I didn’t like the pillows but the bed was so comfotrable
The first impression, the lobby, the staff (warm and welcoming). The restaurant is a must - we ate the best pork belly ever, also Friday roast dinner was delicious and good value. Cosy ambience with fire place and warm lights, plus lovely menu of comfort food. Russel, the Duty Manager made us feel welcome, nothing was an issue, she is friendly, elegant, attentive, helpful and prepared to run extra mile.
The room was spacious, love the toiletries (beautiful fragrance).
The place is close to the beach and shops.
The patio led to a nice well maintained garden.

A major music event was being held Friday/SAt/Sun. Not told about major menu dining choices until 2 days before.

Under staffed, tables not cleared. Music event meant that dining area had no space for guests staying dining as it was cluttered with 100+ other people listening to/watching music.
Bar was full and cluttered with people, not a peaceful time was had.
Had the best pillows and comfortable bed. Really wanted to take the pillow home 😂nice and clean and good sized room.
Found the room dark and bit chilly. Not enough lights and one wasn't working. Very high ceilings so with the heat pump on the heat seemed to rise.
Room was warm whenever we entered - kind staff had popped aircon on and it was really cold outside so we were very grateful. The cleanliness and comfort of the room was just a delight. We slept incredibly well.
Despite a Jazz festival, my room has been extremely quiet. Haven’t heard any traffic coming down the hill either.

We always stay at Scenic Hotel when visiting Paihia. Our fave hotel. Always consistent, clean, tidy, and the most comfortable beds. Room service is always good and friendly staff.
Veggie stack for brekky was deeeelish! Yummy roast dinner on Friday nights. We enjoyed the space. Shower was devine, nice and big with great water pressure. Awesome sized bathroom for the room. Comfy bed but we like a little firmness. Comfy seating. So cool to see a stereo in the room...lolz. Could hook up to it with our aux cord. 😆 Great to open the doors and get good breeze through the room.
