Categories

Cleanliness
6.8
Multiple guests reported dust build-up, dusty fan, beetle on the bed and generally worn/poorly maintained rooms; some mentions of clean towels and daily housekeeping mitigates but overall cleanliness concerns reduce score.
Service
9.6
Consistently praised: very friendly and helpful staff, proactive communication before stay, restaurant recommendation and reservation, daily housekeeping and attentive reception.
Location
9.9
Repeatedly highlighted as excellent — central, great views, peaceful setting and ideal for exploring Rye; a standout strength of the property.
Room Quality
7.6
Rooms are characterful and charming but often described as a bit tired/shabby with issues such as small dusty fans, limited plugs, split layouts with non-working TVs and occasional maintenance problems.
Amenities
7.8
Some positives (bathtub, happy hour) but limited on practical amenities: weak ventilation/AC, small fans, limited parking/loading only, missing toilet brush and little bathroom storage; mixed overall.
Value for Money
8.2
Many guests called it good value and praised the price for location/character, though a few felt some rooms were overpriced given ventilation/room condition.
Food and Beverage
8
Breakfast is often praised as fresh and good, though a few guests reported poor coffee or unpleasant items (mushrooms) and minor bathroom supply issues.
Overall Experience
9.3
Overall positive stays: charming, great location and friendly staff make for a recommendable experience despite some cleanliness and room-maintenance shortcomings.

Deluxe kamer
Pros:

De ligging,heel centraal. Zacht bed

Cons:

De kamer, kleiner dan gedacht. Vaak koud, hoewel de verwarming volop stond. Schimmel in de douche, wel heel sterke en waarme waterstraal

Beautiful gem of a hotel
Pros:

Perfect room and very friendly staff. Views across to a castle in the distance. Happy hour with complimentary cheese & crackers, and 2 for 1 drinks in the bar.
Breakfast was excellent.

Cons:

The hill to get there! Not the hotel's fault, but guests were large luggage need to know that it's an arduous journey (but worth it!)

Pros:

Ein ganz besonders, uriges Hotel in einem wunderschönen Ort.
Schnell zu Fuß im Zentrum, mit Pubs & Geschäften und fußläufig zum Rye Castle.
Wir haben uns sehr wohlgefühlt.

It was a lovely site and venue for a short stay for two able-bodied adults!
Pros:

bathroom was recently upgraded. Bed was very comfortable. Tea & Coffee adequate and staff willing to replace as needed.
Confortable lounge for a rainy day.

Cons:

Decor looked a bit sad and in need of repair. Bedroom carpet needed a clean.
No help with carrying up luggage up two flights (the trip was to celebrate my recently replaced knee, and I had only just been able to manage stairs - I should have mentioned that in my booking and perhaps asked for first or ground floor room)

Convenient location if you're not fussed on the quality of the hotel
Pros:

The location is convenient to explore the old village of Rye. The staff provided some good recommendations for dinner. Breakfast was included, it wasn't good but they tried

Cons:

The room is basic and very well worn, the bed was lumpy and bedding threadbare, as were the towels in the bathroom. Breakfast was very ordinary. We paid $523 AUD for this room which was exorbitant but it was the last available in town and maybe they took advantage of that!

Disappointing breakfast. Very good selection of buffet food(fruit, cereals, ham, cheese) etc. Cooked food disappointingly tasteless. Need to upgrade quality of food items.
