An experience we won’t be repeating.
Pros:

The location.

Cons:

Staff were not very welcoming just functional. There was no milk to go with the tea and coffee provided in the room; the information booklet gave completely the wrong details for accessing Wi-Fi (not life threatening, I know but very frustrating). The staff members were obviously accommodated in the room above ours, at the top of the building, and whilst I appreciate they have to walk around and chat, it’s really not acceptable to be woken at 7a.m. by one of them shouting the name of a friend/colleague (Stephen) at the top of his voice several times. On checking out there was no staff member to discuss our issues with.

Could have been better-a bit scruffy
Pros:

Loved that it was an old property. The bed was comfortable but was very very basic I’ve had better stays in an old building at a cheaper price than this. The staff were lovely and helpful. Was in a prime location.Has lots of character, reasonable sized room. The downstairs area to the hotel is beautiful but upstairs seems neglected.Breakfast was ok and not bad.my other half wasn’t too keen on his traditional breakfast.

Cons:

What I’m about to say is not to diss this hotel and the owners as the hotel downstairs is lovely and full of character.I also understand that it is an old building and does have creaking and uneven floors and wonky windows but the room could have been better. It was like no care taken for it to look nice or for it to accommodate guests needs. It seemed forgotten and neglected.Had a dirty sofa in there could do with a lick of paint and had dirty marks on the walls above the doors and on the walls same in the bathroom area.scruffy curtains up that I had to close to reduce the drafts coming through the gaps in the windows, bed linen was clean but looked worn and dated, carpet looked dirty can see dirt trail marks running round the sides of the bed where people have stayed there before,Cracks in the ceiling.also had a twenty foot extension cable with one plug socket on it running around the head of the bed it was either charge your phone or plug the lamp in.Wasn’t as nice as it looked in the pictures.
When we arrived the room was very cold I spent the first two hours with my coat on until the heating kicked in around 5pm.Heating being controlled downstairs by the owners so would only come on via their timer. But once it was eventually on was warm and warmed the room up a bit but took ages to do so.
The hot water was cold all the time no toilet roll holder only what was on the floor holding two they give you and the toilet seat was not fitted properly.A lot of noise generated from downstairs and adjoining rooms. The blind in the bathroom didn’t make being in the bathroom private as it didn’t fit properly.could see the neighbours whilst sat on the toilet Had also dirty windows to look out of.Didn’t smell very fresh.
what I didn’t like was their was no milk in the room for hot drinks, and found myself having to go down three flights of stairs and back to fetch some just to have a hot drink,5 teabags a couple of sachets of sugar same with having one biscuit between two of us.

Fab location, lovely staff, but rooms could do with an update.
Pros:

Location is excellent. Good breakfast. More choice for children would be nice- pancakes etc.

Cons:

Carpet was very stained in the loft family room and there was an unclean smell. WiFi doesn’t work in that room and none of the tv apps (Netflix) worked because of poor signal.
