The old building, the grounds, close to a lovely park to walk in. Very friendly and helpful staff.
There was no bath robe in the room.
The whole hot water tap on the hand basin twists to the left to turn it off completely.. it needs to be looked at.
Lovely place
Loved it
Friendly staff and really clean
Bathroom was awkward; damaged bath, no shower, taps too close to tge wailll to turn easily.
Bed not very comfortable.
Breakfast slow. Had to ask for enough cuos and glasses.
The room was modern and clean
The walls were thin and could hear the tv in the next room, kept me awake
Nice historic building not grandiose but homely.
Lovely grounds (no disabled access to grounds though)
Staff very helpful and pleasant
Decor in public rooms very nice.
Restaurant very good quality food but limited menu.
Good Parking
No Restaurant service after 5 pm on Sundays.
Closed bar early despite being told bar would be open until 10:30. (Closed at 10:10)
Choice of cocktails limited by lack of ingredients.
No WiFi in my room (Holly)
Room decor tired and needs a refurb.
Room in an annex so if it rains expect to get wet if you want dinner. A pleasant stay over 8 nights.
Good relaxing atmosphere.
Overall probably better to stay somewhere else but come here for dinner (except Sundays)
Exceeded expectations. Great hotel. Food surprisingly excellent. Wonderful staff
My room was at the top of the hotel and as the weather was hot, my room was very warm. Also check prior to arrival which rooms have showers as mine only had a bath, which I only realised once I was there
Lovely location and helpful staff
No snacks available
The Staffs were nice and the bathroom have good space and Room also.
That I paid extra 25 pounds for two hours early check in considering arriving with morning flight into Newcastle. They also have no air-conditioning in room.
Excellent service, great food and comfortable clean rooms. An excellent location, a short drive from Newcastle.
Very nice breakfast and friendly staff
Unclear what the evening meal arrangements were.
Nice building, well kept and lovely garden.
No air conditioning in the bedrooms.
Location and comfort was very good. Staff very polite and efficient.
Staff were very helpful and respectful. Food was superb and served in a very welcoming a conservatory
Some of the outdoor furniture was past its best, looked dated and in need of repair or painted.
Lovely relaxing hotel with lots of old world charm but well maintained. Friendly staff and I loved the music (both a live singer on arrival, then background music) playing downstairs, added atmosphere but wasn’t at all noisy.
My only slight gripe is only a blind, no curtains in my room. In the summer mo the that definitely makes for an early bright wake up.
The breakfast
The room was far too hot. As they are the old type of sash window, which were painted shut! I asked for a fan, which I did receive, but it was still very hot. We'd already moved rooms, as the TV in the first room didn't work. Which the girl behind the reception desk was aware of. So why wasn't this fixed before letting the room again. The rooms themselves are a little tired. But I appreciate that the upkeep on this type of property must be huge. The first evening we ate in their restaurant, I had a burger, which was mediocre, husband had a garden pie, which seemed to consist of peas and carrots. Not great value for money. The best thing was the breakfast. I had a fully cooked breakfast the first morning, and eggs benidict for the next two mornings, these were all very well cooked.
A brilliant great value hotel with good food, genuine friendly staff and excellent location.
Priced as a budget hotel, but offers so much more.
We both loved this place.
Heerlijk gegeten.
