For a business trip is good, like mine, the suttle bus is not when you are ready as the reception girl said to me, you must wait, I waited 10 min and nothing around 7 am, because the location, I just walked to the airport, the aircon never worked, just like a normal fan, it is very funny because they charged you to use the pool towel but if you return it they give you the money back, the internet is free just outside, if you want in your room you must pay, we are in the 21st century and in here you still need to pay inside your room for the internet and the worst, the tv cable is just 11 channels, the pool and the food excellent, dont get me wrong, the people is very nice, it is the policy of the hotel that is "weird", again, for 1 day is good, no more than that.
Fiji Gateway has a lovely ambience with excellent staff. It is perfect for the access to the airport.
I have stayed here before, and ita been great. The staff are great, location is convenient, food is just okay. This timr Inwas put in a less desirable room, room 710. I would advise to avoid at all costs. It is small, dark with no natural light. The room backs on to a staff walkway between the hitel lobby and im guessing a place for staff only. So if curtains are open they are literslly right there. If they are noisey, it can be really noisey. You also hear the musicians feom the resteraunt, and its opposite a laundry room, and if rhe ckeaners are in there it can also be noisy. As you are right by the restersunt, every person, family with bags roll past your door. One thing that annoyed me with the food is if you get poached eggs in the moening, they cut the toast for you into triangles, i dont know why. But when i have runny eggs i like to cut it up on a whole piece of bread for the bread to get all the egg. Other then that, this place is fine. Great free shuttle.
I must admit that I was a little disappointed with my overnight stay here. The room and pool area were good / no issues.
The two things that have resulted in a lower rating is the restaurant and internet.
I can't remember the last time I was at a hotel in the past 5 years, in which the hotel charged for internet. No, wait, I do remember - never! $15 for 24 hours. Stop the nickel and diming.
We had dinner at the hotel restaurant. We ordered a chicken burger and a chicken panini. The flavor was really good, and the size of the sandwiches were appropriate. The problem was with the chicken. On each sandwich was one thinly sliced piece of chicken breast that covered about 1/3 or 1/2 of the bread. We essentially cut the burger and panini in half and onlt ate the half with chicken.
We felt the hotel was trying to rip us off or squeeze every extra dollar out of us.
Stay here if you have an early morning flight (like we did), or stay elsewhere.
Fiji Gateway hotel is very close to Nadi International airport.
The hotel provides shuttle service from the airport to the hotel and vice-versa..
Decent place for food at the Palm Restaurant and one can get decent Vegetarian and non-vegetarian options.
Friendly staff.
The Rooms and the overall experience from Reception to Housekeeping makes one stay feel like home…A special mention to this particular person Kelera from the Restaurant was just so professional to us and all staff that requested help…very hard to find staff of this calibre in the Hospitality Industry
Our initial plan was to transition on our trip from Vancouver to Melbourne but the flight schedule was changed so we spent 3 full days. The hotel turned out to be better than expected with the staff being absolutely amazing. The shuttle from the airport went very smoothly with numerous people helping us on where exactly we would be picked up. For those are above height be aware that the doors are roughly 6' 4". The meals in the dining room were quite good but don't expect 5 Star Michelin. Overall, a strong recommendation for all ages including families.
We have been staying at Gateway Hotel for 20 years and like most things about it. However do NOT plan on getting anything done there that requires the use of WiFi. Though they have it and it’s free, it rarely will load no matter where you are in the facility. Unfortunately, cellular data did not work for us either using a Saily eSIM.
the service at the gateway hotel was amazing . the staff were super friendly and the food at the palm court hotel was sooo good! and i enjoyed the fact that they have room service and within walking distance to the airport they also have a free airport shuttle.
I would like to thank the ladies in the front for going an extra mile tryna sort out our wifi issues & being patient with us. Especially one of a guest, that was struggling with English but one of the lady took time trying to help him using a phone translation. Top notch! I loved it. I think her name was sei. Thank you Fiji Gateway- love Lulu❤️
One night only before transfer to an island. We had a lonely dinner by the pool. The food was great and the service so attentive as we’ve found on all our trips to Fiji.
A smile, a giggle and genuine helpfulness. The room was clean and a great size. Overlooking the pool we sat out after dinner and enjoyed watching children and some big kids use the slide into the pool. It looked like fun, but we were not game LOL.
Easy and fast checkout in the morning after a great breakfast. All meals were reasonably priced.
I’d stay here again if I had to spend a night on the mainland before transferring.
Also a great base for those that want to do day trips.
We stayed one night before a morning flight home.
The room we booked was a small queen room as we were only there for the night. The hotel buildings were quite old but the room inside had been renovated. As advertised the room was small and basic.
Every time you turned on the TV it has no volume so you had to turn the TV off at the wall to reset the satellite signal to get sound. The bed was ok, not particularly comfortable but not terrible. The air-conditioning worked well so the room was cool enough.
The bathroom was small and when you opened the door to the bathroom it blocked off the shower.
There is no free WiFi in the rooms, only in the lobby area. The internet wasn't that reliable even in the lobby. Reception said there was also issues with internet access in the rooms for those who paid for it.
The hotel has 2 pools, neither of which we used. A small "quiet" pool near the restaurant and a larger pool at the back with a waterslide. There was a gym also, but you needed to ask reception to access which was weird.
We ate dinner at the hotel and the food wasn't bad. Big servings but a little bit bland.
We used the free shuttle bus the following morning to get to the international departures. We were picked up quickly and thought the service was good.
Overall, the hotel served its purpose for us as an airport hotel for a one night stay.
The day before we left Nadi I called twice to confirm it was ok for my family of 6 to book in day passes for the day before our departure. Two times i called and both times I was told it’s ok and to come in. We book our taxi’s to go there and we were told we couldn’t get day passes as we weren’t travelling to the airport/transit on the same day? I was dealing with a lovely lady Asinate who was very apologetic about it and she tried again to see if we could get day passes and her manager said no. Her manager was standing right near us and he didn’t think to deal with us directly and explain to us. He even went back behind the counter and hid instead of dealing with potential customers I found him so rude and inconsiderate. Best time in FIJI except for this experience. Asinate was great and got us a taxi van to another hotel she recommended and I am so glad that she is one of the first faces that greet you at that place. Manager needs to get in the bin. Thanks
We stayed at the Fiji Gateway when construction of its new wing was nearing completion. Construction fencing and noise were still quite evident and made the whole place less attractive than it may eventually be. But there is no hotel in Nadi with more convenient access to the airport. The hotel’s free shuttle runs virtually full time and the ride to the terminal was about 5 minutes. Surprisingly, we weren’t bothered by noise from planes taking off. There just aren’t that many. Balancing the unsightly construction were many positive things. Our deluxe double room was spotless and very spacious (almost suite-like). Food in the poolside restaurant was solid and reasonably priced. And the staff was uniformly warm and welcoming. It’s good to be aware that there’s not much to walk to around the hotel, but arranging transport to where we wanted to go wasn’t hard. We took a taxi to nearby Namako for lunch one day and walked back (a little less than two miles). Our outings (to the culture village and to Denarau Marina for a day-sailing trip) both included pickup at the Fiji Gateway. And a 15-minute taxi ride to and from the Garden of the Sleeping Giant was 200 Fijian dollars (about $9) each way.
Across the street from the airport. Restaurant on site. Pools on site. Helpful and friendly staff.
Rooms were small but clean and comfortable BUT there is very little sound barrier between rooms and exterior.
While the hotel spent a lot of money on ‘good to have’ facilities, such as swimming pools, gyms/spas, and tennis courts, it neglected the very basics such as their hotel rooms. Our room had stains on the wall, hair in the bedsheets and worst of all, the tap water did not even work. Improvement is urgently needed here.
Clean room, short stay, ideal & handy to Airport
Excellent
Restaurant in house was excellent. Lovely staff as per normal with the Fijian people.
Quiet peaceful green surroundings. Water pressure was low during night only probably due to construction.
Free and efficient airport shuttle.
Highly recommended resort
Always a fantastic stay on the way out to the airport. Great rooms, facilities and restaurant. Staff are great always! My number one choice for an overnight before travel.
