We have never stayed at this hotel before, . We had just had 2 nights at the Claremont hotel in Blackpool and 2 nights at The Dolby Hotel in Liverpool. The reception for this hotel is on the 1st floor. We booked in and headed to our room. It was modern and tastefully done. I would say the nicest room we've stayed in thus far on our mini road trip. The bar area was really nice and staff were friendly. My only bugbear was the parking. There is a sizeable car park for this hotel but, because we'd booked through booking.com and not direct with the hotel we had to pay for parking at £15 per night, so it cost us £30 to park the car. Booking.com did not make it obvious that you had to pay. In the list of facilities it just says "parking available " it's only when you go to customer questions and one asks if parking is available, it does say yes but chargeable at £15 a day. £30 was a bit out of our tight budget "spending money budget," and meant that we couldn't eat out that night as planned, but the hotel was very nice and reception gave us a £10% off food and drink voucher. We had a drink in the bar, but didn't have food.
The location of this hotel is perfect. We enjoyed our stay but left, now £30 down on spending money. Would I recommend, or stay again, yes to the hotel, but a no because of the parking charge.
We have a fantastic stay at the Hotel for our wedding anniversary at the beginning of February.
Jo at the hotel was extremely helpful and couldn’t do enough to make our stay special.
I would definitely recommend this hotel. Top quality room, great breakfast and really friendly staff. Once again, thank you to Jo in reception for making our stay so memorable.
This was our second visit to the Waterside hotel Southport. We stayed for 2 nights February 11th and 12th.We had a superior room but we didn't believe it to be superior to be honest. There was a coffee machine which was nice but no bottled water to hand which we believe to be standard in the majority of all hotel rooms.I found hairs on the bathroom floor and also in the bath. They hook near the door to place towels was hanging off.We had booked a breakfast for our first morning and on the information card it stated that breakfast was served until 10.30am.We arrived downstairs at 10am and most of the hot items had gone. There were no sausages, eggs tomatoes or mushrooms only 1 piece of bacon and some dried up hashbrowns! Another 4 diners came down also all workmen staying over at the hotel and there was no hot food available for them.Im sorry but all breakfast items should be available on hand until 10.30am as stated.I approached a lady to ask and she said they start to remove breakfast items just before 10am.She said she would get me a couple of things as I had asked her but in future be down earlier!! The poor workmen had to make do with cereal and toast. We didn't have this experience on our first visit last year and so unfortunately we won't be visiting again. We also believe the £15 pound parking charge each night is too high.
Spent a night here and thought this place was great. The room with the balcony was amazing, the breakfast was really good and the staff so friendly. Even loved the quirkiness of the reception being on floor 1.
Two night break after some recent health issues.
My partner and my 12-year-old son, and our dog.
At the time of booking, the price wasn't much more expensive than the Travelodge(our usual abode). We checked in with minimum fuss around tea-time. We noticed in the bathroom they had only catered wirh towels for two people, but this was no big deal. We knew that would be easily rectified.
We were all just having a quiet ten minutes before going for a drink in the bar, when another customer using his own keycard entered our room!!!
Thankful of being fully dressed, ourselves and this chap went down to receptiom jusifiably angry.
Our dog fee was waived as compensation for the 'mishap'
Our room was lovely. Spotlessly clean, spacious with a lovely view of the marina.
With a 10% discount for guests at the bar.
Just shy of £13 for 2 pints of lager. Jesus wept!!
The bar area of brightly coloured soft furnishings on first glance looks beautiful, but on sitting there you notice how heavily stained they are.
We had food delivered.
The entrance to the hotel(Reception is level 1) smelled heavily of cannabis. It is unmanned and a haven for undesireables seeking shelter.
Thats yer lot!
Great location and parking, although the £15 parking charge is a lot higher than nearby hotels who are charging £6. Missing a few basic things for a Superior room such as bottled water, biscuits and a fridge (there's an empty cupboard with a fridge vent so I'm sure why there isn't one). Bar prices are way too expensive so we could only afford one drink at over £25 for 2 drinks! For a higher room standard and reasonably priced drinks, I'd recommend The Bold Hotel!
Good location
Nice decor inside
Not ideal layout for dogs when eating
Perfect location, absolutely brilliant staff so friendly and welcoming. Rooms are really good, breakfast is outstanding, however the best thing are Jake’s cocktails the man is a master mixologist, valentines special is a treat.
We had our wedding party at the waterfront so stayed again for an anniversary and it exceeded expectations again! We had a three course meal in the restaurant and breakfast which were both a very high standard we enjoyed so much. The penthouse is beautiful, clean and presented beautifully. All communal areas are amazing with a view of the lake and the sea. Love this hotel. Staff and service excellent. Thank you x
Lovely hotel the staff all lovely especially as we had problems with hotels.com and the hotel sorted themselves pretty much so we could not fault a thing room was really nice and clean breakfast was delicious lots of choice we would stay here again location is great for Southport very happy customers
Southport Caledonian Society Ball on 31st January.
After some time in administration I think that there may be new owners in place and there has been an immediate improvement in standards across the board.
Well done to Frank and Ella for all the work done leading up to our date and to Daiva and chef Simon on the night. Food and service were excellent. Our evening was a complete success.
A pleasant (short) stay. Excellent facilities and easy secure parking beneath the hotel. The room was clean and well presented. Air con controls were easy to operate.
The food in the restaurant was excellent and the staff were very helpful and responsive.
A great spot to explore this lovely region from!
Beautiful hotel: clean , comfortable beds, tea & coffee facilities, towels & toiletries supplied. Friendly staff. Breakfast : lots of choice continental and hotel to choose from.
Excellent room, fantastic view & really clean.
Good setup in the bathroom.
Great location.
All staff are lovely & really friendly.
Fabulous food (thank you John)
We have had a great couple of days here & would definitely recommend!!
We will be back.
A massive thank you to all of you.
Best wishes, love from Mo & Rod. Xx
This is a good hotel. The staff are really helpful. The room clean, and comfortable. The car park was hard to find, for us and others, better signage required. The breakfast excellent value and fine. However I noticed on other reviews the management feel the bar prices are realistic. I am sorry to disagree, a glass of Pinot Grigio =£12.75 and a pint of Guinness =£7.25 is beyond belief. As a result whilst we felt we would have loved to use the bar more ( very comfortable) I felt I was being ripped off, so we retired regretfully to our room to enjoy drinks bought outside ( A litre of proprietor whisky, the same price £20). Please adjust your bar prices to a more realistic level.
Very happy with our stay. We’d not stayed in this hotel before when visiting family and friends in Southport so decided to give it a go.
Great location, within easy walking distance of all town centre attractions. Rooms are well equipped and the beds are comfy. We tried the breakfast buffet one day (if you book it in advance at reception it’s £10 vs £13 on the day) and there was lots of tasty food, including various gluten free options for my wife.
Overall, we would definitely stay again. Recommended.
Stayed new yeas eve 31/12/25 Room was lovely and comfortable everything you needed was in the room for a great stay , ( a shower cap would be great in the bathroom as I forgot mine ) the room was very very clean, the hotel is beautifully furnished great bar and restaurant, the hotel is central to all the amenities in Southport if you wanted to explore , all the staff we encountered were great, had a fabulous nights sleep it was very peaceful in the hotel, the breakfast was very good lots of variety, very good value for money we will be booking again in warmer weather to take advantage of the outside terrace which looked amazing
What can we say other than excellent hotel, our Superior King Room was perfect it had a super comfy bed, was exceptionally clean, with great decor and even had a lovely view of Blackpool tower in the distance.
Check-in was very efficient, Rhonda, James and the other lady on duty when we checked were so friendly and helpful, Rhonda was above and beyond phoning through to check for a local restaurant nearby for us.
Breakfast was of high standard and really delicious. There is a good choice for everyone.
Underground car park is great
Will definitely be returning and recommending after our wonderful New Year’s Eve stay.
Stayed here New Years Eve. Fabulous hotel, staff very pleasant and friendly. Reception area is beautiful with comfy settees and chairs, all still decorated for Christmas. Gorgeous superior room 523 with views of the lake and huge comfy bed.
Breakfast served buffet style, well worth the money 10/10, everything you could want and all hot and tasty.
Plenty of bars locally...within walking distance most with live music as it was New Years Eve.
Back to our room around 11.30pm and watched a firework show from our bedroom window.
Absolutely amazing time, thank you Waterfront Hotel.
This was I think our fourth time staying here. We have family in Southport, so it’s really handy.
I honestly can’t fault the hotel or staff. We booked via Booking.com and had paid for early check-in. We arrived even earlier than the early check-in time, but the lovely Sophie on reception looked after us, and as the room was ready we got in the room straight away. We’d booked one of their suites, they’re great rooms - spacious, seriously comfy beds and with amazing views over the Marine Lake and out over the beach.
The location of the hotel is great, close to the lake, the pier, the big wheel, beautiful walks around the lake, and just on the edge of the town, so it’s really peaceful.
Breakfast is fantastic, a hot and cold self service buffet. No floppy bacon here, lovely and crisp, and tasty sausages, not nasty cheap ones.
A perfect place to stay if you’re in Southport.
