The staff were good but I don’t think all the facilities were very good
A bit run down
Cleaning is excellent. Attention to detail here is first-rate. The ambience is nice. Gorgeous dining room. And the overall 'feel' is really nice.
Our room was mixed; tight bathroom, hot water takes its time. Beds on the small side by modern standards. Time for a new mattress? Gardens nearly excellent, but not sure the owners have time, but the hanging baskets are lovely. At breakfast the kids in training were not quite there in understanding how to deal with paying customers. Should they be told off in earshot of guests?
A genuine mixed bag. Things to like - and not.
character, location and historical period features
garden and out door bbq and rear landscaping needs a face lift.
the guests in the room above us where up and down all night floor and toilet flushing noise traveled through ceiling unfortunately
Breakfast was lovely, gardens amazing and ver comfy bed.
The bathroom door didn't close
Everything was perfect.
The hotel is spotlessly clean and our room was extremely comfortable.
Breakfast is Banging 10 out of 10 !!!!
Nothing not to like.
It was a beautiful setting. Well looked after. The staff were amazing… breakfast was good and the room was spacious and comfortable, I’ll definitely be back
Nothing
Very friendly owner, good cooked breakfast, well located for exploring Whitby/Scarborough/Filey etc, pleasant grounds.
Clean and tidy.
Lovely building with character. Outside tables and chairs in a beautiful garden. Nice little village which had everything we needed. Good location to use as a base for exploring the coast.
Our room had an iron spiral staircase, difficult to get cases up and down. As we were staying 5 nights the case was not small. Also had to be careful not to bang our heads on the attic ceiling.
Nice room, good breakfast
We stayed for one night as a family and overall had a very enjoyable stay. The room was comfortable, the facilities were good, and the staff were generally friendly and welcoming.
Unfortunately, our experience at check-out left us disappointed. After being told the total bill was £231.80, I handed over £240 in cash. The receptionist took the money away to a back room and returned claiming I had only given £220 and that further payment was required. As other guests were waiting behind me, I did not wish to cause a scene and paid the amount requested, although I was certain I had handed over £240.
The manager later acknowledged that the cash should not have been taken away out of sight but maintained that the amount was correct. While the sum involved was small and we otherwise enjoyed our stay, the incident left a poor final impression and unfortunately means we are unlikely to return.
I hope the hotel reviews its cash-handling procedures to prevent similar situations in the future.
Breakfast OK
Could not use shower as water changed from scalding hot to cold instantly making it unsafe to use.
Hot water tap was loose on basin.
No WiFi available
The house and village are beautiful. The owner is a lovely lady and we had a very nice breakfast.
The only small problem was the door to the bathroom was really hard to open as it is catching on the carpet
Great host great room
No beans on breakfast lol
Stacey was welcoming and accommodating when we asked for another night, upgrading our room. The full English breakfast was piping hot and ample with good quality ingredients. Our bathroom had a luxurious bath. Wrangham House is very historic with a link to Wilberforce, Wordsworth and Coleridge. Hunmanby is a pleasant village well situated for coast and Wolds.
