Stayed here on a tour with the Travel Department the hotel is located in a residential area 15 minutes walk from the town and 5 mins from the funicular to Montecatini Alto
The room was tiny with 2 small single beds and very noisy from other rooms and dogs barking all night from houses near by but clean could not fault cleaning staff
We were half board the breakfast was as expected but the dinner was awful with bad service and attitude from some of the serving staff was very rude particularly the male server
Was forced to sit at the same table at each meal for some unknown reason .
Would not be recommended this hotel or this area as the town is very quite and far away from the main cities to visit in Tuscany
Struttura pulita e ben attrezzata, si trova a circa 300 metri dalla funicolare. Personale gentile e disponibile. Assolutamente pet friendly
For 5 days I visited towns in Tuscany :
Florence, Pisa, Siena,Cinque Terre. It was five wonderful days, in which we admired the beauties, the monuments and the history of Tuscany. And the city where the hotel is located delighted us.We will definitely come back.
This hotel is in a very good location, only a short walk into the centre of Montecatini Terme and just round the corner from the funicular. The hotel was clean and our room was very well serviced daily. The staff were friendly and helpful. The hotel has a small pool which is rather exposed to the passing traffic on the road. There was a nice bar area although supplies in the bar seemed to run out at one stage. The only real downside to our stay was the quality of the food.We were half board and although the breakfast was just about acceptable the evening meals were not.On occasion inedible ,so much was returned to the kitchen such a waste. We love Italian food and were so disappointed. In fact many of our group of friends chose to eat elsewhere including ourselves even though we had paid for this awful food. My advice if choosing to stay at this hotel is to try and book bed and breakfast and eat at some very good restaurants in both Montecatini Terme and in particular Montecatini Alto
I had the most amazing room with a lovely balcony and the most wonderful panoramic view of the scenery. The food was delicious and the deserts were a delicious surprise every night. I love this hotel so much I came back a second time. I hope I get a chance to visit it again. Definitely recommend it
Just back from trip with travel department. This hotel was very disappointing. Dark reception area. Small basic rooms. Air conditioning not working properly. Extremely warm and uncomfortable. The food was really bad. First night fine and after that awful. We went out 4 of the 7 nights. Also we couldn't pay our bill for drinks and water till the end of the week. I have never seen this in any other hotel. Definitely not 4 star.
Just back from Solo Classic Tuscany trip with Travel Department as always was very pleased overall with service. However would warn that the food in the Hotel Michangelo was way below acceptable. Breakfast was good but could do with proper juices they all tasted like diluted squash. The evening meals were very poor, a lot of fellow travellers ate out most evenings. The first night was good but went rapidly downhill, our tour guide addressed it with the hotel and on last night meal was better. Disappointing food and one night the hotel bar had run out of a lot of basic spirits ... we were told it was a delayed order. Also no tea/coffee facilities in room. Other than the food, the hotel a little dated could do with a little modernising and with phone usb chargers, but was clean, staff were lovely but food let them down. Also could be very noisy as you could hear from the rooms beside you ... toilets flushing, showers going, drawers being opened and closed (that was from a good few people not just that i had noisy people in room beside me). The empty bottles were put into the recycling bin very early every morning and was quite a noisy time around 6.30am. The trips were great and guide Tabatha was lovely lady and very helpful.
Excellent location of the hotel, friendly and helpful personnel, clean and well enough furnished room for the price category, all in all excellent price to quality ratio. There is room for improving breakfast food variety and menu choice, and elevators could be upgraded. But, all in all an excellent experience.
My wife and I recently returned from a 4-night stay at the Hotel Michelangelo. We initially planned to stay for 9 nights but changed our minds after the first night.
We arrived on a wet and miserable Tuesday evening. When we entered the hotel, it was very dark, and our initial impression was that it was deserted. We noticed the reception area on our left. We approached the desk and saw that there were two members of staff on duty, a man slouched on a chair behind the desk, and a lady in the background. They both looked in our direction, but we did not receive a welcome of any description. I spoke up and gave our names. The keys to our room were handed to us along with the directions to the room and directions to the restaurant.
We took the smallest lift we were ever in, to our room on the first floor. As we planned on a long stay we booked a superior room. We had a look around and were quite disappointed with the room we were allocated. In our view there was nothing ‘superior’ about the room; it was very basic and rather small. We requested a double bed, but we got two singles joined together. The bed was about as small as you could get for two and the mattresses felt like blocks of concrete. We looked at the balcony. There were two pairs of underpants on view, one male and one female and some other item of clothing. We went back down to reception to check if we had the correct room. The guy that was slouched on the chair told us that this was a superior room. We said that we could not see anything ‘superior’ about it and that it didn’t really match what we had seen online. His response was that he only worked there, and it was superior because it was redecorated more recently than other rooms. We weren’t sure that that meant but, in our view, it might have been more than a decade ago! We told the guy about the items of clothing. He said that they must have blown down in the wind. Given that the clothing was still there when we left 4 days later God knows how long it had been there. It is probably still there now. We were not offered any alternative room.
Still on the subject of the room the shower was very poor. The shower head could have done with unblocking. One good thing was that the room was clean inside.
For convenience we booked dinner in the hotel for the first night. Initially we thought the food was fine until it came to the main course. My wife ordered Lasagna. This too seemed okay at first until my wife told me it was FROZEN in the centre. I thought my wife was joking but it turned out she wasn’t. We had to send it back and my wife just had chips instead. After some time, the waiter came back to the table to apologise. It shouldn’t have been up to the waiter to apologise and no manager came near us to offer an apology. For the full duration of our stay, we had the impression that there was no manager on duty in the hotel. We wondered if we were going to be charged for the Lasagna at the end of our stay. It turns out that we were not, but we were charged for everything else! In most establishments in Ireland there would have been no charge at all if something as bad as this happened.
In addition to the issue with the food we were seated beside a rep from a travel company. After a short time, another lady approached her table, remained standing, and both engaged in conversation at very high volume. This was extremely annoying and other guests approached us after the meal to mention how rude this pair were. They too were disturbed. No member of staff intervened to instruct them to keep the volume down.
As a result of the dinner fiasco, we avoided eating any more food that had been ‘cooked’ in the hotel. Breakfast was fairly basic. The orange juice in particular tasted like it had a lot of added water.
We made up our mind on the first night to cut our losses and look for an earlier flight home.
Aside from the food, the second health and safety issue was the aversion the staff had to turning on the lights. This was particularly noticeable on the stairs where the lights were never on. I managed to find the switch and turn them on when we were going up but I wasn’t sure where the switch was when going down. In general, the hotel was very dark. The brown blinds throughout the ground floor didn’t help. They also made the décor look dated. We did not feel safe in the hotel.
We could not recommend this hotel.
Perfect
Excellent
Lovely Hotel with very help full staff - good food but air conditioning was not working which made it very difficult to sleep.
No tea/coffee making facilities in rooms.
Also a Wine bottle opener would be useful in the room .
Lovely Spa treatments available in hotel.
Really lovely food and comfortable, friendly atmosphere. Really enjoyed my time there, staff are wonderful. I was alone and always felt completely safe, clean and tidy rooms and big restaurant. Great variety of local wines. Will be going back!
Great hotel, in a great location with anmazing views. Amazing staff, very helpful professional, felt like they were good friends. Rooms are clean, and generally very nice. I stayed with teenage son and we were both happy with everything . Thank you.
Both the property and Montecatini have seen better days. We were given a small room on the first floor with limited views and an unappealing balcony. The AC unit was noisy. The property gets some traffic from bus tours but otherwise seemed fairly quiet.
