Exceeding expectations in every category
Pros:

I never (ever) write reviews, especially not for hotels, and never the same day as checkout, but the Staybridge Suites Hotel Rochester deserves recognition and sets the bar high—not just for its category, but across the board.

The suites are genuinely spacious and thoughtfully designed, with a full kitchen (full-size microwave, dishwasher and fridge) and well-stocked table settings—including real glassware in multiple sizes—more comfortable apartment than a budget hotel room.

Amenities were consistently high quality and offered generously. Breakfast included fresh berries continually replenished, coffee was excellent and available throughout the day, and every surface and station was maintained and inviting.

The hotel’s details felt intentional: real plants (succulents) on the lobby tables, beds with genuinely comfortable linens and pillows and the public spaces invited you to linger.

Above all, the staff was universally courteous, warm and genuinely helpful without ever feeling scripted.

I’ve come to expect a gap between what hotels promise and what they deliver—underwhelming buffets, token “perks,” cramped suites and spaces that feel transactional. None of that applies here. This place delivers on its promises and then some.

The staff were so friendly. I was always greeted with a hello or have a good day. The breakfast was delicious each day and very filling. The room was spacious with great amenities.

It was good until you were woken up from people screaming and noise from either outside your window or in the other room

Perfect place to stay if you are visiting University of Rochester.
Pros:

For me, the location of the Staybridge Suites Rochester University was ideal. Its position opposite the University of Rochester campus meant I had a pleasant 10 minute walk across the bridge to campus every morning. The river path that runs directly past the hotel was also perfect for my morning runs. The staff were super helpful and friendly, the breakfast was plentiful, delicious with fresh fruit as well as cooked breakfast favourites every morning. My room was clean and quiet. Free wifi worked well, and to top it all off, I was offered a free shuttle ride to the airport on the morning of my departure. Hooray!

BEST HOSPITALITY STAFF ANYWHERE! BEYOND WONDERFUL!
Pros:

We had a simply extraordinary experience at the Staybridge Suites Rochester University. The rooms and public areas are new, fresh, and very inviting. MOST IMPORTANTLY: The staff were some of the most professional, welcoming, caring, and responsive hospitality professionals I have ever had the pleasure of knowing. Joanne Giuseppetti, General Manager, is extremely responsive, pleasant, accommodating, and helpful. She is truly an asset to IHG. Knowing we can count on her to make our stays special keeps us coming back to this wonderful property. Jesus Santiago, Front Office Manager, is very understanding, patient, resourceful, and helpful. We thank Thomas Burt (Sales Coordinator) for a very friendly and warm welcome at our most recent late-night checkin. Additionally, Adam Ruckdeschel (Assistant General Manager) was deeply attentive and responsive when we spoke by phone. Equal praise is due to the young ladies who staff the front desk, who were also responsive and lovely to speak with. You will not be disappointed if you stay at this conveniently located and extremely welcoming property!

A really great well-equipped place to stay in Rochester near the airport and the university
Pros:

Great and friendly front desk staff at check-in. Suite was spacious and well laid out. All very clean. Excellent comfortable bed. Very nice setting in the city with a great view of UofR. Very quiet and restful.

Cons:

Our room keys deactivated 1.5 hours before our checkout time and caused a trip to the front desk and wasted time. We asked for and were given a 1 hr late checkout time upon arrival, but it was not properly handled and the day staff expected us to leave at regular check out time. Not cool!

Pros:

The breakfast was very satisfying, and the river view, both sunrise and sunset, was breathtaking. It would be hard to find a better place to stay when visiting the University of Rochester.
