Location was close to my meeting
Staff rude, room with heat on highest level was still.cold n heat kept cutting off. Fans in hallway very loud the smell was like mild n the pure life water was %3.50 for one bottle. Thank God I proud my own case of pure life water which cost my $4 @ sams. Coffee creamer in room was bad tried to get milk from staff they tried to charge me $5 for a tiny cup of milk. Just not a quality hotel as it appears on line. Oh yeah never put single woman in rooms with connecting doors didnt request an attaching room should never of been put in one with strangers on other side. Between the cold, fan noise n unsafe feeling I got no sleep n checked out early am!
We went to a show at The National and the location was perfect!
The staff is always above polite and professional. The room was clean. I had sons that went to college in Richmond and I used to stay in this hotel on a regular basis years ago.
The door was very hard to open and close (damaged). The room smelled a little musty. The bathroom sink would not drain. The worst thing was that every time the heat came on there was a initially a loud clanking noise. I was unable to get much sleep.
The hotel was close to to the Library of Virginia.
The hotel had some interesting photos of Miller and Rhodes of Richmond.
All went well even if we had a "fire drill" at breakfast time. My eggs did get cold! lol
I had a very disappointing experience at Hilton Richmond Downtown. The room was far below expectations for a hotel of this brand. There were no basic toiletries provided — the shower gel, shampoo, and other bathroom amenities were either missing or completely empty. Even worse, the bathroom flush wasn’t working properly.
The air conditioning system in the room was also a major issue. It didn’t work at all, and we had to spend the entire night in an uncomfortably hot room with no way to adjust the temperature.
To add to the frustration, our room key didn’t work properly. We had to keep going back and forth just to get into our room.
Overall, this was one of the worst hotel stays I’ve experienced. I expected much better from Hilton and hope these issues are addressed for future guests.
We stayed at the Downtown Richmond Hilton on December 30th for one night in a fairly expensive room, expecting a comfortable and professional stay. What we experienced instead was one of the worst hotel stays we’ve ever had.
The morning after our stay, my wife woke up covered in bites on her arms, legs, back, and chest. At the time, we were genuinely unsure what they were—we have never experienced bed bug bites before and never imagined that would be the cause. After returning home and seeking medical care, a doctor confirmed they were bed bug bites.
When we later reported this to the hotel, the response from staff was appalling. Rather than concern or accountability, we were met with indifference and the question: “Can you prove it?” There was no empathy, no attempt to investigate, and no sense that guest safety mattered. The attitude was dismissive and uncaring from start to finish.
As if that weren’t enough, at 1:00 AM, the fire alarm went off, forcing all guests to evacuate into the cold night while the fire department cleared the building. By the time we were allowed back inside, I was so cold and exhausted that I slept fully clothed—which, ironically, likely spared me from the same bites my wife suffered.
The next morning’s breakfast was another disappointment. The restaurant was out of multiple menu items, the potatoes were cold, and the eggs were slimy. Completely unacceptable, especially after such a stressful night.
Between the confirmed bed bugs, the middle-of-the-night evacuation, the indifferent and accusatory customer service, and the poor food quality, this stay was a complete failure. This was not a budget motel—it was a Hilton charging premium rates, and it did not come close to meeting basic expectations.
We will absolutely be sharing our experience, and I strongly caution others to think carefully before booking here.
Unsanitary. Disorganized. Zero accountability. Never again
Location of it
Not worth the value I paid, room had some stains, room just didn’t look / feel clean as it should especially for the price that is paid. Parking is $41 on top of what you paid for the hotel, $6 for two small things of milk from the in house restaurant for my son.
Excellent room. Mickey outstanding at front desk. Zione very good parking attendant Have stayed here many times pool very nice
Super Mario, valet parking manager, is wonderful! He is conscientious, pleasant, and very capable. We appreciated his help, and he is a true asset to this hotel.
My adult handicapped son loves to attend GalexyCom in the spring. This is a very nice Hilton Hotel. Clean, well maintained and across the street from the Convention Center, so he can easily walk from the convention center to the hotel.
The hotel is well staffed and I especially enjoy the indoor pool.
Clean and comfortable

Very pretty and clean. The lady in the front desk was very nice just like the staff in the restaurant. By the way, the food was great!
Central Location, had a very large Room
Hearings System Hard to change
Clean and convenient
Absolutely the worst hotel experience we’ve had in years. The rooms are run down and the management is not organized.
To start, we specifically booked two rooms on the executive floor so we could be away from the street noise and also have our mother-in-law on the same floor as our room in order for her to babysit our toddler/the baby monitor to reach her room. We called two days prior to arriving to confirm that we would be in rooms close to each other even though we knew we’d be on the same floor. The concierge confirmed that our rooms would be close together, but not adjoining which was fine.
When we arrived two days later and checked in at 5 PM, the concierge told us that due to renovations, our room had been moved to the second floor while my mother-in-law’s room was still on the executive floor. It took over 20 minutes of standing at the concierge desk, explain explaining why we needed to be on the same floor for them to be able to make a simple change for my mother-in-law to also be moved to the second floor.
Upon checking in, it was clear these rooms were dated, dirty, and had a myriad of issues like loud AC units and doors that made loud popping noises whenever you open them. We tried to make it a night, staying in our rooms, but the constant street noise, door, noise, and AC noise made it impossible for our child to sleep, which then made it impossible for us to sleep.
There are a number of other issues I could mention that made it unbearable to stay here, and so we checked out after the first night and threw away hundreds of dollars on this attempted visit to Richmond.
