The hotel is a good base for seeing the area. It was clean tidy and rooms were serviced daily. It looked a bit tired and felt more like a 3 star hotel. Our room overlooked a building and was quite dark which was initially disappointing after reading about the views. There was plenty of hot water but the shower sprayed all over the place so I had baths instead. For 3 evenings we were unable to sit with our fellow Riviera Travel guests who were seated in the conservatory overlooking the lake as we were told they were reserved even though we all arrived together. We were sat in the brightly lit breakfast room with just one other couple. We were very unhappy with this and were planning to eat out for our Golden wedding celebration but were told a table had become available. Food was okay with choice from 4 courses which we had to choose the day before. The waiters did a lot of dashing around and I think it could have been made simpler with just 3 courses only more on plates. We received nothing in way of an apology for the previous evenings or as a token for our celebration from the hotel. Overall we had a lovely holiday bur it was such a shame the dining seating situation marred the experience..
A great hotel, always spotlessly clean. Having stayed at this hotel a number of years ago we chose it to celebrate our 50th wedding anniversary. It didn't disappoint. We had a spectacular view of Lake Garda and of the old square of Riva. The hotel provided the Trentino app. which gave us free access to local transport, entry to attractions and discount on lake ferries. The ferries started from just outside the hotel and although Riva is an ideal holiday base there are many other interesting resorts to visit around the lake. Breakfast provided a large range of foods to suit all tastes. Dinner comprised of four courses, the fish dishes were particularly good. It did mean that an evening stroll around Riva was required afterwards! There are nice walks along the lake edge, many sunbathing areas and "beaches" from which to swim. Although I have to say the cold water took a few minutes to acclimatize to! All in all a lovely and memorable holiday.
Location of this hotel is excellent. Reception staff are really friendly. Room cleaned daily friendly cleaner. Laura was very good and knowledgeable.
I would not recommend this hotel. We arrived on Monday air conditioning had been off since Saturday when we mentioned it we were told it would be off all week. They had no fans it was lovely sunny weather 26/28. Our room was like an oven so unpleasant and hot, really spoilt our holiday. The waiting staff were brusque and very rude anything you asked, was so much trouble. Dinner service was so unpleasant. Meals were pre booked the night before but you still had to wait. Imran the youngest waiter was really nice and friendly, nothing was too much trouble for him. Unlike the other two, especially the older one, so rude. The lady who stocked up the breakfast was really nice too.
The hotel is in a great location, and unfortunately their image of the views from the balcony is misleading, which was one of the reasons why we booked this hotel. The AC was broken when we checked in and it was broken the entire time of our stay. Their suggestion to us was to keep the windows/balcony doors open (which don't have any screens so bugs did fly in). They didn't offer us a fan or anything. When we checked out they told us that the AC was broken for a week now (before our arrival) and that their hands are tied and couldn't offer us any sort of discount - not even for the parking! We hadn't slept the entire time of our stay because we were on the first floor facing the city and the bars close at 2am so it was very loud and then stores start opening around 5am. They also didn't let us know upon check in that they had free city bikes for us to use (we paid and rented bikes). It would have been nice to let us know that the AC was broken when we arrived (at least offer us fans) as we would have found alternative options since this was a special vacation for us and we wanted to catch up on sleep, however, they were more concerned with profits.
Excellent location to explore Riva del Garda.
The staff were friendly.
The air conditioning was ‘broken’ which meant the room was hot throughout our stay and staff were vague when asked if this would be fixed.
The pool was a nice addition to the hotel and breakfast was good standard every day although no variety, same each day.
The room we had was fairly basic but clean, the bathroom wasn’t great, not much room to manoeuvre - anyone tall staying in that room would really struggle fitting under the shower! We had requested a quiet room so think this may be why we were in the room at far top corner of hotel. The bed and pillows weren’t our favourite but comfortable enough.
Only other negative was that the room used to store our luggage after check out was wide open and people in there for a meeting on our return - there is no system to ensure luggage is collected by owner only. Luckily we had no issues and our luggage was there but could be very different!
This sounds like a bad review, it was a good hotel for us as we hardly used the room as out exploring - just a few minor things that let it down!
Enjoyed our stay as part of a Leons Holidays tour. Great location handy for most of Riva's attractions. Friendly helpful staff. Clean well serviced room. (Very prompt attention to a minor problem). Good food, breakfast buffet plentiful, but dinner was a bit chaotic at times, probably because some guests in our group seemingly fail to recall their choices for the four courses! One downside - just lacking a bar for pre-dinner drinks or after-meal coffees
Great hotel, close to everything. Especially nice breakfast. Somewhat disapointed that the parking was fully booked and we had to find another spot further away; we choose this one party due to parking beeing avaiable according to website. Staff was helpfull though.
Very nice hotel located close to the lake. Our room was small. The pillows were uncomfortable.
Great hotel, in an amazing position, staff were fabulous and
perfect position....pool is small but great for a cooling dip at the end of the day. Only complaint our room had 2 windows facing the building next door...but it was so hot we were nt that worried.
Great location and very convenient to lots of restaurants and to the waterfront and boat excursions.
Very nice room although we did not have much chance to enjoy the terrace.
Parking situation was a drawback. A level of a local parking garage is set aside and they register your license plate, but I could not enter that specific level and when I tried to exit I had the same problem. When I called the front desk, they seemed to not know what to do or how to get a hold of the owner/manager of the parking garage. In the end, I just had to wait and quickly follow another car out.
We stayed in the Europa in 2019 and it was excellent so rebooked this year. Hotel is in a perfect situation and was clean and comfortable. However, the food was very disappointing, unimaginative and not worthy of a 4 star hotel! No salad buffet, I don’t expect to get lumpy mashed potato, frozen vegetables and slightly over cooked fish! Last time the food was wonderful with lovely desserts which you selected from a buffet. Not so this time, poor choice and a lot of cake with squirty cream. The restaurant staff were inexperienced and I agree with another reviewer who described the restaurant manager as brusque, we found him downright rude on occasions, not attentive. Sorry but although we had a lovely holiday, I’m afraid we won’t book again!
A bit shabby and worn out
Our second time visiting this lovely hotel right in the centre of Riva del Garda. Friendly staff, clean rooms and good food.
