The location is nice. The pool is nice and having a nice beach is lovely. We ordered food that we enjoyed as well.
I didn’t like that your Marriott advantages depending on your level were not honored. I didn’t like the cost for what you get nor the cost of the food.
I didn’t see on my booking that the bed was a wall bed. That was a shock and did not care for the room at all.
N/A
Room was so small a Murphy bed folded out of the wall making it difficult to move around in the space…
Beautiful scenery.
The staff was awful. They literally victim blamed us for causing trauma thier security failed to protect us from. Homeless man assaulted us at thier side entrance verbally and put his hands on us! It was awful. They claimed they couldn’t do anything. The staff literally said “it was our own fault” for offering him money. Unbelievable. Do not go thier. They will treat you awful. The staff was unkind would not say hello back or aloha or mahalo they treated us like we were hated by them. Unbelievable. This was our honeymoon. Do NOT recommend!
Gorgeous scenery and gardens.
Such a beautiful location! Perfect access to the beach.
Nothing
Pros great location, great staff The “Vacation Home” is a misnomer The rooms for the vacation club are hotel rooms that they try and reconfigure. We traveled with my spouse and friend and had a 1 bedroom suite with a bedroom that shared a door. There is a small “living room” that has the most uncomfortable furniture of any place we stayed We locked ourself out of the living room twice as your door key only works on one side. There is a very lengthy walk to get from the lobby to your room which is fine if you like walking It is on the same properties as the Royal Sonesta which is not a Marriott property We got lost multiple times. The pool is beautiful but the hot tubs are are almost always filled with people who pretty much camp out. We were all very disappointed
The grounds are immaculately well kept. However, my room had not been remodeled in 40 years or more. It was not obvious from the Marriott app that I was booking a room with a wall bed…terrible value for the money!
Marriott MVC member.
Reserved an oceanfront one bedroom villa and got that. Staff’s friendliness is a hit and miss.
You have your own private cul-de-sac which is an advantage if you have kids. But be cautious of the big waves. Its proximity to Duke’s is nice and the fronds are beautiful! Not sure if this is the best location because it felt like it’s always gloomy, cloudy in this area or perhaps it’s just because it’s August when we were there.
Beautiful location
Upon arrival, I had a very unpleasant check-in experience. The manager, Liza Nakano, was rude and unwelcoming. When I requested reasonable accommodations, she responded by saying that my stay was “too long” and proceeded to lecture me about how difficult it was for her to run the business and what she could not do, rather than offering solutions.
The check-in process took over an hour, leaving me exhausted. I was finally able to access my room close to midnight.
Maintenance throughout the stay was poor. We had to request basic refills, and on one occasion we returned to find our pillows left on the floor. After rainfall, water consistently pooled on the balcony and stayed there as drainage didn't work. Also, drainage along the walkways did not function properly, creating inconvenience and safety concerns.
The only positive aspect of our stay was the location. The beach is beautiful and enjoyable. However, we would only consider returning if there were significant improvements in management, maintenance, and overall guest service.
Worst experience I’ve had at a Marriott. This Marriott is a time share. They won’t upgrade your room , even if they have availability. It doesn’t have a pool, bars or restaurants. They do share the pool with the Royal Sonseta . Best to stay there as their rooms are $$$ cheaper a night! You’ll be disappointed in the Marriott.
Loves the view
Pulling the bed out of the wall….for the price of the room I thought the bed would have on the floor lol that was a big surprise.
The good:
If you didn’t have a car to get around Kauai, the fact they have a shuttle to/from the resort is a plus. Around the resort, the beach is decent and there are many stores to walk to whether to shop or dine. So location wise, it’s not terrible.
The bad:
1. We got an oceanfront king room. Oceanfront from the 4th floor means looking over a roof without any view. So get a higher floor if you can.
2. The parking to the check in to your room is FAR. Honestly, too far for those with walking issues. This was such an oddly constructed complex.
3. The room was tiny and so is the bathroom. We had a door to an adjoining room and though closed and locked. We could hear the neighbors. The soundproofing isn’t great.
4. We were locked out of the room on our final day. Since I mentioned that the parking lot is far from your room, we loaded our bags first in the car early on the final day and decided to check out by their time 10 am. We figured we can use the room as a base while we walked the beach and had a light breakfast across the stores. When we got back to our room 9:30 am, none of our keys worked. We complained to the front desk and we were told an incredible lie of ‘you must have double locked the room going OUT of the room’ ‘… but if you need to gain access back, we can reset it for you’.
I’ve been most if not all the Marriott properties in Kauai over the years, this is one that I would never come back to.
Clean clean clean in and out
Free WiFi is very poor.
If you’re going to LIHUE Kauai, DO NOT stay at the Marriot. Very unfriendly staff. The only people that were nice were the valet staff and landscapers.
Location, beachfront view of Ocean, clean, comfortable
We had an amazing stay. The room was clean the restaurants were yummy, and it was nice to be able to walk right to the nesch. We even rented paddle boards at a rental sho next door to the hotel. It is a great location! The staff was very friendly and helpful. We really enjoyed it. Can’t wait to go back.
I have traveled often in my many years in life.. at time the treasures of a vacation great views.. clean accommodations and all amenities can be shadowed by the terrible customer service.. Marriot Kaua’i Vacations made this a reality
Few yellow/brown spots on the one of the pillows. Overall clean!
