Wir waren nur ein Dach dort, und mir hat dieses Hotel direkt am Meer unglaublich gut gefallen. Off season, ein Familienbetrieb. Unglaublich leckere Küche. Für mich als Schwimmerin diese Bucht aus dem Hotel heraus unglaublich toll.
What a great relaxing destination; with easy access to tours and bus line. Antonio and Max were great and very welcoming! Room with sea view did not disappoint! Food and drinks were fantastic!
We were at the water’s edge. Watching the boats come and go. The weather was raining outside. We were warm and dry and had the best service. Meal was 10/10 table service was excellent. And we were made to feel like family. We would recommend this as your first choice.
This charming hotel converted from a former monastery is an absolute gem!
Situated as it is you really couldn't get closer to the sea, personally I think the setting in this beautiful bay is just perfect.
It's a great place for swimming, there are plenty of sun beds and umbrellas which are free for guests to use on the private section of the pebble beach; Massimo is on hand to erect and locate your umbrella and he is the lifeguard as well, keeping an eye on swimmers etc.
We had a large room to the side/rear of the building, equipped with a large double bed and two singles, a lovely bathroom and a terrace with two loungers, a table and two chairs. The room was air conditioned and had a fridge.
Daily maid service ensured that the room was spotlessly clean and fresh towels available on request.
The food offer is excellent, everything fresh and cooked to order; the menu is mainly fish and other seafood, all of which is beautifully presented although there two meat options; we only had the lamb which was delicious (order sides of sliced baked potatoes) but the beef we saw being served looked superb.
You must have the Spaghettone Del Nerano at least once during your stay, I think I had it three times during our 11 night stay (once for lunch).
And now to the staff...what can I say, they made our stay like home from home, lovely people, nothing was too much ask for; got to mention Alessandro who kindly rescued us when we became stranded in Sorrento one evening! He also came in early on the morning of our departure to make sure we had some delicious coffee before being picked up, he is a really nice guy.
I must mention Antonio, full of fun and very attentive, he is also very knowledgeable about dishes served in the restaurant; if you come here you're going to make friends with Alfonso who runs the hotel and all of his staff; honestly, after a couple of days we felt like family; they even surprised my wife with a birthday tiramisu one evening!
We were sad to be leaving but very happy to have stayed at this great place and met such lovely people...we will return but until next time Ciao Regazzi!
Beach frontage. Rooms with a view. Family run
Great hotel in a great location. I couldnt falt it in any way. Great staff, great food, very clean and very friendly. I would definitely vist here again and recommend to family and friends. Wonderful holiday all round. 5 stars
The staff are very friendly and helpful and the location could not be better.
Alphonso and his team were excellent. The rooms are a bit older but are very clean and functional. Convenient to everything in this small seaside town, including loading on boat tours to Amalfi, Positano and Capri right in front of the hotel. Food was excellent in their ocean front dining room. Highly recommend due to its quiet and tranquil environment while having ability to tour crowded towns of Amalfi and Positano. Beach was right in front of the hotel and towels and lounge chairs were included in the room cost, along with breakfast.

A cozy destination, away from heavy tourist activity. You know you are in a great gem when you meet as many local residents choosing here to vacation or weekend getaway. What was once a monastery is a charming hotel with a great rooftop view and private beach. Alfonso, Massimo and La Signora take care of you like guests at their personal home. Included breakfast is European style and home cooked meals during lunch and dinner. Located near the dock makes day trips to Capri, Amalfi and Positano very convenient. Great home base for those to experience our day trips. So many restaurants in the marina to enjoy each evening. Beach is beautiful and so refreshing in the hot summer days.
Couldn’t recommend this place enough. Beautiful, rustic hotel in a perfect location. Very spacious room and bathroom. Lovely and clean.
Had some of the best food I’ve ever had at the restaurant - so much so that I only ate at a different restaurant once!
This was my first solo trip and the staff were so friendly and made me feel right at home. Special thanks to Alfonso for being so helpful, Alessandro for the best cappuccino’s every morning, and of course my favourites Antonio and Massimo for being so attentive and keeping me entertained. They even helped me book day trips and my transport back to the airport.
Can’t wait to go back!!
Everything about the hotel confirmed the excellent reviews. It's a beautiful and peaceful place and staff are kind and attentive, Alessandro was lovely to talk to and very helpful. We had a comfortable room overlooking the bay and could hear the waves on the pebbles as we went to sleep and woke up. It's a good place to snorkel and there are great walks, we had Sunflower and Cicerone guides. It's a steep walk up to Nerano and Termini but worth it to see the local landscape, or you can get the bus. It's a good area for birds and butterflies and we met friendly local people on our walks. Do try the limoncello granita in the old art cafe at Nerano!
Great location on beach, sunbeds and parasols available. Traditional style but modern and clean, friendly family run, good food. Much better than expected - photos made it look dated but it wasn’t at all. Lovely breads at dinner.
Breakfast could be improved by some eggs, fresh juice and the lovely bread available at lunch at dinner being available.
Wanderfull holiday
Hotel immaculately clean, confortables beds, free beach, gorgeus food, continental breakfast included abundant and perfectly done overlooking the bay. Cant say enough about the staff, alfonso, alessandro and especially massimo and others. Always ready to help and assist you on everything you need.
Public buses to sorrento every hour and cheap. Excursions to capri, amalfi etc from outside hotel door.
We highly recommend this jewel and certainly be back in future.
Comfortable beachfront hotel with a restaurant to be able to eat breakfast, lunch and dinner. The property has steps but not as many as you would find in other areas of the Amalfi Coast. They also include the beach chairs. Plus, they have a convenient Boat Tour stand at the property where you can book day trips to Capri, Positano and Amalfi.
I arrived at Hotel la Certosa quite late (10pm) and Alfonso was incredibly welcoming, he even carried my suitcase up the stairs to my room for me (and it was heavy)! The hotel is beautiful and I felt like I was staying in someone’s home, rather than a standard commercial hotel. I’d emailed Alfonso a couple of times before arriving to ask a few questions and to check if my late arrival was ok, he always responded quickly and I immediately felt reassured and comfortable about staying here.
My room was lovely, and very clean. There was a small entrance which separated the main room and the bathroom, and I was delighted to find that I had a balcony which overlooked the mountain! The bed was much larger than I expected and the wardrobe easily fit all of my clothes in. The bathroom sink was a very good size and there was no issue with the shower pressure and temperature. My room was cleaned and the bed was made every day. The tourist tax for here is €2.50 per day, which I felt was very reasonable.
I had paid for bed and breakfast and I was not disappointed - I couldn’t believe the amount of food that was laid out on my table! There were croissants with different fillings; warm bread; jams and spreads; fruit; cold meats; cheese; yoghurts; cakes; and, of course, coffee! The cherry on top was the incredible view I had of Nerano Bay, absolutely stunning.
Staying at Hotel la Certosa means that you automatically have a sun lounger provided, so no need to rush to save a space! I had forgotten my beach towel but was immediately provided with one once I asked for it. After spending some time on the beach, I decided to have lunch at the hotel restaurant, Da Pappone. Once again, I was not disappointed. The Sorrento tomato and mozzarella salad and the seafood scialatielli were wonderful!
I was unsure about how to get to Sorrento, however the lady who works in the Alimentari Tabacchi shop over the road was incredibly helpful. She showed me the bus timetable and I was able to purchase bus tickets in the shop (€1.50 each way). It takes around an hour to get to Sorrento train station. The app I found most useful for travelling was the Unico Campania app. Here you can plan your route and pay for your tickets. I also used Google Maps to make sure I was going to the correct location for my excursion pick-ups.
As a solo traveller I was particularly nervous about travelling to Sorrento, Pompei and the Herculaneum, however the bus drivers and train ticket staff were always very helpful and friendly. They would always explain which bus would take me to Nerano Cantone (where Hotel la Certosa is) and which train or platform I needed for each journey.
One thing I didn’t realise about the trains is that the Campania Express charges €15 each way (Sorrento to Naples) because you are guaranteed a seat. However, I realised (from the Unico Campania app) that standard train tickets only cost €2.80/€3.50 each way, depending on your journey.
Towards the end of my stay, I decided that I wanted to visit Capri. Cooperativa S.Antonio were recommended and their excursions leave from directly outside the hotel. This is a fantastic day excursion and I was very grateful for the recommendation by the hotel.
On my final day my transport wasn’t due until 5pm, however Alfonso offered to let me keep my room until I was ready to leave. This was very much appreciated and made my final day much less stressful! I had an absolutely fantastic stay at Hotel la Certosa and would highly recommend others to stay here, particularly if you are a solo traveller.
The location is perfect. Room was clean and comfortable. Every morning we were served a buffet breakfast at our table overlooking the Mediterranean. Had lunch twice and food is delicious. Follow that with drinks on the beach. Small town with one store and many restaurants. A wonderful place to get away and really enjoy Italy without the crowds.
