The whole hotel is absolutely beautiful, set in beautiful grounds and the room was stunning, staff were wonderful and nothing was too much trouble
Loved everything
A great choice close to the station in a nice area of York. Beautiful venue, helpful staff. Lovely aircon during the heatwave! Very well priced during my stay, was tempted by the upgrade however my room was already lovely.
I liked everything!
Kippers were great, first time I’ve had them fur tears. My partner loved the full English. All in all, perfect
I can’t think of. Single thing that needed improving. You have it all just right
Every thing great location and building
Nothing, maybe the pigeon's bombing my car in the car park.
Easy walking distance to centre. Comfortable beds, friendly staff
I recently stayed at Hotel du Vin York and, to be fair, the stay itself was pleasant overall. The room was comfortable, the hotel has a nice atmosphere, and I paid for one of the top-tier rooms expecting a premium experience consistent with previous stays I’ve had not only here, but at other Hotel du Vin properties across the country.
Unfortunately, the experience was overshadowed by an issue involving my vehicle during the stay, which has since cost me more than £30 in car washes, over an hour of my own time trying to rectify, and the issue still has not been fully resolved.
What disappointed me most was not necessarily the issue itself, but the complete lack of meaningful customer care afterwards. After explaining the situation politely and highlighting that I am a repeat customer of the brand, the response I received was essentially that there was “nothing they could do” and that they were pleased I had otherwise enjoyed my stay.
That response felt dismissive and short-sighted given both the inconvenience caused and the loyalty I had shown to the brand over multiple stays. A small gesture of goodwill or even a more empathetic response would likely have been enough.
It’s a shame because the hotel itself is good, but customer service is tested when something goes wrong — and in this case, I was left feeling completely unsupported. Sadly, because of how this was handled, I won’t be returning and will think twice before booking other Hotel du Vin locations in future.

Chambre superbe
Cadre de l’hôtel remarquable
Restaurant français très bon et copieux.
Service impeccable
Rien
Location and service were very good and room well priced for the money
£25 for dog pack was rich
Car parking at £20 - it all adds up
Would not recommend the sample menu unless you are a wine drinker - food was a secondary priority for the hotel
A stunning property with easy access to York
Nothing
Comfortable bed
Good breakfast choices
Great blackout curtains
Amazing shower!
Beautiful room
Pillows too soft
Cold poached eggs 😢
Good location and spacious room.
Great location and very friendly staff. We paid the cheapest rate on a Sunday night, and in comparison to other central hotels it was a good price for the comfort.
The room was in need of a little updating. It was quite noisy from the road, and the facilities weren’t perfect - the TV didn’t work that well, the windows wouldn’t stay open and the bathroom wasn’t the cleanest we’ve experienced. For the price we paid it was absolutely a good option, but we will probably look for somewhere else when we visit York again.
We loved the charm and character of the hotel, beautifully decorated room, enormous bathroom and location.
