Classic Hotel Am Stetteneck

An absolutely perfect location to explore the Dolomites. The staff were super friendly and helpful. Breakfast and dinner were exceptional as were the staff. The facilities eg pool, sauna and spa were very welcome when returning from a big day of hiking.

My sister and I stayed at this charming hotel in early August 2026.
This small family hotel is full of charm that makes it a home away from home.
The hotel staff is very friendly, starting from the reception and continuing through the housekeeping team, the kitchen staff and the chefs, and the overall warm and welcoming atmosphere of the hotel.
The clean and tidy room with a magnificent view of the Dolomites is equipped with everything you need as a hotel guest.
A basic, clean and modern bathroom.
A rich and wonderful breakfast, plus dinner served according to a treatment that is coordinated with you in the morning. In short, a wonderful culinary experience.
The hotel has parking, which is reasonably priced, but the number of spaces is limited, so it is worth coordinating in advance.
The hotel is located in the center of town, close to the two cable cars that will take you to the magnificent viewpoints of the Dolomites.
The town itself is of course located in the heart of the region and as a great starting point for tours in the area.
In short - a magical vacation that I would love to return to again.

In my opinion, there is no better base to explore the Dolomites than Ortisei, and there is no better hotel to stay in Ortisei than the Stetteneck.

It was our second time to visit at the Classic Hotel Am Stetteneck, this time bringing our adult children and my octogenarian father-in-law. And they all fell in love with it as much as we did on our first stay in 2024.

Just a few of the things we love about the hotel:
- Location...near the top of the pedestrian zone, a short walk to the lifts, shopping, restaurants, etc.
- Breakfasts...on our first visit in 2024, we booked the "breakfast included" rate since we didn't know the town that well. And it is so good, we booked that again. Great range of meats, fruits, bread/pastries, etc.
- Dinner...having eaten at a few of the restaurants in town, I can say without hesitation that if the in-house restaurant at the Stetteneck was open to the public, it would be among the top-rated establishments in town. Plus it's a great value.
- Staff/Service...Andrea (manager), Silicia (front desk), and Sobi (restaurant captain) are all very gracious and remembered my wife and I from our previous visit. We met some new folks this time around as well, and all exude the same warmth and hospitality.

The rooms are well-appointed. The small spa/pool on site is the perfect place to recover after a morning of hiking.

Great location, a charming room, delicious breakfast and course dinner. The staff were all kind, friendly and working hard. We stayed a week and truly enjoyed this hotel. The indoor pool was also amazing!

My wife and I stayed here for 4 nights in September of 2026. The hotel was very nice. Our room was excellent. The food was very good. Overall an excellent choice for our home base while we explored the Dolomites. We had easy access (walking) to Seceda and Alpe di Siusi. The staff brought the experience up a notch. They were extremely helpful (recommendations and reservations) as well as friendly. Highly recommend.

The Stetteneck seems to be a Hotel that guests return to year after year, as the experience is so memorable. The Hotel is a lovely alpine building right in the center of town close to the gondolas, funicular, shops and restaurants. Our three night stay was the highlight of a multi city trip through Italy and Switzerland. The hotel is spotless with charming and very inviting common areas- lobby/bar , outdoor terrace for reading, drinks or a meal, and a beautiful traditional dining room where breakfast and dinner are served. The hotel was filled with Italian couples and families celebrating the August national holiday and a few foreign tourists, all of whom enjoyed the common areas, giving an atmosphere of conviviality. We opted for half board (highly recommended) which included a generous breakfast and multi course dinners of unusually high quality. The quality of the meals, the professional presentation and very gracious service went way beyond our expectations and what we experienced at comparable hotels in France, Switzerland and Italy. Each dinner began with a wonderful salad/antipasti bar with beautifully prepared vegetables, cheeses, and some specialty products like a cheese and ham strudel. The dinner itself was a three course meal, beautifully prepared and typically with a choice of two items per course. We found the dinners to be first rate, and more enjoyable than several Michelin starred meals we’ve had in France and Italy. The hotel organizes additional activities for its guests- such as drinks at their sister hotel’s garden to celebrate the holiday, a barbecue, etc. The indoor pool and sauna were wonderful to unwind and relax in after a day of hiking.
What stands out most about this hotel is how well run it is and how well it takes care of its guests. Each employee, without exception, was professional, helpful and genuinely caring. The dining staff were all courteous, attentive and superb at their jobs. The reception staff were informative and helpful- going above and beyond what was required. For example, we departed very early while the hotel was closed. Without having to ask, we were left sandwiches, fruit and drinks for the trip. Hotel and staff should be commended for making their guests’ stays so comfortable and memorable and for upholding high standards across the board. As for Ortisei- it’s a picture-perfect Alpine town- with amazing views of the Dolomites and relatively easy to get to from Milan (3 hour train to Bolzano and 1 hour bus Sudtirol to Ortisei). Most enjoyable for us was taking the Funicular up and doing the short walk to the Resciesa inn, where the views were breathtaking and we had drinks in deck chairs overlooking the mountains and a group of cows grazing right in front of us. We also recommend a visit to the Dolomite Museum right in town for some interesting history of Ortisei and the Dolomites. In sum, we can’t recommend Stetteneck and the half board highly enough and are already planning a return trip next year.

Lovely room and nice beds, the best location for seeing the local area and even basing yourself from there.

I absolutely loved this hotel. It is situated directly in the heart of town so that you have beautiful views and can walk to everything in just a few minutes. The staff was incredibly helpful and friendly. Micole at the front desk was particularly kind. They accepted my service animal and even provided a new dog bed, food and dog bowl in my room for her which was above and beyond. The hotel offers excellent activities for its guests and I highly recommend doing the hut lunch that you can either hike or take the bus and have a lovely prepared meal and drinks at the foot of the Dolomites. And don’t miss the lovely spa and pool. Parking on site was very helpful. And I signed up for the half board so dinner was included in my stay and the food was excellent. Highly recommended!!!!
