Amazing hotel in the center of Rome with nicely furnished rooms. Very close to antique Forum and Coliseum. A lot of nice restaurants nearby. Great Irish pub downstairs. Very friendly and helpful staff. Bed was very comfortable, AC and fridge worked perfectly.
For sure I will stay here again.
Water in the shower occasionally changed its temperature.
I had some issues with WiFi connection from the scratch, but I didn't try to solve it

Close to everything and the staff were amazing
Rooms are small and the shower was very small as a normal sized bloke I could barely move in it
Location is good. On the main strip for that area.
Staff was friendly when they were there.
The hotel entrance is lined with trash cans filled and or overflowing. It just looks dirty.
No one works the front desk on the weekends, so if you have any issues or need help…you have to walk around the block to another hotel to get assistance.
The room is small, which isn’t a big deal. The air conditioner isn’t strong enough to keep the room cool and shuts off after running for 10-15 minutes. Temperature never reached the setting ever. No ventilation in room to removed hot air. You can open window, but then the bugs fly in.
The shower wouldn’t keep a specific temperature. The shower would be warm at initial settings, then for no reason it would drop to cold water and then to scorching water the whole time. It never worked correctly while we were there.
We tried to cancel our room after the second day, but they said that was not an option and we would lose our money.
We checked in Hotel Britannia on 5/31/2026 as email received from Hotel Cortina 5/30/2026 that your reception will be closed all day on 5/31/2026. That was a very bad start for our 3 nights stay. WE had to check in at Hotel Britannia and then go back to claim our luggage and walk to Hotel Cortina. We were a little shocked when we arrived at Hotel Cortina as the front door opened to a role of garbage containers. Then we walked up to 1st floor and squeezed through the double glass swing doors. Everywhere was dimly lit. The whole entrance is nothing like what Hotel Cortina has posted on your website with lovely pictures of your reception and corridors! We really felt being fooled.
The room was okay but the Daikin air conditioning unit did not work well in our room. I think its filter needs cleaning and the coolant needs to be refilled. I set the temperature to 20C and it juts did not feel nice and cool and comfortable. I did ask the next day when one of your associate was on duty at the reception desk and she was very kind to come to set the air conditioning remote control. But it did not make much difference as the temp was still hovering around 25C!
We had a lot of problem with the shower as the hot water supply suddenly turned cold at least 3 to 4 times during one shower period! Then the bath tub is extremely slippery and there is no anti-slip mat available. The only thing we felt comfortable was our room was cleaned with fresh towels everyday.
On our departure day we had to leave at 5am to FCO as our flight departs at 8am. I had to call Hotel Britannia to arrange someone to come to Hotel Cortina so that I can hand back the keys and settle anything outstanding. These arrangements should have been made by Hotel Cortina without the guest having to ask, do your agree?
Finally we think Hotel Britannia is a much better hotel as it has a proper entrance with reception. Also we noticed drinking water and pastry was offered at the reception area. Hotel Cortian offered nothing.

Couldn't find the hotel and there was zero parking.
good clean place to stay. centrally located close to metro and train station. You can walk or take the metro to get to any of the sights. employees were helpful and patient with us.
There is a rooftop bar on the building, with high music, the building was shaking, impossible to sleep until 2 am. When music stopped, an alarm went off, i had to convince someone from the near hotel (cortina is an unmanned hotel) to come and have a look. Don’t go book cortina, it is a rip off
I had a very pleasant stay at the Cortina 11 years ago - Alas things appear to have gone down hill a bit t since then - it is now a little tired, a large number of bins in the corridor making it look very scruffy with some alarming sights out of the windows into a court yard area - it looked like a war zone. having nice bedroom makes all the difference however the room looked nothing like the pictures online. We were very kindly given an `upgrade' and after seeing the room my sister had i'm glad i had - although it was nothing special. - the bathroom had mouldy tiles and bits of dirt splashed on the tiles plus it was very noisy at night. My sisters small double was tiny and uncomfortable - it reminded me of hotels i used to stay at in Greece when the holidays were really cheap - and cheap this hotel wasn't! - we had to go to another hotel for breakfast as they were doing renovations in the Cortina - this meant it was very busy at breakfast as there was two hotels trying to access it. We felt really bad recommending this hotel to two other people who came with us this time - especially as it was quite expensive -The only member of staff we saw at the hotel was the lovely Allyssa - she was so helpful and patience - a true credit to the hotel.
I chose this hotel because of its convenient location. When booking, the Single Room was marked as “no view,” but it turned out that the room actually had no window at all — instead, there was a structure facing a technical area. There was neither daylight nor fresh air in the room, and this was not communicated in advance.
I was also surprised by the route to the room: through gates, a room with garbage containers, long corridors, and several coded doors. I immediately asked to change the room, but at first my request was denied. Later, a receptionist helped me find a room in another hotel of the same chain — Hotel Madison Roma BAZAR — where I had to move and pay for accommodation again.
I was refused compensation for the unused room, with the hotel referring only to the “no view” note, which did not reflect the actual conditions. In the end, I paid for a room I could not stay in. Please be careful when booking.
