Great location, character property
Slow to check in
I consider myself a difficult person to please, but the hotel was exceptional… The appearance, the facilities, the cleanliness, and especially the staff. They did their jobs very well and went out of their way to see that you had everything that you needed. The only thing I would’ve changed, was a small refrigerator in the room. We had several items of food, that would’ve lasted a bit longer in a refrigerator.
I guess I put my answer in the wrong place, but a refrigerator would have been helpful. Also, it was a bit difficult climbing into the bathtub because it was so high. But I guess as an American, I am not used to that.
Very quaint
Had to pay for parking
Lovely hotel with very friendly staff, great bar and places to sit. Bedroom was good with quality bathroom toiletries. Breakfast and dinner were excellent. Great location with short walk to centre.
Bath quite high so a bit of a climb into the bath to take a shower.
Very friendly and quick service. They tried hard to accommodate any needs.
The restaurant food was only okay and the meats were over cooked. The staff tried hard to make the experience positive. So maybe just hire better cooks?
We would love to share our experience with this amazing hotel.
We had originally booked to get married on the 2nd September 2026. However, my partner was diagnosed with an incurable illness in early July.
My partner & I made the decision to bring our special day forward.
We liased with Claire, who was our wedding coordinator, and she was able to smoothly rearrange the date in conjunction with availability at the registery office in York.
Claire and her team really worked their magic to give us and our loved ones a truly magical and memorable day. Our wedding breakfast room was laid perfectly, the food was delicious and service impeccable.
Big shout out as well to Scott, who really looked after us on the big day.
Our lovely friends reserved us a suite, and what an experience that was ! Anything less than 2 roll top baths will be a disappointment in the future :)
We had the perfect day, and I highly recommend anyone looking to get married to come and see for themselves.
So thank you, Claire, Scott, and the entire team for giving us a day we'll always treasure.
With love, Chris & Julie Wright

We have just returned from another perfect couple of nights at The Hotel Du Vin York. We return regularly and are never dissappointed. The rooms are beautiful, comfortable and well equipped. Breakfasts are delicious and there is a good variety, Michelle and team are always friendly and helpful. Faye, Christina and Reception team are very friendly and efficient, nothing is too much trouble. Good parking is very important to us and is available here onsite for an extra charge but well worth it. We can,t fault this hotel and look forward to returning soon.
The rooms were beautiful, very clean with good facilities. All the staff were lovely.
The shower gel in my room was pretty much empty, something I didn't find out till I took a shower on Sunday morning. There was a small soap which I could use but it would have been nice to use the gel.
