Somerville Hotel

Basic hotel, as expected by 2 star rating. Booked for convenience to local music venue visited and availability of unrestricted free on-street parking outside. Bedroom was reasonable size and bed was comfortable, but the en-suite bathroom was too small for someone my size (194cm and 140kg) as I struggled to use the toilet, squeezed in between a wall and the adjacent shower cubicle. Surfaces above 5" high were very dusty - e.g. top of wardrobe and top of coat rack. I'm a non-smoker, but despite 'No Smoking' signs (and a warning that anyone caught smoking would be asked to leave) there was a pervasive smell of stale cigarette smoke in my room - possibly from the wardrobe, perhaps from clothes of previous occupants? Some air fresheners or similar may have helped. Just for somewhere to sleep it was perfectly adequate, the breakfast was reasonable (although fresh orange juice would be a big improvement over the squash served) and the hosts were friendly and welcoming. Cheap and cheerful sums this place up.

Small but nice room, bed was comfortable. Could see Blackpool tower from the window. Some maintenance issues and thick dust on top of the wardrobe but not really an issue. Keith was very helpful and the breakfast was great. Hotel was a 15 - 20min walk to the tower along the sea front.

Second time I've stayed. Lovely couple running the place. Good price and a full fry up in the morning.

Not far from the front, clean and tidy room and really lovely people that run the place. The breakfast was spot on as well!

Great homely guest house. Shelia and Keith were lovely and couldn’t do enough for us. The room was comfortable and clean with everything we needed. The breakfast was delicious with plenty of coffee on hand.

Great stay. Lovely welcoming hosts. Great room, very comfortable. Close to all the attractions that Blackpool has to offer. Will definitely stay again next time we are down.

😁 - friendly owners, nice breakfast, in a quieter area but still close enough to amenities.
😕 - could smell cigarette smoke in the property, even with the abundance of plug in air fresheners. Dusty along the top of the shower unit, shaving light and en-suite skirting boards.
