Grand Hotel De Rose

What a lovely hotel with a ton of character! Located at the end of the 'beach strip', it was nice and quiet, with an amazing view of the town, the beach and the coastline.
Our room was comfortable, and our view from the balcony was 10 out of 10.
There was a mini-fridge in the room stocked with water, but for some reason, guests are not allowed to store their own food or drinks inside (penalty is 5 euros/day) - we found this strange?
The staff were super friendly and helpful. Buffet breakfast was really good - and the eating area had floor to ceiling windows with views of the beach. The pool was nice, warm and clean. Great location, just a 10-minute walk to shopping and restaurants. On Monday morning, there is an open market in the city center that was a lot of fun to visit! Staying at Scalea was definitely one of the highlights of our Italy trip - it was beautiful, quiet, and resort-like. We really enjoyed staying at the Grand Hotel De Rose and hope to stay there again.

This hotel is totally fine. The staff is lovely and the beach is fabulous. The hotel has its own private beach (but you need to have your own towel?) The room is nice and spacious but I’d love it to be a bit cooler. It’s okay, but I like it colder. The bed is definitely meh. Drink some wine. The town center isn’t the cleanest either but the hotel and beach are very clean . And It doesn’t feel like a tourist trap. We were told many Italians vacation here and we believe it as we haven’t found many non Italians here at all.

The location and beach access was fantastic. Room was clean but this hotel is in need of an update. Furniture and linens look well used. They also have an ant problem. Even though we didn’t have food in the room, we found quite a few ants.

The property was great. Our room has beautiful view to the sea. Walking 2 minutes from our is amazing private beach. We enjoy our stay on our trip from Palermo to Rome.

Hotel is very cute and stile. Managment very good in helpfull. Baech is wonderful and so close to the hotel.

Attentive staff and a good sized swimming pool

We had an amazing stay! Checked in a little late in the afternoon and pool was closing, but they made an exception and allowed up to enjoy the pool. Drinks on the pool deck were amazing! The beach club was fabulous and food was great! We were treated like royalty! Truly impressed and will definitely visit again! Scalea has beautiful beaches and now one of our favorite spots!

Lovely hotel right on the beach. Very clean, well kept gardens and pool. Great view of the beach from our room. A lido at the beach with free chairs and umbrella. Had a delicious lunch. Service is great and servers are really nice. Delicious dinner at their restaurant and breakfast was good too. Had a wonderful stay. Highly recommend it.

It is hard to put in words a very special experience that brings the best of many aspects of a great vacation. The superlative staff no one excluded, seems to be out of a different kind of professionalità very rare to find. For sure you may have a few people that are great hosts here and there all over Italy but grand hotel de Rose had one unanimous way to attend guests which is unparalleled to any other place I have ever been. The charming athmosphere , the cleansiness and the high quality of the food does not compare even to most 5 starts hotels with perfection in many details maybe but no personality . Grand Hotel De Rose has a bit of everything that is real and comfortable which is important to feel which is a feeling to be cared for and finding a home away from home. A true little gem in Calabria . Thanks to you all !

Really nice location at the coast with wonderful sea view (when you have this room category) and balcony. Very good breakfast with good Capuccino, nice pool (not too big though), very nice separated beach area at the sea (very short walk)

Very nice location with a great beach club. Free parking on-site but it is very tight during busy season.
Walking distance to beaches and town. Amazing views!
