Hotel was charming, staff efficient and we would stay again
Pros:

The bedroom was small but very adequate and the bed was very comfortable. Considering it was the York Festival it was very quiet which was lovely.

Cons:

The bathroom had a very complicated shower over the bath, no mat for the bath itself. Although we are not in our dotage we could certainly have done with some sort of handle to get out of the bath.

Looking forward to returning
Pros:

Beautiful building, lovely room and excellent location. Stayed in the annex, very peaceful. Faye was a lovely stand out member of staff for dealing very well with my issues. Scott was manager on duty and an excellent manager he is. Will definitely stay again.

Cons:

Not much to dislike, small upset was dealt with swiftly and appropriately which is why I look forward to returning.

A nice hotel but it could and should be better. May stay there again for the York races.
Pros:

Nice room , would have preferred a bigger bed. it is a nice small boutique type hotel with pretensions of gourmet French which it does not quite achieve. Nice atmosphere and style.

Cons:

On top of room rate they charge you for using the car park at £20 per day which given that it is expensive anyway ,is a bit cheeky. Expected a better standard of food which it aspires to. We stayed for three nights and the first night was disappointing in the bistro . They were busy for the week with York races. We dined the third night and enjoyed the Chateaubriand. service charge is on top of the bill. The staff are nice but need better training. Breakfast is okay but you need to be gone by 10am.

Great hotel but service could be better
Pros:

The room was great

Cons:

Felt like Hotel du vin service was under pressure. Not as customer orientated as I would expect. Been going to this chain for over 20 years and I was disappointed. It was also expensive (over £500 a night) given the service provided.

Cons:

They could have changed the cushions on the bed , as they had stains on them. Also water in the Room would have been good.

This is a very badly run, overpriced hotel. Housekeeping is particularly disappointing
Pros:

The breakfast was good ...and the supervisor was very attentive . We also liked the attitude of the Reception Staff who were helpful , but at the same time helpless in the face terrible housekeeping .
The hotel is located in a nice place

Cons:

The biggest issue is terrible housekeeping . This has probably been outsourced to some agency who is not training its staff properly . Rooms are not cleaned , cups and glasses are not washed , beds are not made or turned in, left over coffee was poured into the sink and left dirty , coffee pods and tea caddies are not replenished, hand towels are not changed, bath mats are rolled up wet ......just the bath towels are changed ...even if we don't want them to be changed ! The Front Office staff seem helpless ...and were unable to do anything about it inspite of my pointing this out to them. I even showed them the state of our room. ( though to be fair, the Reception Lady was kind in replacing the wet bath mats and hand towels ..but just once )
The food ( apart from breakfast ) is very disappointing . Our char grilled steaks were like coal, the fish was off ...
There a charge of GBP 3 for using the umbrella ??? We are paying GBP 300 per night ! Surely this absurd charge is not justified !
