Noisy. We heard tube trains passing under the hotel. Ear plugs were provided which worked but be aware!
Cannot comment on staff as I didn't see anyone during my two night stay. In my room two light bulbs needed replacing, as did the light outside the bedroom door. The shower was very slow to drain and needs sorting. Minor points which I would have mentioned to a receptionist if there had been one. Otherwise all was fine - clean, comfortable and secure. Entry instructions very clear.
Super place to stay in London - easily accessible underground to Central London.
Excellent base for Clapham South tube. Gooe location for Clapham Common. Had a good 3 day stay.
Very nice location near Clapham Common if you want to be more outside central London. Close to transit. The place was clean and easy to access. Only downside is it is on a main street with very loud vehicles driving by during all hours of the night.
Easy check in. Well appointed apartment with everything we needed. Good shower.
I’m giving this property a 4 out of 5. Check in was staffless, I had to collect my key card from a lock box on-site. No problem with this. Room was very clean and bed was comfortable. I think the property needs to invest in air conditioning for the rooms because I happened to be staying there on the hottest day of the year but it was miserably hot.
Lovely area, nice apartment.
Really well situated, and close to the underground. Really lovely host and rooms are basic, but equipped with everything you need for a one-night stay with some characteristics kept from the original building. Thank you Gateway! :)
It was clean and served the purpose. It was good that we could open the windows to cool the room down, but had to close them to sleep due to road & pedestrian noise.
Great location, easy access
Easy self check in and check out. Room was clean, towels provided, free WiFi, short distance from tube. Nothing fancy and decent budget hotel for one night away. Would use again.
It was good value for money but the hotel is looking a bit tired
Good location, close to tube and shops. Clean, comfy and great value.
It was OK, a bit old and noisy.
The Gateway Hotel is my favorite stay choice in London. You feel like a Londoner when you stay here. The place emphasizes your privacy. Once you get you key card you don’t have to go through the lobby again. IThe best location
I rate my one night stay as good value for money. If budget is the main criteria, you will find this place ok.
Several positives as follows:
- less than 5 min walk to a tube or train station
- fairly clean
- good communication
- fridge and desk provided
- private bathroom
- rather warm room temperature (you might want to adjust the radiator as I did)
Cons:
- it’s located by a main busy road, therefore don’t expect silence (spare pair of disposable ear plugs provided in each room)
Check in was easy, and the overstay for a night was alright given the price, though I expect cleaning to include the entire room and not just the overall appearance, since opening a draw with old pretzel crumbs and droppings isn’t the most pleasant thing to see.
The walls are quite thin, but the noise is tolerable generally.
Not a bad place for a short stay, staff prepared the key and information quickly for us to know how to check in or if we had any issues, how we should contact them
maybe just had a bad room. ear plugs on bed side table suggests noise complaints pretty common. alot of flushing toilets and super noisy fridge, traffic (but tough to avoid on main road I guess) and plumbing makes weird gurgling noises alot.
cleaner between nights one and two could have been a bit more thorough also.
but otherwise generally fine and the managers very nice.
Friendly staff, easy access to room and close to underground tubes.
