Comfy friendly service (when seen the staff as no one in there when arrived)
No greeting by a member of staff just a envelope on the step with name on with key and no bar everything was closed
Location
No staff - key left outside
Toilet full of poo
No breakfast even though it was included in the price
Very dated decor
Location ok. Food good.
Water pressure terrible - our first room had drain smell issues as well - changed to another room - water pressure better re shower but still poor - no smell !!
Its location
It’s central to all locations and makes a good base
Breakfast was substantial and staff very pleasantly
Having stayed here many times over the years it seems to be a little run down.
Cobwebs in the room and standards don’t reflect the room rate.
Bar was not maintained and not all beers available
I believe the property is up for sale and just hope it continues, would be sad to see it close !
Old character coaching house. Food excellent.,staff friendly and helpful
Good breakfast. Old world style building very clean tidy. All staff very helpful and friendly
No lift for for elderly people
The location was perfect for our purposes. The staff were very friendly and welcoming. Although our room was on the front of the building we were pleased that there was little or no traffic noise. Our room was basic but comfortable and suited our one night stay.
The shower temperature and power were very good.
Car parking was plentiful and not too far from entrance.
The overall feel of the building was one of warmth and friendliness.
Small areas that needed to be cleaner, (window frames). Would have appreciated a larger bath towel.
I personally don't like imitation flowers, if they are to be used I would suggest using the best possible quality, there are some amazing ones about.
We weren't eating in but would have appreciated a menu in our room if we had been.
All the staff were very helpful and very friendly. The proprietress Anne goes out of her way to help.
Unavoidable breakdown of Wi-Fi on first day which was quickly sorted.
Breakfast
While building was very tired-looking and needed full refurbishment . Staff seemed disinterested in guests. Bathroom in room 16 is minuscule and shower not very clean.
For the money it was perfectly acceptable. It was fairly tired looking and a bit dated, but I was expecting that pre-arrival and it was all perfectly acceptable. It was great that we could use the car park for two days for our bike rides with only 1 night stay and the staff allowed us to leave our bikes in a spare locked room downstairs which was great.
My room was right next to the exit door and through the night people were moving around the hotel so I was woken up by that.
Homely and comfortable. Real room keys instead of key cards! We had a settee and two chairs in our room, which made a change from having to sit on the bed. The TV was on a proper TV table too. The staff were very friendly and the food was excellent, particularly the lamb cutlets. The decor was not flashy, grey and minimalist. Nothing too precious. Lovely long bath to stretch out in. It was close to town and the beautiful countryside offering Bamburgh, Seahouses and Lindisfarne were easily accessible.
The water pressure was a little low at times. Apart from that, I couldn’t really fault it.
Very nice room. Friendly staff. Clean
The poor staff were too busy at breakfast. I ( and another guest) had to leave at 8:30 and no one had had time to take our order despite us being in the dining room since 8am. We left without breakfast
