed at our ‘deluxe’ room. It was very small, our view was a wall and really nowhere to put clothes. Not deluxe in my opinion. the bathroom was lovely good quality and clean and the breakfast was brilliant.
I personally didn’t like the ‘let yourself in’ system but it worked
We stayed here overnight with a large group of friends.
Off road parking was easy to access. Our room, although a little dated and shabby, was clean, quiet and comfortable. We had no water tumblers in our room, and another couple were not provided with tea bags, and there was no-one available on reception to inform (although a telephone call did result in tea bags being left outside their room).
We had anticipated a very average breakfast, but were pleasantly surprised with the choice offered ( including warm croissant), and very generous portions of perfectly cooked hot food.
Although single handed and very busy, the waitress was very friendly and helpful, and took and served our order for 10 cooked breakfasts in a very efficient and pleasant manner.
Certainly nothing luxurious about the Dalesgate Hotel, but I would happily stay here overnight again.
Room was clean and adequate for overnight stay. However shower took approx 10 mins to get warm also shower head holder was broken and couldn't be moved up or adjusted.
Great value. Easy self check in. Great breakfast
Clean and comfortable, good breakfast. Would definitely use again.
The 'self check in' is very impersonal, no staff on site at all until breakfast time.
There was no evening meal on offer, I had to go to the local pub for food.
The check in process is extremely easily. Contacting customer service was very easy before our stay for any questions. Breakfast was really nice lots of continental choices and fresh breakfast options are taken on the morning so food is nice and fresh. Will certainly be coming back
economical
Dales gate is in a great location for public transport and had very clean and comfortable rooms, the full English in the morning was excellent
Extremely odd and impersonal as all checkin, room, checkout is through electronic door locks - quite efficient but feels like nobody cares. Did not see a soul from arriving to leaving.
Usual easy check in and excellent breakfast
Self check in via a coded entrance at the rear of the hotel was the first challenge and when we finally mastered this, we realised that the hotel was unstaffed and we were faced with climbing two sets of narrow winding stairs with our luggage (no lift - not mentioned prior).
The advertisement for the hotel clearly shows "restaurant". what it doesn't say and what you don't find out until you arrive is that it does not provide any evening meals and there is no bar. The Welcome pack in the room has a printed leaflet advising this and suggests the alternative of the Roebuck Inn which is a short walk from the hotel, which my wife visited, only to find out that this establishment has been closed for some time. With no staff available to ask about other alternatives, we had to resort to getting back in the car (after an already long driving day) to look for somewhere else to eat. This, on a warm spring Saturday evening proved impossible as everywhere was full and instead of a relaxing meal, we ended up over an hour later with fish and chips - not what we had anticipated at all.
Poorly advertised with incorrect and misleading information and although the room itself was adequate, not value for money. More information from both Hotels.com and the hotel website should explain the above fully.
Wasn’t too bad very dated
Good value for money
This hotel was very deceiving from the outside as looked a bit tired and worn . However the room was very clean and all the home comforts you would expect from a 5 star . I hate to leave anything negative as the breakfast was fantastic . ( please see this as a constructive)
The bed was the most uncomfortable sleep ever due to the quality of the mattress, which is a shame when everything else was top notch from a budget hotel . I would have had no hesitation in rated this 5 star had myself and my husband not suffered from a bad back after many attempts at trying to get a restful sleep on such a soft mattress . However, after saying that, we would most definitely have no hesitation in staying here again if the mattress was of of higher quality .
Car park round back of property. Great entrance instructions via email. A bit dated on stairs and hallways. Room was tidy, bathroom dated. Lots of coffee, milk etc in room. Breakfast was great, multiple choices. On the whole a good stay.
