Lovely setting for a nice stay
Pros:

Staff were very helpful and friendly.

Cons:

I was cold. It would have been useful to have instructions on how to turn the air con down a bit. It was great in the heat but chilly when sleeping so I didn't get much sleep. Bar staff were often missing when we wanted serving and staffing felt very thin on the ground. Shame as you would have sold 20 lunches when my friends arrived but we couldn't get served as no bar service as staff member was helping dining staff. When we were finally served we were told there was a 40 min wait time. We got sorted and it didn't ruin plans but as a business, it was a lost opportunity on an otherwise quiet afternoon.

Great Position
Pros:

Lovely location , less than 10 mins walking to centre. We bid and were "awarded " an upgrade , so we had a suite which was very nice . Hotel was clean and staff friendly and accommodating .

Cons:

Restaurant menu was a tad heavy on Garlic as I hate the stuff ......would be even worse for anyone with an actual allergy . I think probably the costs were at the high end , but acceptable.

Impressive place, clean and well presented.
Pros:

A lovely hotel .
The entrance to the car park is tucked away a bit and can be easily missed even though it’s on the main road opposite Kwik Fit .Granted there were a lot of people about as it was a day at the races so the drive was pretty obscured. Pulling into the car park I was advised by another guest not to park under the trees as his car was covered with bird poop! The hotel is very nice . The staff were very friendly and attentive. We stayed in the Minster building, the room was clean and inviting. One thing to watch is the hot water in the bathroom. There are warnings on the taps but it is volcanic hot for some reason? A cool shower on a hot day might be a difficult. We skipped dinner and opted to eat in York . The bed was comfortable, depending on your pillow choice we found them a little lacking. We paid for English breakfast which was disappointing and quite dry. There are other options. York centre is a straight walk down the road, 10 to 15 minutes depending on how fast you walk . We would probably stay here again but would consider other options.

A real treat
Pros:

Breakfast was delicious, a good choice of fresh cooked options. The buffet was a little disappointing- I'd have preferred to have a range of breads to choose from.
The best part of the experience was the staff. They were friendly, professional and could not do enough to help.
The room we stayed in was beautiful. It had everything you wanted and was clean and fresh.

Cons:

My one grip was that service was on the bill at the restaurant. I'd have paid it and more but just really annoys me that I'm told I have to pay and how much without being given the option .

Lovely vibe - liked the mobile bar outside van which is there for York horse racing dates
Pros:

Well appointed with good character. Lovely bedroom. Location is just out of the city which is, to me, a good thing.

Cons:

The gentleman at the bar was a little inattentive.
