Stayed at the Adua for a week with a (well organized) Newmarket tour.
We had a pleasant room (310) which had an excellent bathroom and quiet and effective aircon. The public rooms were beautifully furnished and the restaurant was excellent with good food and brilliant staff. In fact the staff throughout were very good, providing faultless service. Highly recommended
The hotel is tired, and most of the staff could care less about pleasing the customers. It’s situated on a dirty street, and there are much prettier places in the town. Our room was fine, and the air conditioning was good. The breakfast wasn’t very good, and the breakfast staff were surly. Alberto and Philomina at the front desk were friendly and helpful. My overall opinion is to stay somewhere else.
My wife and I spent a very pleasant week here as part of a package. We found the staff very welcoming and helpful, and nothing was too much trouble. Like most well established Italian towns, the buildings are very old, but this has been adapted quite well to a hotel. The size of the rooms is variable, so best to check first to avoid disappointment. We had everything we needed and it was comfortable. The hotel is pet friendly and there was even a parrot during our stay. We had the most wonderful massage which was so relaxing and there is a nice open air pool with sun beds and tables if one wishes to have coffee outside. Near reception there are many comfortable chairs and sofas if you want to chill. The breakfast had ample choices of good food to cater for all tastes. The hotel is very close to the town centre and railway station with great shops including big names and there are all types of restaurants and other facilities to enjoy. The Adua Hotel is a place to which I would return.
Well appointed rooms, mine had a balcony seat and bistro table, safe with key for valuables, the bathroom pristine, large shower cubicle, crips towels bidet. air con in rooms and rest of hotel. well equipped bar, multilingual staff, restaurant open breakfast and evening meals, food is local themed and very filling. Attentive staff but unobtrusive. extensive wine cellar, reception area very comfortable, no flaking paint or scrapes on decor to indicate wear and tear. small lifts to floors, max 3 persons or 2 with luggage, swimming pool on site.
A very nice hotel with a very decent lounge area for guests, which is comfortable. Centrally located for all the major Tuscan highlights and in a quietish area. Rooms cleaned every day and towels changed, the maids do a great job.
Staff are fantastic, they really looked after our group from Newmarket Holidays. Special thanks to Ylenia, Loulay (I hope I have that right) and Erica. You were all such lovely people.
Food was a bit hit and miss, I was surprised that the main courses weren't more influenced by Italian cuisine. There were pasta dishes (anti pasta mainly) but we did feel that the main courses were a bit bland and needed some lifting.
I've seen some comments on Tripadvisor about how good the breakfasts were and I'm not sure what some people saw as being so good. There were the usual yoghurt, fruit (but not much choice), fresh croissants etc but the only hot offerings on a daily basis were scrambled egg and bacon. No variation, same thing each day.
In my opinion breakfast was poor and needs some thought, it wouldn't take much. And the location of the central table for guests to use at mealtimes is in entirely the wrong place. we had people banging into chairs on our table when they were helping themselves from the small buffet. This table needs to be relocated to the outer wall at the end of the room, next to the breakfast bar.
The last point was the aircon which doesn't come on until 1st June. This is ridiculous as the bedrooms were very hot and sleeping with the windows open makes it too noisy. Please consider changing this and making it temperature dependent and not date dependent as it makes no sense. All of our party (19 I think) had trouble sleeping due to the heat. You really could do this better.
All that said I would recommend this hotel but bear these points in mind.
This was a great hotel just a short stroll to the town centre where there was a wide range of shops, bars and cafes. Our balcony room needed a little TLC but was clean and tidy. Considering we were part of a Newmarket Holidays group, we thought the room offered good value for money.
Public rooms were comfortably furnished and well decorated. With a few minor exceptions, all the hotel staff we encountered were friendly, helpful and polite. There was a good choice of food on offer in the dining room.
We enjoyed our time at the Adua hotel and would happily stay there again if we were in Montecatini.
Hotel Adua was our base for a tour of Tuscany with Newmarket Holidays. The hotel itself is nice with a smart reception/lounge and clean, practical rooms but what sets it apart is the staff. Sara on reception could not be more accommodating and in the evenings Luli on the bar and dining room and Ylenia our waitress are so friendly and helpful. Despite how busy they were I never saw either without a smile on their face.
The only downside was that the A/C isn’t turned on until June meaning we had to sleep with the balcony door open and our room overlooked a street that got quite lively at night.
The location of this hotel is perfect for all that Montecatini has to offer. Down stairs the reception and bar area are up to date and boutique style. The twin room shard by my friend and I was dated and small but perfectly adequate with a narrow bathroom but perfectly adequate shower. Cleaning was of a high standard and the cleaners were very friendly. We were staying as part of a Newmarket Travel holiday and the food served to us seemed to be different to that which other guests were enjoying. It wasn't the best. Dinners were repetitive and bland. Breakfast however was super great range of continental produce to choose from. The staff were probably the best thing about the hotel, welcoming, smiling, friendly, helpful, polite and engaging and Yelena with her smiling face and desire to ensure you enjoyed everything was outstanding, she is a real asset to the hotel. We didn't use the spa or swimming pool largely we were too busy but second until we arrived we had no idea that one needed to hire flip flops, robe and swim cap and to be frank the prices were a little high. Our Newmarket Rep Ana was fantastic you couldn't fault her on anyway. I'd stay at the hotel again, the staff and it's location make up for any small areas that could be improved. So I feel confident in recommending it.
Just returned from staying at this hotel whilst on a visit to the area with Newmarket holidays.
I should like to stress how pleasant and friendly all the staff were and they could not do enough for you. The food was excellent and the facilities good.
I would definitely recommend it.
Pleasant hotel with friendly staff. Food was good and room clean. Location 5 minutes from many shops, restaurants and cafes. There is some form of training/ college facility adjacent to one side of the hotel. So if you have a balcony you may be viewed by students in a classroom. When we stayed there were large groups of students staying in the local hotels. On our last night we also had a couple of groups book in. They were very polite but inevitable noisy.
I would not recommend this hotel to anyone, the hotel staff at the front desk was NOT helpful at all. I really don't understand why anyone who take my prescription glasses out of my suit case. I really do not like to accuse anyone of stealing, but I fly with my glasses and wear contacts during a the day.
The stay a Hotel Adua was a huge disappointment.
Earlier this month we travelled with Newmarket Holidays where we stayed for a week in the Hotel Adua. We had a twin room with balcony which we paid extra for. In general we thought the hotel was excellent. The staff, in particular the restaurant staff where fantastic. Very friendly and helpful.
The room was not huge but was big enough for two people. The bathroom was also a good size. The beds were very comfortable. The small negatives for me were: 1. The room decoration and furniture was basic and not in line with what you see downstairs. The bed pretended to be a 4 poster but it only had a wooden frame and the beds were twins not double, 2. There was no kettle to make tea or coffee..i dont think its usual in Italy to have them but us Brits need it and 3. We could not really use the balcony. It was small and only had 2 plastic chairs. There was no table and if you sat out you couldnt see much.
The breakfast choice was reasonable and spread round the room so the queues didnt build up too much. Evening meal, we had 4/5 courses with a choice of starters and main courses. Some of the food I found quite bland and needed seasoning. The main course you normally had choice of meat or fish. There was no potatoes offered each night, we only had them on 2 nights.
Only other comment i would make is that it was a bit of shambles when we arrived. The coach could not come down the street but it was only a short walk. The hotel send up a luggage trolley but we spent so much time waiting around we just took our own.
We would stay at the same hotel again, as the negatives were only small really. And the staff were wonderful.
Stayed at Hotel last week with Newmarket Holidays. I had injured my leg 2days before so wasn’t sure if I would cope with excursions but was able 2 enjoy them all thanks 2 the support given by tour manager Daniela and my fellow passengers. The hotel was excellent in a good location with easy access 2 train and bus station and funicular railway The indoor pool and jacuzzi was a bonus. My single room was small but double bed and plenty of cupboard space. Well maintained by friendly staff. The lounge area was comfortable and decor excellent a lovely place 2 relax after dinner. Breakfast was great with lots of choice even a waffle maker! We enjoyed 4 course dinners plus a varied salad bar. Hotel is so well organised helpful reception and bar staff but special mention must go 2 Ylenia our waitress who has the best smile ever and goes out of her way 2 look after u nothing is too much trouble even at 6.00 am breakfast before leaving for airport!
Attended this hotel with my wife from 25/09 till the 02/10, we went with Newmarket holidays.
We were on the 3rd floor had no balcony and not much of a view but we only slept in the room so that would have been wasted anyway.
The hotel was clean and the lobby area very comfy, the meals were of a good standard and the lovely Yellena was an absolute treasure and worked so hard to make us welcome
Nothing was too much trouble and she is a credit to the hotel
I visited this Hotel whilst I was on a Newmarket Tour. It would have been 5 stars if it had not been for the view from my hotel window.
I always try to be fair in what I write. So I think that I should put that from my experience it appears that hotels in Italy are struggling since covid. If like me you previously visited Italy pre covid, you will have noticed that standards are not as high as they once were. You no longer get the extras in your room. My guess is that hotels are trying to save every penny that they can.
With regards to the Hotel Adua I would like to say that what gives this hotel the edge is their staff. They are so friendly and helpful. Also they work so hard.
Rooms: my room was 103. It is a reasonable sized room with a good sized shower room. Decorated in the traditional style. If you open the shutter the view really lets it down. You look out onto the top of a building and a very dilapidated view of the rear of the hotel. On the roof of the building was a lot of builers rubbish. It would improve it if the back of the hotel was painted as the front has been and the rubbish cleared away.
The rest of the hotel is well maintained and again decorated in a traditional style.
Restaurant: we had breakfast and evening meals included in our package price. The food was a very good standard. The breakfast had hot and cold buffet. There was a machine for coffee along with a freshly made coffee. So you could choose which ever you fancied.
I am a vegetarian and once the waitress was told that a party had two vegetarians they gave us a menu every night so we had a selection to choose from. There were 5 courses on the menu including the salad bar. The food was very good. They also cater for food allergies, such as nuts and gluten free. You just have to ensure that they are told. Our waitress was Ellainer. Nothing was to much trouble for her. She got to know people's requirements and was always ready to supply what you required. She is an absolutely treasure and works very hard.
The hotel has a spar as well, but I did not try it out.
Montecatini Terme is a good central place for a tour of the area. If you ho there for do not miss going up to Montecatini Alto. This place is the jewel in the crown. The views are spectacular. Also it is a pretty little town with nice gift shops at reasonable prices.
Hotel abbastanza centrale con un bel centro benessere, cordialità del personale in particolar modo la Signora del centro benessere, l'unica nota negativa l'insonorizzazione é impossibile dormire, si sentono anche i più piccoli rumori
