The check in was fast and friendly, the room is lovely, with a nice view. There was quite a lot of noise from the street below early in the morning and the church bells were regular throughout the night. The breakfast was a good amount but lukewarm spolt the vibe. The price we paid , i think was high for this standard.
The room was acceptable, the breakfast the first morning included a burnt tomato and burnt fried egg. The tables were not laid and there was no one to help. No proper fruit juice and no fresh fruit. Very poor. It improved the next morning.
Great little stay , very busy little pub ….but ..the room amazingly well insulated from noise !
Fantastic breakfast !
Friendly and attentive staff and overall great feel to the pub..
Stayed for 2 nights nice welcome first day. Breakfast was poor, eggs hard, bread soggy think had been prepared a while in advance. Ate in hotel first night food was fine. Second day asked for heating to be turned down as thermostats not working, then no heat at all.
Would return
Super overnight stop - ancient building (so, sloping floors, quirky staircases / corridors), but with modern facilities in room. Great breakfast, with super friendly service
Very dog friendly
Stayed here as we where at a wedding not far away, hotel manager sorted our transport to and from the wedding wich I was so greatful, room very clean and bed was so so comfortable, breakfast was lovely overall lovely stay
Excellent location. Very clean. Amazingly good breakfast.
Lovely stay. Friendly staff. Room modern and clean. Beds very comfortable. Breakfast nice and a lot of choice. Rooms quiet.
The accommodation was very good (except for the window which needs some attention), the en-suite was excellent. Both the evening meal and the breakfast were excellent. We can't see what some of the other reviewers found wrong with the breakfast. It was freshly cooked to order, delivered by a very pleasant young lady. All the staff we encountered were equally so. Excellent location on the main street.
Room was very top of hotel with no lifts. Shown to room by barman but offered no help with bags. I’m 70 years of age and 5 flights of stairs was a struggle. Asked for another room but was told hotel was full. Decided to stay as was only one night. I think when people are getting booked into rooms up 5 flights of stairs it may be an idea to check for any mobility issues with not offering lift facility. And staff should certainly be offering to help with bags!
I stayed 3 nights with my parents while visiting Cragside and other parts of Northumberland and the Queen's Head was a good base. The rooms were clean and tidy and had a good selection of teas and coffees. They weren't cleaned during our stay but that wasn't an issue for such a short stay - extra supplies including towels were available as needed. There was off-road parking behind, and the one meal we had in the restaurant was enjoyed by all. Staff were all friendly, and the breakfast choices were all good. Very happy with our choice!
The hotel was comfortable reasonably clean but could do with some renovations and decorating but overall was comfortable and warm .
Premises very much in need of lots of TLC. Twin rooms cramped and right on the top floor, accessible only via several flights of rather steep stairs. There is no lift. The beds however are very comfortable. Small Shower cubicle with plentiful hot water. Unfortunately the temperature control was stuck solid on hot
There are no evening meals on Mondays and Tuesdays.
Breakfast menu very limited, Full English, Eggs Benedict, Toast or American Pancakes with Maple syrup. No cereal or fruit, just orange juice, tea or coffee. The Breakfast lady was very pleasant and very helpful with her local knowledge. Overall not impressed and won't be returning until premises and facilities improve
Typical country hotel. The staff are friendly and helpful. The food (dinner and breakfast) was nicely served but the fryer is overused, so wouldn't excite Michelin man. The bedroom was clean and well decorated, the bed very comfortable and quiet although the windows wouldn't open. The hotel could do with a maintenance man a couple of days a week, the toilet seat was loose, the corridor paintwork needs touching up and the corridor/ stair carpets need replacing or at least cleaning to name but a few.
First time in Rothbury, will visit again with partner. Good size room, very comfy bed, good food, good staff. Only one real ale but Black Sheep was a great pint.
Nice pub B&B. Friendly staff. Room en suite was clean and basic. Unfortunately due to the season the restaurant closed early so cannot comment on the food
Bar was closed
Very Good, would happily stay here again
