Gladstone House met a particular need and I appreciated it.
Pros:

Great location for what I needed - to be near my daughter who is a student at UofT and living in the area.

Cons:

No breakfast-included option with booking. Beautiful old elevator, but it also made things a bit cumbersome. It worked ok.

Pros:

Very friendly staff. Beautiful room and facilities. Great cocktails.

Cons:

The room was very noisy from a local bar and the fan in the room was noisy but drowned out the bar noise a bit when it was on. We were told the next day that we could have asked to change rooms or get some relief from the noise.
Will know that for next time.

Perfect hotel in the best location, would definitely visit again!
Pros:

Stay here! This is a beautifully renovated building in the perfect location in a great part of town, with a really cool, relaxing atmosphere. Fantastic, friendly service and welcoming staff. We loved the breakfasts and dinner and happy hour drinks in cassette. Really enjoyed the pool table on the 3rd floor. Comfortable bed, great shower and perfectly sized rooms with all the amenities you could need for your stay. We did not want to leave! If we’re ever back in Toronto we would definitely come back, and would recommend to everyone!

Cons:

This did not ruin our stay but there was a noise outside our room (air con or something) that was relentlessly loud during the night and if we hadn’t had ear plugs I think we would have struggled to sleep. However, the guests with us who stayed in an other room had absolutely no issues with sound at all, despite being in a front facing room, a perfect stay.

Excellent boutique hotel
Pros:

Beautifully designed hotel with some fun features (love that cage-style elevator!) My room had plenty of space and the bed was extremely comfortable. The hotel's location in the west of the city works well if you plan to commute to the airport by taxi. You can walk to nearby restaurants and cafes. Finally, the hotel also sits on a streetcar line, making it easy to explore other parts of the city.

Cons:

I experienced no problems during my stay.

Rooms Are Dirty/Management Sucks
Pros:

Parking is a joke and you have to walk in and out of the garage by walking through a section that’s says vehicles only and has no side walk. The lobby is nice but once you get to your room you find out it hasn’t been properly cleaned, there is hair in the shower and in the sink. Once we did clean up the room ourselves, I took a shower and the whole bathroom was flooded because the drain is in between the glass and the toilet. The caulk in the bathroom was peeling and discolored and looked like a toddler applied it. The view from the room shows nothing but garbage and random objects thrown on the roof. No iron in room but they will provide a disgusting steamer that hasn’t been cleaned in who knows long. If you are forced to use it, your clothes will smell and you will get black particles all over your clothes. Last but not least do not use there make shift elevator!! It is dangerous and they definitely neglect maintenance. My wife injured herself and when we told them the next day they basically implied we were lying and why didn’t we report it sooner.

It was a positive experience overall.
Pros:

We were visiting family in the area. The location was why we picked it as they lived less than a 10 minute walk away.

Price was decent enough.

We ate breakfast in the restaurant and it was very good booth mornings. Menu was good and cost was reasonable.

Staff were polite and courteous.

Nicely decorated. The old elevator was classic.

Free wifi.

Cons:

There isn't really parking on site. There is some nearby though.

What was more challenging was that there wasn't a designated drop off/pick up area. That would have been helpful as we had to load/unload in a no parking zone.

I realize that the Gladstone is a boutique hotel --- however the room was a little small.

Pros:

Very cool place, cozy room, love all the art

Cons:

The staff weren’t super helpful. Room wasn’t ready at check in, when I requested parking I wasn’t told I’d need a fob after 10pm which caused chaos later in the evening with the parking garage. Just didn’t go the extra mile for anything (even though I’d let them know this was a celebration for a birthday and my first solo art show). The hotel is amazing, I just expected a little more given it’s a boutique hotel, not a budget stay.
