Great time in Richmond. Valet was awesome at the Hilton
2nd of six hotels. Room 615 on 6th floor serviced by three lifts. One night stay. WiFi decent. Good sized but poorly lit room with two queen beds. Like an oven at 6:30pm when arrived (81F). Despite endeavouring to cool down, no success. Front desk called for engineer. When returned to room after dinner, still hot and AC was switched off. Returned to front desk and was told AC was broken. Moved to a suite on 6th floor (Room 605) which was much better. Again two beds, bigger room and bathroom. However, Lightweight curtains ripped. Complimentary breakfast also given as an apology. Complaint handled very effectively. AC worked but not very effective as temperature did not drop below 75F all night despite setting it cooler. Breakfast itself was disappointing re quality and choice. Can not recommend based on our experience.
It was so clean and smelled amazing!! The staff was so friendly and helpful, the hotel was super close to the venue I needed to go to!!
Quick check in. Clean room. Breakfast was too expensive and average quality.
Everyone I worked with was very kind! Jason greeted me with a smile at the valet stand bright and early each morning of my stay.
Good location, restaurants on site, clean rooms, comfy beds. Vallet on the more expensive side, but service was awesome, timely, and friendly. I worked with Mario for valet and it was a seamless process.
We had a nice time. The restaurant was good and the bartenders were amazingly helpful. But it was Super Mario who set the tone for our wonderful weekend. He was the first person we talked to and his energy was everything. Thank you Mario for your heartfelt greetings everyday. We will be back again.
This is a great Hilton hotel with three nice restaurants. A young lady named Lily was the best server during our breakfast times at this hotel. The rooms are clean and the atmosphere is terrific. i highly recommend this place!
Stayed at the Hilton for a conference and was very pleased with the service. Staff always greeted me in the lobby and was very helpful when needing service and help. Carlos was super sweet with valet parking, promptly bringing the car and also offering food suggestions in the area as I was visiting Richmond for the first time! Great employee and great hospitality here!
Atmosphere is incredibly stuck up for a hotel that has stained floors and mediocre cleanliness rooms and overall facilities. In addition to the overpriced cost of the room you have to pay $56/night for valet parking or risk parking in a dodgy public parking area across the road. Also breakfast is $21/person, including toddlers who can’t come close to eating that much foods worth. Overall money-grab based on old nostalgia. Do not recommend.
Super Mario made the trip so convenient!! Thank you for being so kind and taking such good care of us!!
Mario and his Team did a Great Job!
Valet was awesome and kind. Super Mario was the best as well as Jason and Wyatt. Couldn’t ask for better people.
Restaurant was great
Front desk staff was great too
Room was overpriced for what it was.
Otherwise great spot
All these guys were awesome all weekend man big ups!
Stayed at the Richmond Hilton Downtown this past weekend to catch the Banana ball show — and as a bonus, the players were staying at the hotel too, which made for a really fun atmosphere.
The hotel itself is well-appointed and nicely laid out. We had a suite which was spacious and comfortable, and the staff we interacted with were genuinely friendly and welcoming.
My one meaningful frustration: this hotel does not offer daily housekeeping service. They still seem to be citing COVID-era policies as justification, but at this point that excuse is wearing thin. On Saturday I reached out to housekeeping directly and then followed up with the front desk asking simply to have the room cleaned — both times I was met with “are you checking out?” as if a mid-stay cleaning request was some kind of oddity. All I really wanted was fresh towels and emptied trash. Honestly, I’d have been happy to pay for it.
My advice to management: be transparent about this policy upfront — on the website and again at check-in. Guests shouldn’t have to discover it mid-stay. A hotel of this caliber can do better.
Overall a nice stay and I’d consider returning, but I’d likely opt for a property with standard daily housekeeping if I had the choice. The experience is better when you’re not thinking about it.
I don’t usually stay at Hilton‘s. They’re not as readily available to the places I go to for work. I presume the Hilton was the same as a Marriott or a Hyatt or Sheraton. I was sadly mistaken. The check-in is at 4 PM, which is the latest check-in I’ve ever seen. I got there first thing in the morning and expected not to be able to check in however, I was told the earliest I could come back was 2 PM which I found questionable. So I came back at 1 PM and the people at reception said I could check in and we’re much kinder than the morning front desk person. I wish I took pictures. the door had scuff marks, the sink tray that had a face towel and soap looked like it has never been clean. I did not turn on the lights brightly because I was afraid of what I was going to see. in general it’s needs to be redone, the room just seems a bit old. is it a decent place to stay yes, but does it uphold the standards of a Hilton, absolutely not in my opinion.
Close to venue
Front desk check in, some not to friendly
My girlfriend and I stayed at the Hilton Richmond Downtown as a Hilton Honors Diamond member for two nights (April 23–25). While the staff were generally polite and cordial, the overall stay fell well below expectations for a Hilton property at this price point.
Although I used points, the room value was approximately $450 per night with tax, and the experience did not match that level. The room itself had several issues: inconsistent hot water (including cold showers at night), a television that did not function properly, a broken safe, and a refrigerator that required repair. In addition, the room was dusty enough that housekeeping had to return for a full cleaning of surfaces. The window glass was also noticeably dirty, which detracted from the view.
There were also broader property concerns. Only one of three elevators appeared to be working during the stay, and the laundry area was poorly lit, with confusion about the location of guest amenities. Reaching the front desk by phone was difficult.
The location is central, but the surrounding area did not feel safe at night. Based on local guidance, including comments made during the stay, remaining on property after dark was advised. There were also visible concerns around entrances and nearby walkways, which further limited practical dining options—particularly given a late arrival.
This ties directly into the handling of the Hilton Diamond food and beverage credit. This was a two-night stay with two registered guests, which should equate to $60 in available credits. We checked in around 8:00 PM and checked out early at approximately 4:30 AM, leaving only one meaningful opportunity to use the benefit. My food and beverage charges exceeded the daily credit, yet only one $30 credit was applied.
I did speak with the hotel directly. Their explanation was that the credit is applied on a strict calendar-day, “use it or lose it” basis. Under that interpretation, the credit would supposedly apply to three separate days (April 23, 24, and 25), which I disagreed with, as the benefit is tied to nights stayed, not separate calendar days. I was not seeking additional credits—only that the two-night Diamond benefit be applied reasonably under the circumstances.
Overall, while the staff were courteous, the combination of room issues, maintenance concerns, location challenges, premium pricing, and the handling of core Hilton benefits made this a disappointing stay. This property needs attention.
At a $400+ per night value, this property delivers a mid-tier experience at best. Until both the physical condition and the application of core Hilton benefits are addressed, we would not return.
I was asked to an additional fee to check in a 2:30 pm. This the first time I have ever been pandered in this manner in the 40 years that I have used Hilton properties. If this is the new norm I will go somewhere else!!
