I visited Chamonix on 29th May with my daughter. We only stayed one night in this lovely hotel. We both said we would have liked a longer stay. We booked bed and breakfast. We had a room at the front of the hotel on the 4th floor with a small balcony.
Breakfast was continental but there was plenty of choice.
The hotel is situated in the heart of Chamonix. There were 2 lovely charming ladies on the front desk and a gentleman (not all at the same time). They were so welcoming. I would love to return one day but stay for longer.
It’s a cheap place to stay in Chamonix with a great location and ski bus stop next to it .
The hotel is old fashioned and yea could do with an update but for the price it’s great .
Warm rooms , hot water . The shower is only an attachment to the bath taps and with no screen or curtain makes it a bit trickier . But all in all it was good for a bed to sleep whilst out skiing for the day and out in town in the evening .
I actually bought food from the supermarket opposite to eat in the room for a quick breakfast but they do a classic continental breakfast with options of a boiled egg .
It’s old , it’s dated and the rooms maybe a bit noisy and no modern amenities or spa options . But you get what you pay for and what you get is a good 2 star hotel with friendly staff .
I would stay again
Evelyn was ready the best ever staff member I've met in my whole life. She was very welcoming hospital and was eager to give us all the information we needed really thank you so much .If I would come to Chamonix again, I would definitely stay at Hotel Richmond!
This is the 2nd time I've stayed here and love it. They are so friendly and the hotel has all the original features and a fantastic history. It's warm, very clean, good breakfast and the ski bus stops right at the back door next to the bootroom. The front of the hotel takes you right out onto the street with all the shops, bars and restaurants
This is the 2nd time weve stayed, tgey are so friendly. This property has all the original features so is charming. It's lovely and warm, very clean and a good breakfast. The bus stop is right at the back door next to their boot room
Lovely hotel full of character and frendly welcoming staff .
We stepped back into old world elegance and hospitality in the midst of bustling
Chamonix. The staff so attentive and couldn't be more kind or helpful. Our room
had incredible charm and views from every window. Breakfast was delicious and the
huge windows overlooked the amazing mountain peaks and glaciers. It was everything one could hope for and more. I felt I was given a gift of place that rarely exists anymore anywhere in the world. Thank you, Charmaine
Great family run. Accommodating staff. Could use ac and better in room temperature control such as the radiators which were off.
For me you couldn't beat the Hotel Richemond. Its old-fashioned, but clean and has all the conveniences you need for a quiet, relaxing stay. The breakfasts are excellent and the staff super friendly and helpful with lots of history to discuss. Its right in the centre of Chamonix, and the local buses stop at the door. Its the perfect place if you are fed up with glitzy, noisy, modern boring business class hotels.
Really nice place! So much charm and comfort. We loved the French country style and updated utilities. The breakfast is very good and healthy.
The staff was very friendly and accommodating. We felt like visiting a friend's home. We will return for sure and suggest this place to our friends.
Excellent experience with great staff, nice rooms and great breakfast.
Loved the staff. So nice. Great location. Quiet.
Super clean and very polite staff, close to city center.
This is a charming hotel, everyone there was very friendly and helpful. It was warm, had a decent breakfast and was central for everything especially the ski buses. The town centre bus stop was right at the door of the hotel. There was good storage for ski stuff too which you could get a lock for.
A lovely hotel with the friendliest, most helpful staff. The decor and feel of the hotel is very traditional which adds to the feel of the stay. The hotel was very warm which was great after a days skiing, the hot water was endless which was also a bonus for an end of day bath.
They had a ski store room and provided locks when left with a deposit and the location is excellent for the ski buses, right outside the door, not even a 2 minute walk!
The breakfast was good, not a huge selection but always plenty of bread and pastries to fill you up.
It is a traditional hotel with so much warmth and character. The host lady was really nice to me. The location is very central too. I would definitely stay there again.
We had a great stay. The hotel is right on the main street so easily walkable to shops, restaurants and attractions. The bus stop is right behind and the private car park was good for us. You can take a good hike from the hotel to the glacier viewpoint and also enjoy some good cycle rides. Although the hotel is a little dated, everything is good and comfortable. The reception team are friendly and helpful, the breakfast was fine. Overall, a good place and good value.
I absolutely loved staying at the Hotel Richemond and spent 8 nights there. The hotel is an old, traditional building steeped in history. The rooms are comfy and kept very clean by the attentive staff. Some of the rooms still have old fittings but this actually adds to the general charm and character. Breakfast is excellent with a generous buffet each morning. The staff in reception are extremely friendly, welcoming and helpful. Whilst none of the booking system is computerized, they still know each occupant and look after you individually. If you want a bit of history and character, then the Hotel Richemond is the place to stay. The views alone are superb, as is the very central location.
We stayed twice at the Hotel Richmond as part of our Tour de Mont Blanc with Exodus Travel. Overall we really enjoyed our stays. Clearly as a property rated 2 stars (not exactly sure what this is supposed to mean) and the prices charged you can’t expect the glitz of swankier places. But in our view this is more than compensated for by the great location (well worth paying for a balcony room at the front with great views of the Aiguille de Midi). The owners are charming and happy to discuss the hotel’s rich history with guests. There is a lovely quiet area at the front to enjoy very reasonably priced drinks away from the hustle of the town. Well presented breakfast. All in all a property with real character where we would be happy to stay again. Long may it prosper.
Safe was very helpful
