The best thing about this hotel is its convenient location and the polite staff (except for the receptionist).
Unfortunately, upon check-in we were scammed out of 1,000 baht. The receptionist told us it was a deposit, did not provide any receipt, and promised we would get the money back on the day of check-out. However, at check-out we were told that we had never paid anything and that we were supposedly checked in without a deposit. This would be funny if it weren’t so unpleasant.
Since I left one day earlier, my sister tried to get the deposit back on her own, but they refused. She had to call the police and check the security cameras, but the “necessary moment” of the money being handed over was somehow missing. In the end, my sister never got the money back because she was already late for the airport.
We were not informed about any deposit policy in advance, and now we regret not paying everything by card.
Advice for future guests: always pay by card and always ask for receipts.
The room was very small, with almost no space for luggage, a lot of dust, and the cleaning was not done every day. Breakfast was okay, but not very varied.
I had booked a 5-night stay at Oakwood Residence in Bangkok. From the moment I arrived, the experience started very poorly: there was a power outage, and the hotel was running on a generator. That alone is not a major issue, but what is truly unacceptable is the complete lack of communication from the staff. Not a single smile, no gesture of hospitality — not even offering a drink. Guests were simply left waiting by the pool.
After one hour, I went back to the reception to ask for more information. They eventually gave me the room key (which they could have done from the beginning). The electricity came back on ten minutes after I entered the room.
The room offers basic comfort, but it is not particularly clean: dirty bathroom mirror, long hairs on the floor, unwashed coffee cups and spoons. The Wi-Fi works, but blocks certain pages and VPNs — even official websites — which is very inconvenient for a business traveler.
On the first day, housekeeping knocked on my door at 4:30 pm to clean the room, which is far too late.
For breakfast, which starts at 6:30 am, not a single smile from the staff or the manager during the entire stay. The way they ask for the room number is surprisingly cold and unfriendly. The room is so over-air-conditioned that food becomes cold almost instantly, so you end up eating cold meals. Staff members spend their time on their phones or eating in front of guests. Truly a disappointing service.
There are no more international TV channels — only local ones — meaning you cannot follow the news. They installed a Smart TV instead, which is not an adequate solution.
When I asked for information about a nearby BTS station, I was told: “Just ask at the BTS counter, they will tell you.”
An unacceptable answer from a hotel that also claims to provide tour reservation services.
Finally, when I wanted to book a metered taxi to the airport — which normally costs 450–500 baht — they first offered me a limousine at 1,200 baht, then a “taxi” at 800 baht. The next morning, it wasn’t even a taxi but a private car. For 800 baht, they could at least have taken the expressway instead of wasting time in the 6:30 am traffic. They also don’t give you any ticket or receipt when you pay for the taxi, which is completely unacceptable.
This is clearly a rip-off.
It is obvious that I will never return to this establishment, which severely lacks proper training and basic kindness.
This has to be one of Best not expensive give it a try.
We habve Been going 10+ years even wehen it was old Astera
Has been upgraded extensive upgrade a few million Baht.
Better than ever
Great hotel!
This was a birthday celebration for me and my husband. First time in Thailand. I am very happy that we pick Oakwood to stay, it is a wonderful hotel. The staff are beyond wonderful. We have always traveled for our birthday, i can say Oakwood help made it very special. From sending personalized birthday cakes to our room and assisting in making reservations for dinners and tours. If and when we visit Thailand again we will definitely be staying at Oakwood.
Very good hotel. Clean and well furnished rooms. Great service. Indian food on property, limited items, but food was excellent. Breakfast has 1 or 2 indian items. Limited vegetarian options and Indian options nearby. Close to several tourist spots and very close to BTS.
Thanks to the team, the service was great especially the cheerful breakfast team
My wife had lost her watch on the day we checked out. We went back to Iconsiam to make another purchase and when we returned to get our bags, the hotel receptionist pulled the missing watch and gave it back to my wife! We were so happy and many thanks to the hotel staff for finding this watch!!! We really enjoyed our 3 nights at Oakwood and highly recommend it to other travelers! Thanks again!
This was an amazing time. The staff, room and breakfast was beyond what we could have asked for!
The staff was not accommodating of our situation -my husband had a broken ankle and was on crutches, yet they placed us in the room furthest down the hall, requiring a long and painful walk. After we left a review, they did offer us another room the next day, but we declined as our stay was short and the new room was even smaller. What’s frustrating is that much larger rooms were clearly available, which they could have offered from the start. The doormen were friendly and helpful, but the front desk staff showed no initiative or concern at all.
Good location, but not riverside. Clean. Good breakfast buffe.
The staff there was really helpful. One night, the next room was too noisy laud. She stopped it.
Fantastic location that includes a very diverse breakfast menu for a large group.
Staff are friendly and very helpful for any needs.
Close location to train station, 7-11, mall, coffee shop, and message venues.
Wonderful clean rooms with shampoo, condition, body wash snd lotion. Hairdryer in the room. Laundry shop across the street for the public.
Wonderful final farewell dinner for our group was catered by the hotel restaurant and was exceptional.
Opportunity: beds are extremely hard and difficulty to get comfortable in; maybe a thicker pillow top mattress pad could be offered.
I really did enjoyed my short stay (3 nights) but will definitely come visit again (for longer)
Very friendly staff, check-in was done very efficient and professional. Nice clean room and shower.
Great location, close to the BTS.
Thank you very much!

Property was nice, maintenance staff was visible each day working on something - keeping the property up, staff was nice, room was nice.
Bad was terrible - hard as a rock. Hotel states is has a shuttle but it doesnt. They work with a cab and charge a fee for helping you get the cab. ($1,500 b = $1000 for cab + $500 for hotel)
Website boasts sound proof walls - ha thats a joke. You hear everything
The property overcharge me for my upgrade.
Staff were friendly but the breakfast was over priced
Close proximity to Chao Phraya river for easy access to all the places we need to see in Bangkok. Highly recommended. The staff are friendly at check in and check out. I would come back to stay again.
