when i arrived at check in the guest representative EZA treated me as if i didn't belong he left me at the counter waiting for my key for a little over 20 mins where my husband had to knock on the door and ask what was taking so long and after a long trip there i was ready to rest and enjoy my stay but the guest rep EZA was awful and very unprofessional my husband should not had to find him for our keys to our room we paid entirely to much to be treated as if we didn't belong!!!
Tutto
Ritz Carlton charged for the room twice, even though they had already received pre-payment through Expedia. Despite calling, no one followed up until I submitted a review on their website.
Additionally, the thermostats in the premium room were not working
Service is exceptional!!!
Room was very spacious. The property was immaculate and the service was attentive without be over bearing.
Great
The elevators smelled terrible. The carpet in my room was gross. Charging for WIFI in addition to the room charge is wrong.
Excellent
Wish they still had a pool
We are Platinum members and have stayed at many of the Ritz properties in the US / abroad and unfortunately the St. Louis Ritz does not meet the standards I expect at a Ritz.
I would like to acknowledge some shining stars - notably - the efficient and friendly valet staff, and the wonderful staff in the club lounge - namely Xavier who provided the type of service I appreciate in the club lounge (by the 2nd day he had our morning coffee orders memorized and prepped, and was above and beyond helpful throughout our stay).
However - there were several missteps with front desk, housekeeping, the "hard" product of the club lounge and with the managerial staff.
Housekeeping: came late and on the first day requested did not come until evening, no turn down service at all during our stay. .
Front Desk: I booked last minute using points, and spoke with the front desk about the cost to upgrade to club access. I was quoted one price by the staff person I spoke with, but when I arrived - there was no note of it in my record and the 2nd staff member could neither locate who I spoke with nor figure out how to charge it. I signed a form for $150 / night/ room but when I checked out they charged me double that ($150/ night/ person). After half an hour with the manager there was not a satisfactory resolution - I was promised she would track down the form and follow up with me - to date - no follow up (I will update this review if she actually gets back to me).
The Club Room: excellent service but both physically smaller than others and the food offerings notably of lower quality and quantity than other Ritz Carltons.
I will pass on a future stay at this one.
Overall, our stay was as wonderful as expected. However, I have to state that I was disappointed in 2 things related to the room itself (1416).
While the room overall was nice, the couch near the windows showed extreme wear and tear with torn threading along the seams. Quite disappointing for a purported 5 star and expensive hotel.
As I was staying with my wife, I expected there to be 2 robes for us to lounge. However there was only 1 hung from the bathroom door hook.
These may be small details, but that is what I paid a premium price for my wife's staycation birthday present.
Examining our appetizers and drinks in the lobby, we were not disappointed and our waiter (Tanner) was top shelf.
Examining the breakfast at Don Alfonso, the quality and variety of dishes was excellent as was the service by our waiter (Glen).
This is a proxy place for the average family goers. But at least live it up once and enjoy the place and live like
The hotel was very beautiful. The noise level was high due to weddings and bands playing on the lower floors during my first night. It was hard to get to sleep until after 11:00 PM. Double charged for the room which wasn’t fun but was able to get it resolved quickly.
It's hard to complain with this St. Louis hotel. Although the exterior looks a little dreary, it is a lovingly maintained hotel with an interior that feels as though you are stepping back into an era of glitz and glamour. The rooms are large and clean and generally have pleasant views over the vast flat neighborhoods of the St Louis area (we could see the arch from our room, which was fun). The neighborhood itself is dotted with nice cafes, bars, and restaurants that are easily walkable and the attached parking garage is nice when you need to go further. Being close to Forest Park and Wash U. is convenient. Only thing that can be a little annoying is going downtown, which is a bit too far for comfort, but you'll probably only do that once to see the Arch anyway. Service was friendly and pleasant. We did not eat at the restaurant or bar inside the hotel while there.
Regular visitor to the Ritz St Louis. Big big fan of the aesthetic, amenities, room choices, and location in upscale Clayton. Highly recommend. I appreciate that the staff was able to get me into my room early on this 24-hour trip.
N/A
Will not be able to review as our reservation for this weekend (as well as that of 30 other rooms booked for a wedding) was cancelled due to some sort of contract the Ritz has with the NHL and the local hockey team making the playoffs... Really? The Ritz? Apparently we are all being rebooked elsewhere (and our rooms will be paid for by the Ritz), but this is beyond unprofessional and frankly inexcusable. Lost our business forever (and after scanning some of the recent reviews, it appears as if they did us a fovor).
Great place
