Excellent stay at Beach Holiday Pyr Apartment
We had a wonderful stay at Beach Holiday Pyr Apartment. The accommodation is very comfortable and fully suitable for three people, with everything needed for a pleasant and relaxing stay.
The kitchen is well equipped, making it easy to prepare meals, and the apartment was very clean upon arrival. We especially enjoyed the nice view, as well as the quiet, safe and peaceful atmosphere, perfect for resting.
We would like to highlight Paula, who was excellent with communication — always friendly, helpful and responsive, which made our stay even better.
The location is another great advantage, with bus and train stations nearby, and plenty of restaurants and places to eat within walking distance.
Overall, a great experience. We would definitely stay again and highly recommend this apartment.
We travel a lot as a family, but this was, unfortunately, our worst hotel experience. We had booked and paid for a two‑bedroom suite, which wasn’t available on the first night; our family was split into two rooms, moved again the next day, and only then received the suite. After that, we noticed bed bug bites and informed reception. The proposed solution was another move - again splitting our family for the last night despite our concern that moving rooms can spread bed bugs.
The extra work didn’t end at checkout. To protect our home back in our home country, we arranged professional freezing for all luggage and clothing immediately upon landing, coordinating logistics and paying several hundred euros out of pocket just to ensure we didn’t bring pests back. It turned our holiday into a stressful, time‑consuming exercise.
The property itself has clearly seen its better days. While the location is convenient, the hotel feels tired: worn furnishings, some non‑working sockets, thin bedding in cold rooms, and beds that felt very old. Also be aware that room quality varies significantly, some rooms are noticeably better than others, so your experience can differ a lot depending on which room you get.
Bottom line: If you want a hotel that provides a bed (potentially with bugs), the bare basics, and a good location, this may suit you. For us, the combination of multiple room moves, bed bugs, and unhelpful handling of the situation made it an expensive and exhausting stay. The hotel needs a thorough renovation and a more professional approach to pest control and guest care before we could consider recommending it.
My husband and I stayed in Hotel Pyr 14.12.25 - 18.01.26. We had booked a one-bedroom suite with fully equipped kitchen (according to the description of the room). The suite itself (1034) was nice and airy, but the kitchen was everything but fully equipped. The crockery and cutlery were very cheap and basic, there was no storage or counter space, the kettle was on the other side of the room and we had to borrow a footstool to reach for the crockery etc as they were too high. The sheets in the bed were clean and changed regularly, but one day, according to the cleaner, they had ran out of big sheets so we had to have a smaller top sheet which didn't cover the ugly blanket properly that had been used by other people. Duvet covers would be much more hygienic! We had chosen Hotel Pyr because we were assured we can see the UK TV channels (BBC1,2, ITV and Ch4), but because of their aerial problems we missed several evenings' UK TV. After complaining we were eventually moved to next door, room 1035 which had a better kitchen facilities, still crockery etc too high to reach properly.
The bar/cafeteria was a very unwelcoming place. The only time we saw some people there was during the so called happy hour. One late afternoon, just before the happy hour, we wanted to have food there, but we were told that the kitchen was closed!
Some of the staff members in the reception and in the bar had a very nonchalant and "no can do" attitude. This was our second but definitely the last stay in Hotel Pyr!
We booked as a large family aging from baby to 68! Reception was amazing and reserved us the perfect rooms we had requested with upgraded sea views for each familys needs.
It was spotless and rooms are large with lots of storage.
We booked the family apartment which has 2 beds in bedroom with a smaller balcony, 2 beds in the lounge with an extra sofa area and large balcony. ( you have to request the 2 seperate beds in the lounge if required on 2nd floor)
Studios are also large with 2 separate beds and sofa area and kitchen.
The pool itself is surprisingly big with lifeguard and a really reasonable priced snack bar.
I really could not fault this place, better communication service too than a lot of other higher rated hotels being a travel agent i was very impressed they fulfilled all our needs. And the price we paid to stay was amazing.
We travelled to Fuengirola as a family group of ten — including my 70-year-old parents, my sisters and brothers-in-law, and our nieces from both Australia and Belfast. This was our fifth stay at the PYR, and it’s easy to see why we keep coming back!
The PYR is one of the most convenient apartment hotels you could choose. It’s incredibly central — just a three to five-minute walk to Fish Alley, surrounded by great bars and restaurants, and always has a lively buzz about it.
The reception team were really helpful and did their best to get us all on the same floor. Most of us ended up together, with one part of the group just one floor below, which worked perfectly. We stayed for five days and had a fabulous time. The accommodation is very reasonably priced for such a prime location.
The only small downside is the lift situation — there are three lifts serving around ten floors, and they can get quite busy. My top tip would be to request a room on the second or third floor. You’ll still get a lovely sea view and can easily take the stairs if the lifts are full.
Definitely worth a visit — and we’ll absolutely be back again!
This property was perfect for myself and my two children. Very close to the beach 5 minute walk. There are so many restaurants and shops to go to. Also the train station is 9 minute walk away so very easy to get around. We really enjoyed our stay and would def go back.
Hotel has just renovated around the pool lots of loungers. Breakfast buffet had lots of choice and staff were lovely.
All good
Liked central location close to bars/restaurants across the road from the harbour and beach.
This is second time we've stayed here because it's a great place and it's so convenient to everything.
Our room was clean and a great size. Great bathroom and handy little kitchenettes.
The pool has a bar which is a little pricey.
My only reason for 4 and not 5 is because there was some construction work going on which meant the kids pool was closed for 2 days. They just didn't make us aware of this construction work.
Another great stay and again we will be back
1st room over looking the pool from our balcony building work being done behind the pool. We was not told about this before we went. Below in alleyway a nightclub that closed at 6am the noise was horrendous. We could not have a window open. Moved to 10th floor. Hall way had black tap on the floor because the wooden floor was lifting. Same as the first floor we was on. Lifts were very slow. On a brighter not the reception staff were very nice and helpful
We booked with TUI would we book with them again never. Was told a rep would come to the hotel. No rep arrived.
Very good stay
We were looking for a budget hotel and upgraded to a superior room, they gave us a spacious room on the 9th floor with a balcony that looked onto the marina and had a lovely sea view. Room was nice and kept clean. It had everything you need in a hotel room and even a little kitchenette area. Bed was comfy, large powerful shower, decent size tv. For a short stay we didn't use a lot of the hotel facilities but it looked decent enough, plenty of sunbeds and the restaurant/ bar looked nice. The hotel is situated in the middle of everything and to our suprise based on other reviews we heard no noise whatsoever during the night. It is a short walk across the road to the marina which has some nice bars/ restaurants with lovely views of the boats etc. If you want cheap bars for a party then there is a strip of them right next to the hotel. We walked about 5 mins further into Calle Moncayo street that had loads of nice restaurants and bars with a nicer atmosphere. If you walk through that street it also it takes you to the old town square which was really nice also. There are loads of shops next to hotel and even a money exchange.
Overall based on a short stay we have no complaints about staying here and had a wonderful anniversary trip.
We could check in 3 hours early. The room was lovely and big and spacious. The beds we're very comfortable. Will definitely stay here again.
Great area clean . Breakfast not that good
Pre arrival check-in went okay, therefore room available straight away. Re-decorated since my last visit some 6 years ago.
Buffet breakfast very good selection - either English style or Continental style.
Location is quite good, train and bus station are close as well as beach and port. A lot of bars and restaurants nearby.
We had "Superior rooms" and I wonder how bad is the normal room.. Bad smell, super noisy air conditioning (couldn't use) and all the noises from the bars/street during the night even to 6th floor. Balcony was ok, large enough. But room was clean.
Hotel breakfast really average. Hot drinks -machine was broken two days. I would say for the price of breakfast you can get a lot better quality in cafes nearby.
Pool area under renovation, but there was still plenty of room. Pool not heated and quite small. Elevators are super slow and quite old.
Very good hotel.Location is perfect. Close to food and entertainment. Was aware ot the 3-30pm check-in and was disappointed we could not check-in sooner as we,arrived at 11am.
Hotel and location fine. To open the breakfast at 8 on working days is ok for most tourists but not for people on job. I asked if they could open 5 minutes before, no chance, not even for a coffee.
Unfriendly staff in reception, no hotel info in the room, internet in the room did not work.
So I will never use this hotel again
Disappointed Stay at Hotel Pyr Fuengirola
I recently stayed at Hotel Pyr Fuengirola and were disappointed with my experience. The issue was a persistent bad smell in my room that where reported to the staff several times. Unfortunately, nothing was done to address the problem, which significantly impacted my stay.
Despite this major inconvenience, some aspects of the hotel were alright. For instance, I had a great view, great location, good coffee and ok breakfast. However, the unresolved smell issue overshadowed any positives.
I would not recommend this hotel to others due to the persistent odor issue.
I have stayed in the PYR many times and the same problem always exists. The wifi fails constantly and the tv signal fails around 50% of the time. It normally doesn't bother me but as it rained most of the time, I was in the room more than usual. I found ot very frustrating.
