Located right on Durango Main Street. Good breakfast.
Could have provided cream cheese and peanut butter for breakfast.
It was very nice, historic location.
Location - walkable to everything in Durango.
I am a western author. My wife and I love the historic atmosphere here.
Everything about this hotel was fantastic. The staff were very friendly and helpful, the room could not be faulted. The location was in the middle of Durango, close to shops and restaurants. If you are going on the railway to Silverton you could not be closer.
The breakfast was very good - hot and cold items available. There was coffee and cookies available throughout the day in the lobby.

This was a great location in downtown, it has a beautiful restoration and is definitely a hidden gem! Highly recommend.

The location was on the edge of downtown, which is easy to walk around! The hotel made you feel welcome! The hotel offers good deal that includes parking without any worries.
Great Location. Wonderful Staff. Clean, Comfortable, and Charming beyond belief.
Will stop again as we travel through Durango occasionally.
We have stayed at other hotels downtown, the General Palmer is outstanding. This is one of the best maintained hotels I have ever stayed in. The bed was really high for my 5’2” bride of 60 years. We tried our ice chest it was to high for her to step on to we asked the front desk if the had a short stepping stole and ny golly they found one. The bed was very good, the room was very clean and well maintained. I want thank staff for taking such good care of us. The cookies are wonderful and the light breakfast is delicious.
The friendly staff and a wonderful historical building

The original General Palmer Hotel is an exceptional and beautifully preserved example of a historic period hotel from the late 1800s. The history associated with the hotel is also a remarkable part of its charm. Regrettably, we were assigned to a wing referred to as 'the palace.' This setting resembled more a bait-and-switch for our accommodation, which more closely resembled an apartment complex; it might have been more appropriately named 'the brothel' and decorated as a boudoir to align with the era and better match the main General Palmer building. The palace wing is located down the street in a separate structure, where guests are informed they must ascend two flights of stairs to reach their room. While we were aware of this, we were not informed prior to arrival that our room would be situated in a separate building, which was a significant disappointment. The accommodations are indeed pleasant. The staff are truly lovely, offering excellent guidance for tours and demonstrating high levels of hospitality. The hotel provides a satisfying breakfast in a beautifully decorated dining room. Multiple seating areas are available throughout the lobby, all tastefully decorated to reflect the historical period. Guests are welcomed with warm cookies upon arrival. Our main disappointment was discovering that our room was not located within the original hotel structure. However, we appreciated the presence of an outside ice and water machine near our room, as well as a pleasant outdoor patio, which could benefit from some updates. Some furnishings within our room also required upgrading; nevertheless, the bed was comfortable, the air conditioning operated quietly, and the overall cleanliness was excellent.
You are also right next to the Silverton, Durango, train station and wonderful museum. It was fun to watch the train come and go, and it was not a deterrent to staying here. There is an excellent Thai restaurant and an Italian restaurant in the palace swing structure, both offer excellent dining options
This is an exceptional hotel in a fantastic location. If we had known how good this hotel is we would have stayed 2 nights to fully appreciate the history of this hotel and its location
Cool historic hotel in downtown Durango. Beautiful old lobby. Room was small but comfortable, nicely upgraded. Included breakfast was ample with some hot items. Parking on site.
Like many older hotels the walls are thin, not much they can do about that. Could hear every word of my neighbor's lengthy phone calls. No amenities to speak of in the room (coffee maker, fridge etc.).
Neat old hotel right in the middle of downtown town. Great location and fabulous staff! Chandler knew everything about the history of the hotel and was great filling us in upon arrival. Caleb was very attentive as well. Great staff!
Great Customer service
Same breakfast everyday. A change would improve my stay
