Great location, food and staff but needs a good lick of paint
Pros:

Location, staff and good food

Cons:

It’s very tired and needs a freshen up in the rooms and hallways to bring it back to its original glory

Poor, dirty, service is questionable. Avoid. Plenty of other lovely hotels in Whitby. Don’t be persuaded to stay here be
Pros:

Historical building.

Cons:

Poor greeting and service from staff.
Room full of cobwebs. Burnt throw on the bed. Windows didn’t open in 25 degrees. Desperately in need of decoration, stains and chipped paint everywhere. Poor breakfast, no care over service, no water or juice served after it was ordered.
Visited pub on Friday night and the beer was flat and the guiness tasted off. Left and drinks and went back to our room.

Pros:

It was great, right in the middle of the cobbles - the food was great and the staff were lovely! Very much looking forward to visiting again soon.

Cons:

If you are a light sleeper maybe bring some earplugs to block out the seagulls, I will be doing this next time - but you're visiting the seaside, seagulls are part of the package!

Saturday night stay
Pros:

Lovely location. Breakfast was good. The downstairs of the pub is beautiful.

Cons:

The room and the staircase leading up to it was quite scruffy. It's beautiful quirky and very old building, but needs a bit of a tidy up such as repainting as the walls are marked and have peeling paint. The mattress wasn't comfortable. No milk provided with the coffee, tea and kettle in the room.
