Pros:

Location walked everywhere especially to Jesus Fort area and easy tuk tuk ride back if needed

Cons:

I read other comments and now I agree they need to put mini fridges in rooms so you can keep things cool and fresh

Pros:

The hotel is rundown. Needs lot of renovation. Location is good but facilities are very poor. Not worth the price. Or close down or turn it into a guest house. The name sentrim royal is completely inappropriate for a lousy dump

Pros:

Have been visiting this hotel since last 5 years. A 100 year old hotel which was at one time a gem on old kilindini road . What a far cry it is now from what it was . Completely rundown with mediocre food .
I had hoped that after my last review in 2025 the place would have improved but sadly it has deteriorated even more . Such a prime location . If Sentrim wants they can return this hotel to its past glory . The location is prime centrally located . But all the rest is very very mediocre .

Best hotel in Mombassa CBD
Pros:

I recommend this hotel and restaurant. I have been visiting the restaurant especially for about a couple years now. The staff are super nice, always going the extra ole to make guests feel welcomed. Great facilities, very clean and well maintained. Extra thanks to Caroline and Ivy for their help today.

Pros:

😊 I had a great experience at the hotel. The staff were super friendly, and the room had a good colonial architecture Plus, the breakfast buffet was lit 🔥 - lots of local and international options. And it's a great base for exploring Mombasa's attractions.

Hotel central pour Old town, semble avoir vécu une histoire digne d’un film c’est plein d’âme. Le personnel est globalement très sympa.

Cons:

C’est finalement un peu vétuste, les services de la chambre sont sommaires voire dépassés. La piscine hors-sol détonne. Le personnel est sympa mais très très lent et n’anticipe pas grand chose.

we are sorry to say but it didn't live up to its star rating.
Pros:

The location was exactly what we wanted, the room was very nice and clean, but the shower was very poor. The staff were really nice.

Cons:

The food unfortunately was very poor, we asked for meals that were on the menu, but we were told not available. The actual quality of the food presented was well below the acceptable standard and let the whole experience of staying at the hotel down.

Pros:

Very central, 5 minutes with Tuk Tuk to Fort Jesus, . Good service. Good internet. Good value for the price.

Cons:

Breakfast was not included. Price was 2500 KES, which I thought waa too much so I ate outside. When showering the whole bathroom got wet.

Outdated Hotel with Disappointing Food and Poor Service

I had a very disappointing experience at this hotel. From the moment I arrived, it was clear that the property is long overdue for renovation. The rooms felt outdated, with worn-out furniture, dim lighting, and a general lack of cleanliness that made it hard to feel comfortable.

The biggest letdown, however, was the food. The meals were consistently below standard—bland, poorly prepared, and often served lukewarm. Breakfast options were limited and unappetizing, and dinner was no better. It felt like very little effort was put into quality or presentation.

Service was also lacking, with staff appearing disinterested and slow to respond to requests. Overall, the experience did not match expectations, and I would not recommend this hotel to anyone looking for comfort or good dining.
