Bad Experience
Pros:

DO NOT use the Book Cadillac for your event. We reserved a block of rooms for our daughter’s wedding party. We wanted thirty rooms, but the Book Cadillac event planner suggested reserving only twenty based on our guest list size; we were told we could easily add more rooms later. Shortly after, when our guest list expanded, we asked for more rooms, but we were told we couldn’t add any more, as there was another event in town that weekend. As we needed a larger block, we were forced to find another hotel. The Book Cadillac then refused to refund our deposit, saying we should have read the fine print in the contract more carefully. We contracted with them in good faith, and trusted their event planning staff to help us with the details of this complex plan, but we feel they have completely taken advantage of us. Calls to Marriott Corporate were completely unhelpful.

I enjoyed my stay. Beautiful hotel & great location.
Pros:

Close to everything and beautiful. The room had everything you need and more.

Cons:

Parking area for valet took quite some time and the sink and tub were both clogged in the room.

Pros:

The hotel gave my room away without any notification, which was paid in full $1,400. I arrived late in the evening. They made no accommodations, and booking.com just took all of my money. No one answers the customer service phone. I had to find and pay for another hotel room around midnight. The customer service was awful at the Westin, and I got no response from booking.com.

Excellent Location for Exploring Downtown Detroit
Pros:

This was our first visit to Detroit, and the location of the hotel was conveniently located across the street from where the DAX airport shuttle stops and within easy walking distance of everything we wanted to see in downtown Detroit.

We arrived around 4:30pm and found a fairly long line at check-in, but the four ladies working the front desk kept things moving efficiently and got everyone checked in quickly.

As part of the check-in process, we were given the option to forgo housekeeping in exchange for a $20 credit that could be used at the hotel's restaurants or bar, which we took advantage of

Our room was on the 21st floor but it had only a single small window with no view. The room itself was comfortable and clean, though the decor was a bit sterile and lacking in character. The shower was excellent, with plenty of hot water and good water pressure.

Overall, it was a comfortable stay and the convenience of the location made it a great base for exploring Detroit.
