I mentioned when booking that we were travelling with a dog, and no restrictions were mentioned. At check-in, I paid the pet fee and got our room without any questions.
A few minutes later, our dog barked at housekeeping staff in the hallway, and suddenly we were told that dogs over 50 lbs (our dog is 120 lbs) weren't allowed and that our dog wasn't supposed to bark. We were offered a refund and asked to leave, but eventually they let us stay on the condition that she wouldn't bark again.
If you advertise your hotel as pet-friendly, you can't expect the impossible from animals. Dogs bark sometimes, especially in unfamiliar surroundings, and expecting complete silence is simply unrealistic.
The whole situation was incredibly stressful.

At checkout, the receptionist seemed a little surprised when she mentioned that nobody had complained about our dog.
Were they expecting complaints just because we had a dog? If that's the attitude towards guests with pets, it's hard to understand what makes this hotel pet-friendly.
It's a shame because the room itself was excellent. Clear rules and a little more understanding would have made all the difference.

The first room I got, was clear to me that my bedsheets weren’t washed. There was pubic hair on the sheets and a very musky smell. I called the concierge and told her, she came up and swapped me a room right away. She said, sometimes the housekeepers don’t check the bedsheets, I said that’s not a good excuse. I asked, “You guys don’t change your bedsheets after your guests checkout?” She repeated herself and said that housekeeping sometimes doesn't check. I said that’s really disgusting. She said, I know and I’m really sorry. You guys need to change your sheets after each guest leaves. She put me in another room in the bedsheet seemed okay, but still musky and got itchy when I got in bed. There was a visible handprint. On the nightstand. That I personally had to grab some disinfectant to wipe things down. The desk was sticky. I don’t even think they know what disinfecting is, if I’m being honest. If this place doesn’t know how to clean then they shouldn’t be in business. I don’t care how cheap the hotel is. There is no excuse to be dirty.

Check in was a long process.

That I had to keep getting my keys for the door reactivated
